I'm glad you picked up on the interaction during the guitar/keyboard part. That's my favorite thing visually about this performance. In addition to what you said, I also like that TMZ not only goes over to Oreo, but climbs up on and sits on her keyboard. That, and their quick shared glance, is such a sweet moment. Great review overall, and I'm happy that we finally got a conclusion to the cliffhanger about what you had to say about the drummer. 😄
Hana is indeed a phenomenal drummer and she's self taught in all the instruments she plays if I'm not mistaken. And can't forget she's an awesome singer too, she can do it all.
About the GS/UM "fusion" of styles, I kinda agree with both the tone and the visual aspect of the show, even though the song was originally written way back in 2012 when they made their first album and when Fuki was mainly known for being the singer of Light Bringer(especially since 2010 onward when the music videos started coming out, and that's when I found Light Bringer for the first time as well). Unlucky Morpheus at that time was still only a cover band for anime and games, especially touhou related.
Hoping there's more Doll$boxx to come even though I always feel a bit nostalgic about it which saddens me in one way because all good things come to an end but nonetheless still glad they happened.

Fuki's former band Light Bringer shared the bill a number of times on the club circuit with Gacharic Spin, which is how she met them. She supported GS on vocals on tour while she was with LB, before D$B was formed. I saw them in Aug. 2014 when Light Bringer, DOLL$BOXX, Gacharic Spin (and Mary's Blood, Bridear, Mardelas, among others) were all on the bill. Speaking of Unlucky Morpheus, as you were, one of the best shows I've ever seen in Japan was DOLL$ FESTA July 2018 at Club Citta, where D$B, GS, Unlucky Morpheus, and Fuki Commune (Mao Yamamoto of Light Bringer on keys, Isao of Babymetal's Kami Band on guitar) appeared together. It was Fuki's show.
As I said on the earlier DB reaction this month, no real surprise that you personally prefer the heavier/darker DB sound. GS wins for me due to the huge variety of their material and even more energetic live show, but I include DB within their material as they wrote it too :)
Really nice to hear you acknowledging Hana's singing and drumming combination, especially with the more demanding drumming within DB - maybe her name is the next one to learn - it's pretty simple!
I'm not sure if you missed Oreo was up on her keyboard during the intro...it's pretty dark to be fair.
No 9's for DB yet, although you would have given "Dragonet" a 9.3 or so if it hadn't had the cymbal heavy drum solo as part of the same vid. That came down to an 8.8 and that's the highest score you've given (low 8.3) so lower than I think is normally the case when you start talking about expectations - but I'm glad you're having a fun time reaction to them regardless.
Interesting to hear your detailed thoughts on Hana on drums, she is certainly a rare talent
When I was at a Q&A session with Gacharic Spin last month Oreo said Hana's not very good academically, but when it comes to anything related to music she's a genius

@@v01dal It's not uncommon with high-tier musicians, I've had a few classes with Guthrie Govan over the years and he's the loveliest guy and the most most stunning guitarist, but I think any time he isn't playing guitar, he's day-dreaming about guitar, so wanders around in a perpetual daze getting stuck between doors or getting lost
god i love fuki. long live fuyuki tenge. hard to believe she is 37 now. started her career with LIGHTBRINGER in '09 and has not stopped. interesting fact - LOVEBITES assist songwriter and keyboardist MAO YAMAMOTO was the keyboard player for LIGHTBRINGER
Excellent review and absolutely no flack for stating the Doll$Boxx is your favorite of the three bands. I think everyone recognizes that this collaboration was special. As for your thought of adding Jill to the lineup, I wish you were their manager because that would be amazing. Also, if you look closely, you can see that Tomo-Zo is actually sitting of Oreo"s keyboard during their solo. Is your normal keyboard and stand designed to have people sitting and standing on the keyboard?
Normally no, unless your playing a Korg that weighs in at over 80 lbs, then the stand might be able to withstand the weight. Korg keyboard stands are made to withstand a lot of weight, so if the keyboard is at 80 and she's under 160, then it might hold both. But I have a feeling the stand is either custom made to withstand the weight and be stable (more than likely) or the stand has been reinforced and has been stabilized (less likely).
Nothing wrong with liking this project better... Even though I'm personally a bigger fan of GS I can totally see DB having a greater appeal to much of the metal community stateside, and I hope that gets them out here eventually.
I agree with you 100%. My first arrival to the Rabbit Hole was greeted by Band Maid Thrill. I loved them. Next G. S. with Arrmy. But when I heard Dolls Boxx live I was blown away. Fuki please come back to Dolls Boxx for a tour.
I understand your point on why you prefer Doll$boxx over the other two and it is valid. I would be hard pressed to pick between DB and GS.

For me, my progression has been with Hana. From first seeing her on the drums, she was nothing more than the blue haired girl who sings. As time has gone by , thanks in part to your reactions, her talent has just shone and shone. It was mixed emotions I had when she moved to guitar. Thank you for your delayed explanation of Hana, reminding you of Eric. It's funny because as I started typing about Hana, you went in to your adulation of her.

It's ok to have preferences 😄I love Gacharic Spin, but I have to agree with you on the popularity point. I always was of the opinion that if they've focused on DB it would have gotten bigger than both GS and UM. I mean when they initially started, the numbers they would get on youtube were already bigger than their main bands, but having long hiatuses really killed their momentum later.
As for Jill playing with DB... you wouldn't be the first to suggest this idea, that's all fans can do now is to dream about things like that, since they're not releasing new music 😄. Also I think it could really work since some of the DB songs have programmed strings, so instead keyboards you'd have an actual person playing those parts.
But for now all we can do is sit and hope they would come out and do something again, even if it would for the last time.
I agree with you David I love ❤️ Doll$boxx more especially with my all time favorite 🤩 singer Fuki and yes rumors has it Fuki is working on being in Doll$boxx they are coming back!!! I’m looking forward to see more from them I’m hoping they will come to USA and Canada must live band 😊🤘🇯🇵 Oreo is incredible on keys 🎹 I do believe on lead guitar 🎸 that’s Tomo-Zo Hana on drums and vocals and Koga on bass 😊🤘
Yes. Out of the 3 bands this one is hands-down the best. They have found musicians who can do two things: 1) Play your ass off. 2) Fit without being in the way. Puts them basically close to in the lane of Band Maid, which so far no band around is similar to.
And, the level of that drumming while also singing to that level is mind boggling.

I'm right there with you. I really enjoy Gacharic Spin and Unlucky Morpheus, but DOLL$BOXX is just one level above those two. They were something special. I miss them.
And, yes, Hana is a fantastic drummer, and an amazing vocalist. Plus, she's a great guitarist, bassist, keyboard player, aerophonist, plastic comb player, etc.

If it wasn't for Jill DB would also be my favorite but something about the Violin in UM works for me. But it's pretty sad you have to spend time addressing people who would be pissed off for having s different opinion.
