I love this so much! Have you explained anywhere where/how you made the objective markers with the custom swappable flags? I love that idea and would like to make them for gaming with my son! Helps a lot with sticky objectives too.
I'd recommend to do buildings like... Buildings. The FORTRESS not making save rolls against at least heavy bolters was... Strange. I mean that this is GODDAMN FORTRESS, but even buggies made of scrap are seem more protected...
It just hit me... Battle for Middle-earth... You have the system. You have the models. You have the joy. You can realize this :) Great content as always :)
The fact yous managed to turn one of the best rts games ever into its tabletop counterpart and make it work so well is truly amazing and a blessing to all wh40k fans 😊
Dawn of War was actually my first introduction into 40k surprisingly. A few years later and I'm building my first tabletop army. Love to see the two game systems combined and so well too! Fantastic job!
Wait you only have 10k subs, jeez, I was expecting like 500k or something honestly. This is some of the highest quality wh40k stuff I've seen in a while and the ruleset you've made for this honestly seems 10x better than normal play, much more entertaining to watch too. Hope this format becomes a lot more popular and that this channel gets the growth it deserves.
It is really nice to see familiar Dawn of War on tabletop. The whole board and models are awesome. Only one thing really bugs me. I don't know if it's because Warhammer is so unbalanced when you play against Space Marines or your rules could have a little bit of ballancing changes, but for the whole time (since the last part) I have the felling that Orkz have no freakin chances. It's like Marines shoot and autodeletes a unit of Orkz, or even vehicle, or building. Orkz charge and are in melee (wich they should be strong AF) throw 20+ dices and score 2 wounds wich remove a single model... Thats just sad...
Yeah, it did make it a bit hilarious how the narrative kept suggesting the space marines were under real threat or it was balanced on a knife edge when the space marines spent the entire game sweeping every single engagement with minimal losses, with the sole exception of the assault marines who jumped right into three melee specialists.
Absolutely brilliant! I saw this pop up in my feed, but wanted time to watch it fully and savour it. Can't wait for more Dawn of war as I am loving what the 'fog of war' adds to the game. - I think GW should use it tournaments!!! Next faction has to be Imperial Guards, though that will mean a ton of models so maybe Chaos or Eldar as they are next in the story line.
A phenomenal concept, turning a battle game into a skirmish game with a board game adaption of RTS economics. I've been absolutely inspired by this project. Great work and best of luck.
Ah thank you buddy! It's going to be an unwieldy beast to balance, but I think we can get something working pretty well for a nice fun day of gaming among mates :)
Hopefully the final form you create will be a bit more balanced as this is a really fun concept to try out. Since we don't quite know the behind the scenes actions the orks took or the intended campagin narrative flow, I can only make assumptions based on what I saw and the RTS. The Ork unit size (or pop cap?) and their buildings lacking their offensive shooting whilst being so squishy compared to the marine structures could use some adjustment.
Man, this series is amazing! I can not wait until you're fully set up and at 100% power. GW will be kicking themselves that they didn't think of this 😂
MORE DAWN OF WAR WARHAMMER!!! I love these batreps Zorp. Your Heresy batreps last year were definitely an inspiration for me to start my own Heresy army. Hopefully going to get that up by end of summer here.
I still play the game to this day and it's great to find someone playing it on the tabletop. Normally I lose interest watching battle reports of standard games, but I sat down and watched both episodes without realizing the time! Great job on coming up with all of these custom rules.
There is no worse feeling than having no one at your base and you have to spawn in new squad after new squad to watch them sacrificed to keep the base alive!
This was really fun. I am looking forward to seeing the overlay rules. I'd like to see tyranids and necron rules. The all consuming hunger versus the metallic flesh of undeath. Would be fun to see.
Fantastic videos mate! The game looks really fun to play! As for what faction I'd like to see added that would be either Necrons or Thousand Sons since I've recently gotten into the hobby and currently setting up a Thousand Sons army.
Some Oldhammer scenarios use blind or doubleblind deployment or gameplay. They might mention a referee to assist the game. In some scenarios you can do fun little things like find unit strength manifests in an office, like a duty roster where the orks have detailed who gets to do the boring and fun jobs. Players might have no knowledge of the other army or use pre-determined units.
this is so cool and I can see so much potential for story or campaign where appending on what or how many objective you complete it can effect the next or certain mission in a story.
Please Zorp, do more of this stuff, keep doing this!!! Who knows, if you ask me, you have to do the mission under siege, saving the population of tartarus, defending the city, and taking out the orks from the city. Keep it up!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
these are the most fun battle reports on the internet right now! the special rules, the cinematic moments as you move the models, great models and terrain, chefs kiss!!
This right here is why i started a blood ravens army! Growing up playing dawn of war made them an obvious choice and by the emperor do i want to try this one day
I find this game much more enjoyable than the average. It's very dynamic, and the point to play the movements rather than mesuring everything really helps to feel like the video game. Great job guys
Classic Dawn of war game, the enemy attacks your base while you were focused on your main army and having to build quick tac marines with no upgrades. nostalgia overload
I love this concept and hope to one day play a version of this myself once you do a full release. I imagine the next two factions you will add will probably be the ones from classic Dawn of War, i.e. Craftworld Eldar and Chaos Marines. But I hope you will add in the future more factions from the other Dawn of War games. Tau, Necrons, Imperial Guard and others would be really interesting to see added to this system.
I would love to see imperial Guard in this kind of setting, they have some nice special rules like entrenching in their own buildings and going between them using tunnels, maybe you could even make a Winter Assault themed campaign. Also it would be nice if you could build a listening post atop a control point to boost it's requisition production and add some defensive capabilities
Yeah we've done away with posts for the time being just to try and make the game as accessible as possible to keep the building requirement low for folks making terrain at home :)
Even without them the game is amazing (but it would add a little more dawn of war vibes even as an optional thing) and i would want to try it but i only have and would want to play as Guard, guess i’ll have to wait for rules to them
More dawn of war, its so nice to watch! i started replaying dawn of war on the pc because of this. I would love to see a skirmish with or against a chaos team with a defiler or deamon prince!
