      He speaks more Mandarin now, which is why his Cantonese is rusty. Plus, Minghao only knows Mandarin. Thus, he converse with him all the time in Mandarin. Also, there is a push in China for all the people to lose the dialect and speak only Mandarin.

    It's hilarious and I'm a little surprised. I thought he spoke Canto originally and not mandarin? The name of this show is also hilarious, it's basically "making life hard for yourself". Also, is it a normal thing in Chinese interviews or just a Jun and Minghao thing: they both called out their interviewers (Minghao's a little more savage about this, in the other interview he was basically bickering with the interviewer through the game they were playing) when the interviewers didn't know things like "AH HA! I knew it! I'm disappointed in you, don't you dare cut this out later!"

    • @helenhe
      @helenhe 5 лет назад +36

      Anyone can forget how to speak a language given that enough time passes. You would need to consistently speak in that language in order for you to be fluent in it, because language skills aren’t something that will stay the same forever; in order to be as fluent in a language as you were 10 years ago requires you to actually engage in speaking with people who also speak that language. And, uh, language works the same way in China as it does anywhere else in the world??? Also, native language doesn’t mean he knows everything about it. For example, in America, a first grader won’t know all the words that an eighth grader knows, even though they both speak English, because of the length of time they’ve spent with the language itself. Similarly, Junnie spoke Cantonese when he was a child in Hong Kong, but after that he never had the chance to really speak it for around 10 years (give or take) because he came to Korea, had to learn Korean, and Minghao, the only other Chinese member, speaks only Mandarin (I think). I hope this clears up your confusion and was helpful!

    • @amychang897
      @amychang897 5 лет назад +29

      Well actually his native dialect is only Cantonese because he was born in a province that speaks it but if I remember correctly, his parents weren’t originally Cantonese?or at least one of them wasn’t. Don’t quote me on that though. He’s from ShenZhen which is a very modern city attracting people from all over China. That’s why even if you’re in Shenzhen some people don’t actually speak ANY Cantonese but rather learned it after moving there and speaking to locals.
      Also only Mandarin is taught in schools so even Cantonese children born in China speak only Mandarin in schools. Cantonese itself isn’t really a prevalent language anymore (other than being spoken at home with family members) in China other than Hong Kong and Macau. It’s more alive in overseas Cantonese Chinese communities outside of China.
      I don’t know if it’s because he hasn’t spoken it in a while or he’s one of the new generation of Cantonese people not speaking it and conforming to the common tongue of Mandarin in China, or if he is a migrant Chinese family that moved to ShenZhen and learned it while living in a Cantonese province, but his Cantonese has the ever-so-slightest Mandarin accent now.

      Vietnamese was my first language, and i still speak it at home with my parents, but now I'm better at English than I am at Vietnamese. Because without enough continuous exposure and conversation, people eventually will forget a language itself. I'm hoping that won't happen to me so i still speak vietnamese at home, but i spend most of my time at school,,,it's not rlly a surprise that I'd forget some vietnamese.
      Does this help at all? It's the same with Jun. He's lived away from family and away from that continuous exposure so it's understandable that he probably forgot some words and such.

    • @rebekahtang3081

      @@amychang897 You are right, I can't remember where he said it but Jun has mentioned that his parents are not actually from Guangdong, so I guess you could classify him as a migrant family which honestly seems to be a norm in Shenzhen. I honestly doubt that it is his /native/ language because his parents probably spoke Mandarin to him, but he learned it when he was very young as he was a child actor in Hong Kong. He also has a Southern lilt when he speaks Mandarin, though it's fairly standard.

      He did know Cantonese, he used to star in a lot of Cantonese dramas. He just lost his ability to speak it, which does happen to people when they’re not around their mother tongue. He probably only spoke mandarin to Minghao, as minghao speaks mandarin as he is from the north.

  • @wensius6050

    Some of you have to install this in your brain. When people talk less in a certain language, they'll eventually forget how to pronounce or what the word is. The longer they don't speak in the language they used to be fluent in, the more they forget it. Jun on the other hand used to be in a drama that used Cantonese instead of Mandarin so it proves he was fluent in canto before. But after choosing the path as an idol, he must've talked less in canto since he learned Korean and even when he met Minghao, the younger one only knows Mandarin. After 7 long years of less canto, do you really think someone would have the brain to remember all simple words or pronounciation?? Please do not look down on someone just because they're bad at one language. It's a stupid act for you to do so because you barely know this person's life. Think smart and don't be stupid. Thank you

    • @wensius6050
      @wensius6050 Год назад

      I myself grew up with my native language but unfortunately there wasn't much people to talk with in that language so I've had forgetten some of the basic pronounciations and words. That concludes, I'm more fluent to english and Mandarin instead of my native language. Smh, people these days are trash
