Crime, and poverty, are primarily in the South side. St Pete has done a horrible job of running this part of the city. It doesn't encourage any businesses to come in and give the people what they need. Very little in the way of good grocery stores, recreation centers for youths, etc. It's essentially a segregated part of St Pete where Black folks get almost no help at all to climb out of poverty and crime.
St pete is the most segregated city ive ever been to its fucked up the difference you can see on north and south, the city doesnt care about anything happening under central you can see it
They had a Walmart open up about 12 years ago, in the Southside. It closed within a year! Theft by the residents of the Southside and the employees was beyond belief. Look it up! Who would want to a retail business in a black neighborhood? No one with any common sense. And don't use my tax dollars either!
It will experience the same cycle over and over. The only difference from almost 15 years ago is this time there will be a hell of a lot more people. St. Pete is a false paradise trap. A sh*thole that is econimically fragile and always feels the economic blips first. But yeah it canbe/is home. So many other places out there though.
I'm a Milwaukee native who moved to the Bird and initially found things worse than Milwaukee. But now, I have to say, the bird is way more level-headed than my hometown.
You did a lot of driving around Gulfport and Childs park. They get the overflow of crime and poverty from Midtown / Jordans park just to the east of where you were . Good view of Lundy's liquors (18th Ave s and 31st St S) with the wacky mural what looks like Angelina Jolie with a triangle of light coming out of her forehead!
St. Pete has more new construction going on than any city I've ever been to! There's just so many investors building there and tearing down older properties.
bro the small neighborhood right across 22nd ave N from woodlawn circle is slowly assimilating into a ghetto. like i be seeing dudes looking scary asf in there. looks as if the northside might be getting hoods
Just as any city grows you will gain population and you will gain crime rate. Every city has a ghetto. In some aspects St Pete is starting to become like Los Angeles where I'm from originally far as the homeless problem, traffic and the price of rent. But there isn't a gang problem or super corrupt police problem like Cali. Overall Saint Pete is a pretty friendly safe city even in the worst places. I don't really feel it's that bad far as crime compared to LA.
First you say its getting like L.A. Then you mention its friendly and not to be compared to L. A. Pretty confusing. But in a way you're just trying to normalize what is abnormal. St Pete is NOTHING like L.A., you lost all credibility, such as it was, w/ that sentence. L.A.'s ghettos are at a level that is just about 100 times worse. San Francisco and Portland are not far behind. I lived in Las Cruces, New Mexico for some time and there are no gangs and no ghettos. Just a small, undesirable poor part of town, and there is very little of that. Hilo, Hawaii, same thing. Only two or three streets that are low income where crime is at. But again, no gang activity. Belfast, Maine? Safe, little crime and no gangs. You haven't seen much, have you? Not every city has crime and gangs, not by a long shot.
@@stevemarino5745 Yes reading that now sounds like I was just laying down thoughts randomly and then back peddling a bit. What I'm saying is, 23 years ago when I left LA that place was an over crowded crime ridden dump. Finding employment was really hard and the cost of living was unaffordable. When I came to FL it felt like violent crime didn't even exist even in the so called rough neighborhoods in St Pete, Clearwater, Tampa compared to LA. All I saw was drugs and prostitution far as crime and an abundance of cops everywhere like they over hired. But now 23 years later this city is growing. Traffic and the homeless situation along with cost of living is starting to remind me of Cali 23 years ago. That said Cali has gotten far worse with their homeless situation and cost of living. You stated that I haven't seen much. I'm not sure what that means. No I have not lived all over the US. I lived in and all around the LA area for 21 years and in Florida all through Pinellas county for about 20. I've only traveled and visited a few states in between. Texas AZ NM NV seem like vast desert wastlands where happiness dies and people disappear if you ask me. Complete shit holes
@@stevemarino5745 One thing about Fl that I don't see in Cali is the amount of sex offenders spread out all over the place. How is there so many of these people in one state and do they come here or are they born here?
8 months ago you didn't feel like you were sitting next to the driver in his car now we have bike Lanes I can open up my window as a driver and blow the nose of the passenger next to me in the left lane these bike Lanes suck and they're dangerous

I love 💙 St. Pete! Such a beautiful city!

If you think there isn’t any crime or poverty on the north side, you don’t know the city well enough
