@@gregebsworth7914 Garter snake, ball python, hognose snake, or corn snake. I'd say do your research on those/good beginner snakes. They all have pros and cons. As someone who is CPR and First-Aid certified, I know that holding and shaking a choking child will not help unblock his or her airways. It just might cause the object to become more lodged in the throat instead. Plus, it might actually cause brain trauma from the brain being forced to rattle in the child's skull. This is why you don't shake or bounce young infants, and why you shouldn't really try this with anyone. Great job, Troom Troom. Edit: To everyone in the comments below who are saying that not shaking children is common sense, I know. Unfortunately, common sense isn't really common anymore and I've seen caretakers unintentionally be very rough with their small infants and children, like throwing them up in the air, etc. when I babysit. And most of them aren't even a year old OR if they are older, their children are pretty small-framed for their ages. So before becoming a parent, PLEASE do your research on basic knowledge like this so you know how to assist your children if they need any urgent medical aid in a life-threatening situation. I beg you. It's heartbreaking to see (as a teenager), loving parents who don't know how to take care of their little ones in a proper manner. You just might end up saving his/her life one day.

My favorite thing about the "ice pad" is that (unlike a real ice pack or a sealed bag of ice) as it warms it is completely going to melt all over your face.
@@animeloveer97 only if you use an inappropriately thin one, or don't change them frequently enough, or in this case add too much liquid into them, or I guess maybe you could be using really poor quality ones? Dunno, I've never had that problem. In the ice pad setting, it's being filled with liquid water, then frozen, so presumably they're only going to fill it with the amount of water that it can hold without leaking, especially if using a syringe to fill it, since syringes over 5mls in size tend to be super expensive & a maxipad will easily hold 5mls of liquid. 5mls is not much of an ice pack, pretty useless really, but they'd have to do really weird stuff to end up with it leaking all over their face!
As someone who has suffered severe motion sickness from a very young age (2-3), I can confirm that the “can trick” does not work. The only thing that seems to help is 1. The actual science behind stopping hiccups: when people say “hold your breath” they’re not necessarily wrong, just being too vague. Take in the deepest possible breath, and then tense your core. Since hiccups are the involuntary contractions of your diaphragm, and breathing in contracts it, you will briefly make it physically impossible for it to compress further. Then, after a bit, slowly let your breath out. Edit: drinking water also helps because it also helps you regulate your breathing. The same tactic is good for someone who’s crying to calm them down
As someone who doesn't really have sugar on hand, that's the trick I always use and I always assumed it worked exactly for the reason you explained. I push my filled lungs down on the abdomen and that seems to compress the diaphragm completely, which in turns help it to relax.
I actually use exactly the opposite approach; exhale as much as possible (far more than in normal breathing) and hold... It usually works for me first time, if not simply repeat. As above, I guess it is about conscious diaphragm control.
Yup. This is the only hack that has ever worked for me. I hold it until I feel a cold feeling wash over me--that's how I know it's worked and I can take a breath again.
Okay I'm not kidding. I'm an EMT and when I saw the snake bite being "carterized " my jaw dropped. I would lose everything if I even thought about doing that! 😳 Update: The child choking skit actually made me tear up from the sheer confusion of how people think this is okay 🤦♀️ DO ANY RESEARCH ON ANY MEDICAL SITES AND YOU'LL USUALLY SEE THE SAME THING!

