I got a beautiful purple meteor today and it did indeed land in the worst possible place: directly on one of my out-of-season fruit trees. I can't even tell which one it was to replace it. I'll have to wait three seasons before I can even start growing a new one, then wait another year before it produces. I appreciate the resources, sky, but come ON
@@Solscalrthey don't know which fruit tree was destroyed because it was out of season, so now they have to wait and play through the seasons to see which fruit is missing before planting the new one.. then they take an entire season to grow before producing any fruit. So they're going to miss out on a seasons worth. Honestly tho, just plant all the fruit trees in the greenhouse. Then they produce every season and are safe.
@@WillowGirl11 Correct. In fairness I do also have fruit trees inside the greenhouse, so my main annoyance is in how imbalanced the area looks now. I might just guess - it was one of the springtime fruit trees and the meteor arrived on the second day of summer, so if I plant it now it has a fifty percent chance of being right
@@vanguardiris3232 this is super nerdy - but the cherry tree has a slightly darker bark than the apricot tree. There are also more leaves on a cherry tree. You should check the wiki (/Fruit_Trees) and compare the tree to your file to figure it out! :)
You can put 3 of each tree in the green house if you wanted to. Look up the lay out on the wiki. Just a cool thing to know then all of them have fruit in every season including winter cause it's in the greenhouse and they are placed on the tiles so you still have the full tillable soil

i tried a no mines run as well. kind of gave up half way cause of quartz, since by year 2 summer i hadnt had any luck with the traveling cart, nor trash cans by then, and i used marnie's shop to spawn one in. it was literally the one thing holding me back from perfecting the community center. and according to stardew valley predictor, i was going to have to wait until year 5 fall for ghostfish... something i didnt realize needed 3 quartz to level up, ffs

Haha, maybe they are niche! That said, this video is doing _insanely_ well for my channel. It's already doing *three times* better than my second best performing video in the first three days. And I got about 200 subs in 2 days (which is about one third of my subscribers). Sooo yeah! The algorithm adores this video. It's a bit overwhelming, honestly. :')

okay, i absolutely LOVE your gumption and drive to challenge yourself. this video made me smile so much, you're speaking my language with the silly animal names and some of the spontaneous rules. SO delightful
I am... kinda wanting to do this. I'm going for perfection though, which kinda throws a spanner in the works, since you need to ship one of every crop to do so. But I think if I use the same rules as you do here for the community center that shouldnt be an issue. Tempted to include fish ponds as an "Animal" though, but not sure if that would be in the spirit of this challenge. Great concept though, Animals tend to get shafted due to how broken artistan goods are in comparison. What I find super amusing though is in 1.6, I genuinely think the right animal set up could get perfection in a reasonable time. Dinosaurs got shadow buffed with the treasure guide, making their eggs sell for 3x their value once obtained! And dont even get me started on putting legendary fish into a fish pond. You can genuinely get a lot of passive income if you play your cards right. Not ancient fruit wine levels of profits, but I'm genuinely in your boat, money is not enough of a motivator for me. Although I kinda wish golden chickens had more of a chance to be useful. If I had the ability to mod, I would love to add golden eggs as a 1/8192 drop from golden chests or golden mystery boxes, so there is that super slim chance you could get them pre perfection and use em to speed up the process.
I love it when people want to do their own version of a challenge! :D Go for it! And feel free to adjust it in a way that's fun for YOU. Ultimately, a fun (but challenging) playthrough is what has kept me hooked on Stardew for almost 2000 hours. ;)

Even if focusing on animals going tiller is better in the long run because then at 10 you can get artisan which most people dont sell raw animal products they turn them into artisan goods first

For that to work, I needed at least one (1) Quartz now, didn't I? ;) I'd still have to dig around in the trash to get that one quartz to make it into two (or more).
I'm doing a animal only challenge as well. With a exception of farming crops only for the community center. I am not allowed to make money on crops (or anything needed in mines)
@@MrsMadisonrose I’m not doing this *exactly* but I am doing a bit of a mashup between an ‘anti-capitalist’ and self-sufficiency run (no buying anything from Joja OR Pierre) (technically I am allowing myself to buy from Pierre if there’s literally no other way to get something (like crafting recipes etc.) since I’m going for perfection, but once I’m able to get a lot of corn I plan on selling him as much corn as the money I gave him since he hates it, lol) I’m allowing myself extremely sparing use of the traveling cart for things I wouldn’t be able to get otherwise And I haven’t gotten to winter yet so I’m still going back and forth on whether I want to allow myself to buy from the night market or ONLY rely on skull cavern rng luck in treasure rooms to get the seeds that can’t come from mixed seeds🤔 (depends how annoyed I get with skull cavern luck I guess, lol) But even if I do decide to let myself buy from the night market I’ll only buy one (1☝️) of each seed I need So technically I AM planting, but only mixed seeds or seeds I find not from buying and I’m not making money from it because every crop I produce has to go in a chest to wait until I reach level 9 and can seed maker them since I can never buy another one of those seeds (Like for example I did allow myself to buy one (1☝️) strawberry seed since that’s the ONLY way to get them, but I couldn’t get speed gro since I couldn’t complete the spring crops bundle without green beans (which can’t come from mixed seeds) so I only got a harvest of two, and I can’t sell them because I need to turn them into seeds later) So for the MOST part my farming level has to be gained from animals since even the farming I’m allowing myself is very limited without a seedmaker
a tip I just learned: instead of buying more silos you can take hay out of the feeder in a regular coop/barn, or blow some up in the upgraded to be able to take out more, and store it in a chest!

On my animal farm my goal was to have one filled barn and coop for each animal all named after revolutionaries. Except for the pigs, they where all named after communist dictators.

What a strange way to play. I think you should of put all the seeds you got in to a chest to save till you found use them after you said you can start using them.
I'm down for this, especially since clay farming is defined as an exploit, which it absolutely is. I'd really love to see 1.6 remove the clay farming possibility. I'm always hugely disappointed when I see a fun idea ruined by the person immediately spending the day clay farming, since IMO, in essence, they're cheating right off the bat.
Fair question! I suppose it wasn't as relevant in this run as it was for the artisan run i did earlier this year, but I guess it's a bit of a 'house rule' for me. Partly because some of these challenges (including this one) I came up with several years ago, before you could even upgrade the garbage bin at all. But most importantly, it makes inventory spaces less precious. If you need room and there's stuff you only want to sell, you just sell it via your inventory and get a slight cut of the total sell price. By not letting myself upgrade the garbage bin, the decision what to keep and what to trash becomes more difficult. It's quite small, but it adds to the pressure I like to play with in challenge runs!

I think the trees still grow out of season, they just don't produce fruit.
