Lose the trolley. They know you are gonna resell them. I only carry a backpack with me, I see some resellers with the trolley and the sellers are firm on the price. If they think you are just a fella looking for some stuff for yourself they are willing to give a little.
Biggest tip I ever had was to tell people what you are doing, they are there to sell things at the end of the day. The lady selling the 2 pairs of Nikes asked if George was into sports stuff. She could have had a boot full of sportswear. But if you give the old “I don’t know until I see it” she might not even bother 🤷🏻 Not being critical of yourself or GR... just another way to look at it.
@@billyshears40 I get what your saying. I'm only speaking from my experience. I seen it first hand on Sunday . If you're buying multiple items from the same seller; rather than offering them a price - ask them what they would do if you took multiple items. Several advantages of this approach.. The seller doesn't know which of the items are you most interested in, so you instantly get the advantage. Its much less 'aggressive' than 'Would you take' so pushes the seller from a position of 'I need to defend my prices' into 'how can I tempt this person to buy more'. They may come back with a lower combined price than you were thinking; if not, you can still make a lower offer which the seller will be more psychologically prepared for. If they say no, you can play the: "Ok, I'll just take this one.." trick which may prompt some sellers remorse into backing down and finally, if there's no negotiation and you just take one item; it gives you the option to come back later in the day with 'I bought x from you earlier - would you take y for this item..'
I just think the price people quote is really cheap most of the time so I find it annoying when people try barter me down from the cheap price I already have given. Especially when people will resell it for a good profit. People expect things for pennies at car boots!
EXACTLY. None of the prices asked were out of order at all. £65 Timberlands for £15. That's less than 1/4 of the retail price, and they're in good nick, so why expect it to be even more of a bargain? Ok, So I have being a delboy for many years. As soon as they tell you the price you make it clear that they're asking far too much. Don't ask the question like 'will you take £' you tell them 'I can do £ but no more' the fear of losing out on the money seems to work better for me, asking like that makes them feel in power when you're the buyer you have the power
I think your technique/ approach is fine as it's so quick. You waste no time bartering if something is underpriced, walk away if it's very over priced and ask for reasonable deals i.e the £10 & £15 pairs for £20. The time you save by not scrimping over a couple of quid allows you to get more items which likely nets you more than you'd save by discounts.
The people who sell you shoes remember how much they pay for them... so when you are buying 2 great conditions Nikes, all the lady selling them is thinking “I paid £80 a paid for them and the bastards never worn them” 🤣

to answer your question George, I think the 'are you interested in sports stuff' would have been a great lead in to see her other items - she coulda had lots of really good stuff that she hadn't put out yet, or would be willing to do you a deal on as it's in bulk. worth an ask.
I wouldn’t worry about it mate, I think it’s just the time of the day being so early, people are less likely to make a deal. Always be nice, like you are. Best way 👍🏻
People selling at car boots know that the first people through the gates especially if it cost extra first thing are nearly always ‘traders’ ‘resellers’ whatever you want to call them so will stick to their prices once the general public are allowed in prices drop!

From selling occasionally at boot sales anyone with a cart made me think hey this guys a seller. no bargains for him 😂. Chances are George most of the sellers either recognise you from boot sales or seen you online or at the very least some have heard about you locally. Maybe that's affecting the haggling I don't know
I agree with some other people’s comments - when they tell you the price I’d put the item back down, look like you’re disappointed and turn away a bit, then throw in a ‘I could give you x amount for it’. I also think it’s one of the downsides of getting in early, they’ll hold out for someone who’ll offer more and if it’s still unsold later on they start knocking prices down. Understandable you want to get in early, but maybe go back later too if possible and see what’s left!
