  • Listen to Sheriff Lott and Richland County Sheriff Deputies discuss their experience with completing the STRUGGLE WELL training provided by the Big Red Barn Retreat, a nonprofit located in Blythewood SC. The STRUGGLE WELL training was developed through a partnership between Boulder Crest Foundation and AT&T First Net, and first launched in Miami/Dade County and Tucson.
The training helps officers across all ranks learn to deal with their unique stressors and improve their mental health and wellness, and thus, helping them be better officers.
After completing the training, officers are able to talk with their peers about things they'd never discuss normally. The STRUGGLE WELL training showed them how these deeply buried traumas and negative experiences affected their family relationships, their work lives, and their coping mechanisms. The training helps officers learn to grow and learn from their struggle, so they can STRUGGLE WELL.
