I've played mini metro a STUPID amount over the years because it's one of the best offline games when you fly (and I fly a lot for work). I absolutely love it
got me to australia and back from east coast USA

if you search on youtube, there are people with scores in the 10's of thousands, usually they block potential spawns by putting roads down, that they don't intend to use. sometimes behind houses. this limits the amount of houses on the map. some people place round-a-bouts in weird locations, never intending to connect them to roads, just to stop the companies from spawning in stupid places. the game doesn't remove player placed structures, and that can be exploited to help 'govern' the spawns.
Teal is a dark blue-green, light blue is probably the best color description (:
MAYBE you could get away with cyan, too
Interesting that it doesn't matter what the houses actually need, only the sellers matter.
Yeah I came into this having played a similar game a few years back (dont remember the name) where any house could generate traffic to any buisnes of the same color, so I assumed I have to connect everything here too. Needless to say that created a lot of unecessary spagetti. Now that I know I only have to supply the buisness it should be easier to plan.
Yeah it does, but I’ve played this game for months so I’m way ahead of the populous.
I think the concept is that the businesses need consumers interested in their specific products to keep from going bankrupt.

Yeah but its still backwards because the nearest consumer is "summomed" and only if that one is busy someone from afar goes there to buy, which is not how consumers work.

Can’t do worse than ManyaTrueNerd’s road building skills.
This game will never get the attention it deserves, but it's absolutely one of the best of the year. So simple and charming, yet so tricky to master (especially evident near the end of this video; just look at the chaos!). It's like if SimCity and Tetris had a baby.
As someone living in LA, I am very appreciative of a well constructed road system. Which means I got a little annoyed every time I saw an easy and efficient solution that you didn't use. Keep playing and keep improving please!

They might look better as a pair of tunnel entrance/exits. Tunnels instead of motorways.
This reminds me of another game I used to play, called just Motorways or something like that. It had a similar concept, but the map was fixed and had no grid
Freeways. Neat but frustrating game.
So glad you played this. Also diagonals can save you quite a lot of road overall too :D
Also worth mentioning you can click and drag the middle of motorways to get a better look at whats under them
i feel like the algorithm puts new businesses in any free 2x3 tile areas, so I just started to put roads in such a way as to minimize the amount of 2x3 areas. it kinda sort works? i just drop 1x2 roads everywhere so it blocks any 2x3 empty spaces. i think i got to maybe 100 points before a 2nd business showed up. just have to keep watching as the map expands and add more broken roads to block the new areas

Thanks Quill, I bought both Mini Metro and Mini motorways after watching your video.With your guidance, I got 2753 in LA in my first game :D I got quite lucky with both dark blue and green on 2 separate sections from the rest until quite late in the game.
What do you mean by LA has terrible traffic in real life? Jack Bauer can go across the city during an add break.
also i think it's nice connect the motorway directly to a roundabout as it serves as an on/off ramp for the higher flow of motorway traffic

Anyways, cool to see a new game after Mini Metro! And it looks a bit more complex since you're dealing with cars that have to stop for each other on the roads, instead of buses that essentially treat each other like they don't exist.
Loved this! Not my usual type of game but I can see myself jamming this game relentlessly
this game is wonderful, but they definitely need to add an alert/visual indicator for unconnected buildings
It's subtle, but they pulsate a bit with a lighter color than the connected ones!
Oh yeah, that is the stuff. I am going to be picking up this for sure.

This game looks like pure bottled stress. Love it!
See game, oh what a cute little baby games for 5 year old kids. Then proceeds to play to around 2000 commuters. DEAR GOD!. This gets out of hand really quickly and its a lot harder than it looks.

Nice but too stressful for my taste ^^
The slow zoom out effect bothers me a lot less in this one compared to metro. Maybe because it seems slower? I almost didn't notice at all.

All your motorways are east to west... No north south.
As opposed to a lot of the LA motorways IRL? I guess the point is 16:9 screen and crossing the N/S rivers for free with motorways too.

I enjoyed watching the whole video, yet when I paused it at the end, I find utterly hate what you've made here, its like a horrible piece of art.
I'm pretty sure the genre "city builder"is broad enough to call this that.
I think it's more accurate to describe it as a casual puzzle game with a traffic theme, but at that point we're just arguing pedantries.