George it's not you I sold at carboot for over 8 year's when its early and beginning of the season the sellers wont budge it's just hard work especially when it's cold enjoy the channel
Think it could be the trolley, but I have also thought could be the clothes people wear. Like you have a Tommy Hilfiger scarf on.. but keep up the videos 👌🏼 Your eBay is going to look like JD sports soon 😉
Top tip for speakers George. Even if the cabinets are knackered DIY speaker building is a massive hobby. Those technics (were they lx30) will still fetch £40 for just the driver, tweeters and crossovers taken out the cabs as someone will buy them to build their own speaker cabinets. I make more like this (I also build cabs) than selling complete speakers.
some people would rather take things back home than have a deal, can always leave them and come back later and risk losing them, remember profit is made at the buying stage, if you think you can still earn well don't worry about paying up, people tend to hold out for a price early on in the day, they loosen up later in the day if they haven't sold. A bit more of a chat to break the ice, compliment them on the stuff they have etc etc remember is someones selling for 20 and you offer 15 and they say no , go 16 ,17 - then just say , what is your absolute best on it , a bit of Rossy charm will go along way
Great video as always! ☺️ When the Friends cards dropped out, there was one underneath the box when you put it on the ground and at around 10:12-10:13, you can still see it on the grass where they fell out after you’d picked the rest up. Hopefully won’t be too hard to replace the card if that’s the only one missing from the box though ✨

I would really recommend listening to Pure Hustle Podcast. They're American resellers but they do loads of negotiation episodes! One good tip is to bundle together and then ask for a price for all. In the bundle if you put something in that you don't really want and if their price is too high, take that item out of your bundle and then ask what the price is now. They'll knock some off and you'll get the items you wanted and a cheaper price hopefully
The airforce 1’s are £80 a paid new and a 5 is junior sized so more likely £50. I hate it when people make up prices to make things seem more expensive than they are
Being nice is no bad thing. I think it's a case of early doors they are willing to stick to there price. The trolley is a sign you are a "dealer" as we called them back in the day so you will pay up or leave money on the table knowing that someon else will pay up later that day I will often put things back on the table knowing that the seller can see the sale is slipping away and I will walk away, this can sometimes work but you risk losing the item over a few quid. You won some and lose some.
Interested, how are you confident there aren’t pieces, cards missing from board games? I would say many of my old board games may have something missing.
Hey George, when you go to boot sales, what are the main things you are instinctively looking for? Is there anything in particular or just looking generally?
As if your daughter was getting tea ready for you at home! 😂 That's quality 👏🏼 You've done well there! Good pickups too, despite it being a bit of a struggle.
Top tip get there name and use it as much as possible while talking to them for some reason this makes them think of you more as a friend and are more prone to giving you a better deal seriously try it
Maybe drop the trolley ask them agree on a price, ask them to reserve the item come back later that way you won’t miss out on other deals 🤔 go back to using ikea bags
Nothing wrong for asking for a deal on a bundle. Some people just stick to their prices, especially when it's early. I tend to walk away if they start saying it goes for X on eBay, unless I know they're wrong. I also just stay friendly and have a joke or a flirt with the sellers. Even better if it's a couple cos you can joke with them both and pitch them against each other. If I get the right vibe and they're regular sellers, I'm honest with the seller, I tell them I'm gona resell it but if they can do me a deal I'll come back and buy more every week.
I would say don’t be afraid to walk away, often show your disinterest & suddenly it’s a “ohh go on then” personally am pretty cheeky with my offers I think you can be a little to poilte at times. “Would you take” implying your already wanting to buy it anyway
Don’t bother with the camcorders unless they’re HI8 or mini DV and made in late 90s early 2000s. Those hulking big ones are a slog to sell. Battery’s degrade too much.
Depends what time your asking them for a discount, or if they watch your channel they know your an ebay seller so stick to the prices as they know you buy it to sell on so could be that to 👍👍
Spotted some familiar things on your shelves😀. I’m no expert but I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong which is reflected in the amount you have collected in the last week. First week back everyone wants to get the best price, just keep doing what your doing in my opinion.👍🏻😎
at my local boot sale this weekend the first three items i asked about on three different stalls ...i got the same answer ..."its £20" ...then....."on Ebay" duh
I went out to Watford and Hemel Hempstead to do some charity shops. Was completely done with the small talk... Same exact comments in nearly 20 shops I went into. It’s so boring.