Also, love your channel. It's been a minute since I've watched it, but you've me build up my confidence to advocate for myself at the doctor's office, so thank you.
Yeah, for headaches I have my basic stuff: Sating my caffeine addiction with a bit of coffee, drinking water, eating food. And for migraines it's essentially just "be in pain while not moving in a dark and silent room until it stops". When I lived in the Netherlands the Advil I got there actually did help in those cases, but since I moved I haven't found painkillers that really stop it, so I just try to live through it.
I absolutely love these dr Mike reaction videos. It’s a perfect blend of comedy and actual useful medical fact, explained by an expert, with a sprinkle of imitated computer noises. I love this channel!!
6:55 I’m not an expert by any means unless you count having family members who are medical professionals, but this method is actually very dangerous. If you dangle someone (especially a small child) upside down and shake them when they’re choking, they’ll start panicking which will make their windpipe contract, making the object stuck in their throat get more lodged or even go further down their windpipe, as well as the fact that the violent movements are simply not doing anything to remove it. You also can’t breathe properly if you’re swaying around or being jerked around while hanging upside down. So you would actually be killing the victim faster that way.
I really wish troom troom and five minute crafts could see these videos and just stop making videos which spread misinformation. Thanks Doctor Mike for this awesomely funny and informative video:))
If you get easily carsick (like myself) this is what I find truly helps: Beung in the front seat 1, because I can see the road and kind of know when I'm gonna turn in the car and when there's a roundabout so I don't suddenly turn and throw up and 2, because of the air conditioning. Also sometimes smelling something with a tinge of sourness helps. And gum also helps a ton. And if anyone has any tips please do tell!
Watch the farthest part of the horizon you can see. It's not perfect, but it helps. Though I only get carsick if I read in the car, so it might not work for everyone.
I used to force myself to sleep when I was young, because I always had that problem... though I am almost 30 now and am a terrible passenger because like Pawlows dog with their food, I still fall asleep so fast in a car ^^ not while driving of course... but otherwise? Yah, I'm a goner.

For me, my reasoning for pins and needles is a med I take. I have hand tremors at the med in particular causes that for me (thankfully it helps with the tremors a bit) . I often fall or topple over when I try to stand up, so getting up to make it go away isn’t effective for me.

My mom would give me a spoon of vinegar with sugar. Worked every time. I also learned that the valsalva maneuver without pinching the nose works. Just like having a bowel movement, but only keeping your bottom tightened. This works for me all the time. Be sure to catch it on the onset though.
Are you certain that your daughter isn't faking hiccups to get sugar? I've known several kids that were absolute geniuses when it comes to stuff like that, I could 100% see some kids realizing they get sugar each time they hiccup, and start hiccuping to get more 😂

And trust me, those channels sound even more irritating in Turkish than English. And she NEVER wore headphones. I'm pretty sure she lost braincells watching those stuff. I wish you good luck and patience.
7:51 not only do I often get shower water in my ear (far more than pool water?), I cnanot perform the valsalva maneuver (pinching the nose and blowing) because my ear canals are scarred badly from chronis ear infections as a child, so the air just escapes through the sinus ducts in the corners of my eyes. The scarring also causes the stuck water (and the ear wax in there as well) to be stuck in there quite badly, ruining my hearing in that ear for like a week.
I like how sassily upset he gets because it's incredibly relatable to how I get upset about things. Also, I have severe nausea issues and when I don't wanna take my nausea medicine, I sniff eucalyptus oil and that usually helps dispell most of the symptom. I know other people sniff peppermint, but I hate peppermint haha
I hated peppermint until I learned that sucking on mints helps with nausea. That was back in school. I've carried a tin of Altoids with me everywhere ever since.
I once read in a book (this was a fictional children’s book, no medical science anywhere, maybe) that a way to cure the hiccups is to drink exactly 9 gulps of water I’m 80% sure this is mostly the placebo effect, but it works for me
For some of mine, if I gently but firmly use my fist and pound once or twice in my sternum it'll help a bit or not make them as constant. BUT, that's because those particular ones are cause by the caebination from too much soda. It's weird, I don't really burp. Like I can, but it's insanely rare for me to or it more like a heavy exhale when I do. Whatever causes this *seems* to sometimes cause the air to get stuck so this breaks it up. (On the upside I'm 30 and never had heartburn, even with 2 pregnancies.)
4:19 I feel like they could've said it'll stick and you won't need to hold it. That would've made more sense honestly 7:54 YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW EXCITED I AM ABOUT THIS!!!! Every time I shower water gets stuck in my ear and it's torture in winter so I'm so pumped to try this out my next shower

I just hold my breath for 3 hiccups and they're usually gone. works every time
Yup. This is the only hack that has ever worked for me. I hold it until I feel a cold feeling wash over me--that's how I know it's worked and I can take a breath again.
Yep, I hold my breath. But I have to sit still for it to work, if I walk around at the same time it’s no good
