This is absolutely the best sauna video I've seen. None of this "I barely know what I'm doing" influencer crap. From a real FINN. Thank you. Job well done!
Finland words of wisdom. "Try all things except your grandma and line dancing". holy shit 🤣🤣🤣 Seriously awesome job ! There is something special about a man building something beautiful for his family with his hands not just a paycheck. Truly great thank you for sharing . Texas, USA
Kiitos! I am wanting to build a sauna myself, here on lake superior, USA. I spent a month in Turku once and had many great saunas. So fun to run and jump in the baltic sea afterwards! I hope to visit Finland again one day, I made great friends there.
Such a big lake should definately have a good sauna somewhere there. What a delight it would be to know that if in case somehow I find myself at lake superior, I would know that somewhere theres a sauna... Off to explore!
Same here, in Calumet in the back yard, we have one at our family hunting camp but it's a 40 minute drive to agate Beach. Did you ever start it?-Jeff sutinen
Awesome sauna, I'm trying to get mine finished using rough cut lumber but sometimes it's hard to get motivated doing it by yourself, you done motivated me so imma gonna get my ass out there! Kiitos veli
Good video! I loved your comment about not trying your grandmother and line dancing! I have never line danced, but my wife teaches line dancing, so I had to show her your video! Your video has helped me decide to build one like yours. It reminds me of my grandparent's sauna so much I can smell it. Thank you so much!
@@TruthseekerNKAWTG707 Great to hear about knife serving you well. Alabama would be nice place to visit and hole country also(couple months road trip through country). I have visited Florida about 30 years ago. keimo
This is by far the most incredible, authentic, true sauna build on RUclips. You did it all from the ground up, you make everyone else look lazy and cheap LOL. Seriously, man this is an incredible project. I was looking at the timber you fell and trying to tell what species it was. Is that spruce? Just curious. Next summer I begin my sauna project. It will be not near as manly and incredible as yours. Cheers!
thanks for making the video and sharing your Hyvaa Tyota!!! Inspiring, have to get busy with mine, here at Kentankyla West (in Oregon) - noticed the Oregon Saw Bar - the questions is - do I have-it-in-me to do all of that with 58th Birthday coming up. Must Continue to Endeavor to Persevere.
Kyllä siitä vaan hieno tuli edelleenkin. Aika harva pääsee sanomaan nykyään ,että on noin perusteellisen omin käsin saunansa rakentanut( tukitkin juonnettu tien laitaan omin käsin).
Wood will dry and will be ok. Our oldest sauna is from 1950 and there is no aluminium anywhere and still in good condition. You can use aluminum to keep heat inside and save some energy. I added aluminum foil and 25mm wood fiber board to roof later because it took too much wood to heat the sauna in colder weather.
Kiitos. Ei ole mitään kursseja tullut käytyä. Ehkä olisi ollut syytä, itseoppimisessa se huono puoli että virheitä tulee väkisinkin matkan varrella tehtyä.
That a great looking sauna I'm getting ready to build one as well Could you please tell me what is the size of a building that you constructed ? Thanks
For summer use it's ok. Next step up would be aluminium-coated paper under the wood panel. I am thinking that all wooden structures will dry much better/faster without insulation. For winter use i would put some insulation on roof. Keimo
@@leppicknives9830 thank you for the reply. I am going to try and find something similar to that around here. Looks like it works well for as a beam cutter.
Hei Keimo, This project inspired me to start my own construction of a log sauna and I already started to mill my own logs. Now I have a question, how long did you let the logs dry before using them, or did you use them straight away? Happy for any advice :) Thank you for great content and inspiration! // Pontus
Hei. I'm happy/humbled to hear that my videos inspire someone to make their own sauna. Normally people cut the trees during winter and build the building in the summer. So i would say that couple of months is enough, wood will shrink anyway after you get the sauna ready and you have to keep that in mind during the building and leave enough room for the walls to come down. Keimo
Keimo

Mitä pidempään antaa kuivua sitä vähemmän painuu. Nuo ketkä isompia rakennuksia tekee kuivattelee mun mielestä parikin vuotta joskus vissiin kauemminkin. Did you use a mixture of pine and spruce logs in the walls? Can you do that ? What was the form you were cutting the logs with around 5:50 ?
Its all spruce. Normally all wood are the same but on some old houses there is mixed wood. I used diy chainsaw log mill.
Well done man! About to build one in Czechia. Looks like you did not insulate the ceiling, is that ok?

@@leppicknives9830 Sounds right. Thanks Keimo!

Love the build. Looking to build a sauna over the next few years at my off grid cabin. What is the chainsaw mill you are using?
Mill is modified from logosol timber jig and the rail+frame is DYI (wood+some aluminium profile used on balcony railing)
