We both work in a family of 5. We spend about 1200 to 1500 dollars a month to eat. It's frustrating to know or seen people with snap benefits wear good clothes and drive good cars.
I see in some of the comments what people get and are complaining about it. I'm single and spend $100 a month on groceries. That's what I can afford. I can't tell you how many people I've known that have gotten food stamps and sold the extra. Why extra was given during the pandemic I have NO idea. This comes out of tax dollars. Shop more carefully. I do. But I guess when you pay for it yourself you look for sales.
I got and get absolutely nothing! My SSI and that's all I get and keep getting turned down. I actually live on $50 per month in food from my little SSI check. That's all I can afford
I get $23.00 a month, thats pathetic, they can keep their fKg money, i lost 50lbs since being on ebt food cuz 23.00 is next to nothing for one person, im skin and bones and I don't care, thanks a lot Usda , how do you sleep at night 😖
We are not going to get any allotment on food stamps or stimulus check just call the government and food stamps office and they said that they have not heard anything
At American prices, nobody can eat at $140 per month; especially not disabled individuals who can't cook due to disability. All Americans citizens deserve to eat. I especially resent this because I work all the time and my work and intellectual property is heavily used by the U.S. Federal government, many agencies, and by many companies in the private sector in a form of modern slavery: I am compensated in disability payment and formerly I was able to eat with food stamps. Now we'll starve or riot. Expect the latter. This is the wealthiest country in the history of nations and wealth. US citizenship ought to mean something, real socio-economic inclusion. We shouldn't be starving amid all this grotesque wealth and exploitation!
Subtracting the factor of people with disabilities and can’t cook for themselves, you can honestly survive with $140 a month on groceries if you know what you’re doing, what is mostly being said in comments is that they’re receiving a 20 dollar bill and 3 crumpled up dollar bills from the back of their pockets, $23 to survive for a month 23 fucking dollars, this is for the everyday person so it’s going to be different for a person with a handicap. Just pointing something out.
Thanks for this info and for the SNAP program which not only feeds people but prevents homelessness too. One other thing I saw on a FRAC video last week was make sure your shelter costs are up to date with your local state agency. How I wish USDA FNS administered SNAP directly because our local agency is a bit of a mess but we persist and finally get the benefits we deserve. Thank you again and God bless.
Disability isn't SSI ... and you've to be in the brink of going homeless to qualify that's how it was in the beginning, in SSI you're expected to go back to work..

Yes SNAP is based on income but SSI is categorically eligible and the payment is so low you should still be getting a decent amount.
@karlwalter2242 Yes SSI is based on 100 disability and inability to earn Substantial Gainful activity.
@@sr2291 I was approved for SSI several months ago due to a neurological illness that negated CDL
