I'm a woman who came from India, living in the US since 2019 and felt more independent here with my husband and kids. Sandeep confesses the truth that indian women don't want to come to India. It is 100% fact about women minds whoever is living here. That's the culture here they have been following. Kudos to him that he understood the nature of women.

His interest in filmmaking is something only a few possess in India. After viewing the film for the first time in theatre I already felt that this was a masterpiece but there are a few insights which this interview provides which makes one rewatch it to praise this mass masterpiece more.

@@febinasalam9541 Bro filmaking like any art film should have the right to be violent or dark which helps a person to explore his darker sides through storytelling rather than ignoring it,if people get influenced by it then its their problem that shouldn't stop you from expressing yourself and hollywood movies are much more violent compared to this.Directors like Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese has literally showed their characters beating up women but they don't justify their behaviors.Because at the end of the day its just a movie.

Art is subjective, problematic sometimes, and inspirational too ( but I feel we've learned a lot from society and from our parents how to behave with a girl , how to respect others. All of these are too basic. And if anybody doesn't know then the parenting went wrong with their children )

Sandeep is a crybaby. He can't get over the fact that a handful of critics ( in his words) didn't like his film. Liked how BR never answered his question " do you think there is misogyny in the movie", " do you think it's okay for them to criticize my film?" I mean dude, get over it. BR tactfully dodged the question by asking "Why does it bother you so much?" ..For misogyny question, he said " the rules of the normal world in won't apply to your movies", meaning that it is problematic behavior in the real world but gets a pass in his movies. Crappy movies are box office hits all the time, doesn't mean he is a phenomenal director. He is a good business man, knows how to exploit the latest sentiments of the movie industry, but definitely not a good human being.

The thing to learn from this is, Sandeep when he sits for a Bharadwaj Rangan interview doesn’t feel hated or judged as a bad man. And so he’s just not defensive anymore. Suddenly when you aren’t making someone defensive, he opens up and expresses. And allows himself to be vulnerable, nostalgic etc. Otherwise based on the amount of hate going his way, one normally sees a very guarded Sandeep. At least one got to see a side of him which would normally be reserved for a more inner circle. I may not agree with the politics of the film or the world view of it. And yet it’s good to at least be able to hear the filmmaker out on how and why many choices were made. In a defensive mode I’ll never get to know. So I’m really glad this interview happened.

yeah right Baddy isnt as polished in some of his other interviews as far as I can remember like the one with GV Prakash or Vijay Antony etc, there was clear intimidation of backlash from the moody, loose mouth Reddy, it's good to be honest and direct yet one must be receptive to constructive criticism, one has to understand not everyone is going to like us and what we do, and its impossible to please all, so Reddy certainly has some growing up to do as well he's far from mature in his expressions and turns into an anguished bitchy drama queen the moment brickbats are thrown at him

Amazing interview and insight into the mind of such a visionary person. Personally loved every frame and aspect of the movie. Including the so called controversial ones, which
Screenplay was very unique, game changer, and very engaging. Loved the idea of leaving hints or bits and pieces in previous scenes to then connect it going forward.
Some of the parts I loved that weren't mentioned in this interview, BUT had an amazing impact:
    1. When Jijaji puts his authoritative hand on Ranbirs shoulder to stop him from seeing his father at the hospital showing he is in charge. And the reverse is done by Ranbir when he has come to kill him. Epic!
    2. Ranbir asking/telling his older sister at the 60th celebration as to why the jijaji calls their dad, dad and not Sir. He even warns his younger sister on her choice....and later when the younger sister meets him after so many years at the hospital she introduces her fiance and he calls their dad 'Sir'! The expression Ranbir gives without saying a word is top-notch
    3. Ranbirs son calls him 'Hero' when him and Rashmika are having a fight on the stairs and the kids see it. Again the way its directed and how suddenly you feel Ranbir melt and get emotional is kudos!

One of the best interview i have ever seen . A very fine job Baradwaj sir!. One can actually see the joy and excitement on Sandeep sir's face when you talk about particular scene and your thoughts on it. I really respect Sandeep sir's conviction and his belief that audience is smart and they will get it. Purely believing on the craft and magic of cinema. Looking forward to more work from Sandeep sir , hope his conviction won't get affected by the criticism he receives and more interviews like this from Rangan sir. It's dream for a filmmaker to get interviewed like this. Thank-you.

For anyone who has watched the movie, regardless of your opinion about it, watch this interview, and then watch the movie again. I guarantee you that you will feel that you are watching a different movie. So many nuances and a better understanding of character motivations and scene progressions are brought up in this conversation that the entire movie becomes so so much more than what I thought of it during my first experience. So many scenes now I will be watching in a different light, and I'm sure I'll end up liking the movie even more than I already do. Dare I say, the movie is a masterpiece; at least for me it is.

After watching the interview, I also want to give the movie another chance... Personally, while I liked the movie on a surface level (acting, music, action, etc.) , I just couldn't connect with the story. The ending didn't resonate with me at all. Again, a very subjective opinion. But, after hearing this conversation, so many things start to make sense in Vanga's direction style. Judging a movie objectively is very difficult but it feels like no one can do it better than Baradwaj Rangan in the current critic landscape.

Characters that are good boys typically lack opportunities to display their acting skills, while characters that are bad boys or shaddy have limitless opportunities to perform more. It's only that the good boy image prevents the so-called heroes from reaching their full potential, even though they are all amazing performers. I am glad the directors are coming up with such unique characterizations.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga comes across as a Filmmaker who is highly passionate about his work.
The Filmmaker gives importance not only to the smallest details but also he has the ability to look at the larger picture of "The Cinematic Narrative".
The unconventional style of storytelling always irks the Establishment.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga definitely belongs to the category of those Great Filmmakers who made unconventional movies different from their times like K.VISHWANATH and RAM GOPAL VERMA.

Finally, the very well spoken and charismatic person meets another. BR's review of Animal really made me get the movie on a whole new level. I appreciate how he digs deep into what makes a film strong and also gives insights into its cultural and social impact.
Before Animal released, I emailed my short film to Vanga sir, and he hit me back with a super detailed response. I was genuinely impressed that he took the time to reply, throw in some compliments, and suggest areas for improvement. Big thanks, Vanga sir! Your response really shows your love for cinema. Count me in for your team once I wrap up my studies. Thanks for the opportunity.
Big shoutout to Galatta Plus and BR for doing a fantastic job in supporting many Telugu directors and their films through reviews, helping them reach a wider audience and safeguarding their careers. Hats off to Galatta Plus and BR.
Sandeep Vanga sir was spot on when he called BR the greatest critic in India. It's unfortunate that there isn't a single good critic in Telugu. Telugu audiences standards are so low, sometimes I feel they deserve those 🤡s to review their movies.
