    Once the final product is ready, can the Kombucha liquid come in contact with soap/metal? Do we only want to avoid the SCOBY coming in contact with those things? Thanks!

    Literally my favourite thing ever to have in restaurants, but have always been putting off learning how to make it. Lol. A youtube vid explaining clearly is nice and lazy for me to learn. Defo gonna try this!

    The jar with the baby scoby, the lid was looks metal? wont that affect it? since condensation may bring water up and then drip back down?

    • @CaitlinShoemaker

      Nope! The inner part of the lid was lined with plastic

    Is it alcoholic then? If it ferments then the yeast should be releasing alcohol into the liquid correct?

    • @CaitlinShoemaker
      @CaitlinShoemaker  8 лет назад +3

      Yes there is a small amount of alcohol but it's pretty negligible

    • @juliejrgensen1590
      @juliejrgensen1590 7 лет назад +1

      Nooooo I was going to make this, but I don't drink alcohol...

    • @laurenlewis6838
      @laurenlewis6838 7 лет назад +1

      Cat Fisk it only has about .0001% of alcohol

    • @rozamunduszek4787
      @rozamunduszek4787 7 лет назад +3

      Cat Fisk the amount of alcohol there is negligible, kinda like in bread and other products that use baking yeast, i.e. they technically do contain trace amounts of alcohol but nobody would ever not eat bread just because of that

    • @CyberMachine
      @CyberMachine 7 лет назад

      I took a sleeping pill and had a glass of kombucha before that. 30 minutes later I was vomitting everywhere. So be very careful since you don't know how much alcohol is in every batch

    Can you make more for your first batch or is that the maximum for the scoby to take? Just seems a lot of effort for one small glass at then end then to wait another week for the next one

    Are the mason jar lids not metal?

    • @TheDevilDarling

      Romy Fernandez i think aslong as metal doesnt touch the scoby its fine. And from what ive read its only certain metals that are a problem but its probably best to avoid all of them.

    What are the benefits of drinking kombucha??

    • @drama4anna
      @drama4anna 8 лет назад +3

      It is a probiotic. Aids in digestion and immune health. It has helped some people with weight loss and other things as well. Even without all those benefits it is just a delicious, natural, low calorie, and low sugar (around 3-7 grams per serving), drink.

    • @drama4anna
      @drama4anna 8 лет назад +2

      I have replaced any and all soda within the past few years with kombucha. I am just lucky to live where some of the most popular kombucha breweries are.

    • @theveganrd5770
      @theveganrd5770 8 лет назад +5

      The end result kombucha has little to no sugar if that's what you're concerned about. It's all "eaten" by the scoby which needs its to ferment so there should be little to none in your final product.

      1. the scoby "eats" the sugar, there is very little left in the actual drink 2. a little sugar is certainly not going to kill you in the long run haha