I agree, thats what i was taught to do at antique fairs, it means they are more likely to give a better price unless they are hard faced enough to stand their ground 🤣 years ago before reselling i used to dress plainly at boot sales or the prices went up! Not sure thats the case these days or not.
To be it’s the seller attitude that is all wrong, if they want £15 why don’t they start at £20 gives round to negotiate. Why do they always feel need to give you the life story ie I paid £75 brand new, hardly worn etc. On eBay I always have best offers if I want £20 not going to list for £20 list for £25 gives you round to negotiate you get price you wanted and buyer thinks they have got a deal everyone is a winner. I started reselling January 2021, I’ve walked away from some deal on marketplace/ Shpock because of seller attitude if I was at a car boot and wasn’t given that attitude you was I wouldn’t buy and they would get told. A car boot is meant to be fun have a little haggle etc
Thanks George for an interesting and informative video. I would maybe keep the Indians hat for a while as the Indians team have changed their name recently, so the hat might have a collectibility value. Hope you do well with everything Take care Sam
You will always have sellers who will be happy to haggle and others who won't. I guess sellers will be more negotiable if coming towards the end. Plus sellers are entitled to say no. If you then think they are being abrupt then just move on.
Ask what their best price is and go down from there. Gives them the opportunity to reduce the price at their own will. People can be standoffish with offers (us Essex lot drive hard bargains) lol
It's their stuff. Don't like the price? Walk away. If they're asking too much then they'll be stuck with it. You'll want the highest price you can get, so why shouldn't they do any different?
Great vid. Where can you get the balls from for the big loader? Or anything anyone can suggest I can use instead of the balls. I have a set but no balls. Cheers
Do you find that by going in before “joe public“ sellers know you are a reseller and are less likely to take an offers?. In their eye, if you grabbed it, it will have value!?
I don't think you've done anything wrong. someone wants to hold out for a price for an item early on before majority of punters turn up seems fair. I'd do the same. No harm in asking, just because you haven't got it cheaper than offered when you know you're double your money, does it matter?
Negotiation tip - watch Cams Kicks on you tube - he buys used trainers. His technique “ what’s your best price “ - undercut the price they state as their best , then usually meet in the middle. Doesn’t work all the time but 8 / 10 times you should get discount. Your asking a closed question ( a question they can either say yes or no ). Great vid again. Good to have the boots back!

Top tip get there name and use it as much as possible while talking to them for some reason this makes them think of you more as a friend and are more prone to giving you a better deal seriously try it
I made the same mistake today....didn't buy something straight away went back to see a person purchasing the items 😞
Hint:if u see any football boots either bike or adidas laceless then pick them up because they are worth loads
Wooo another carboot vid... Keep em coming mate 😎🤟👌👍
The trolley telegraphs your intentions! It screams I intend on buying something today.
It makes sense they're not going to lower their prices if it just opened. Must be priced right if you bought it at full price haha
Mate, 13 minutes in, and the best dressed at a carboot goes to this GUY . LOL wow
You are very polite when you ask for money off, shame it doesn't work often😊
Was the hard stand in Colchester ? I was there last week
It was early but also remember we are just out of lockdown and people want as much money as they can get
Those grey Nike air were top though. Would’ve definitely bought.
Don’t bother with the camcorders unless they’re HI8 or mini DV and made in late 90s early 2000s. Those hulking big ones are a slog to sell. Battery’s degrade too much.
Depends what time your asking them for a discount, or if they watch your channel they know your an ebay seller so stick to the prices as they know you buy it to sell on so could be that to 👍👍
2021 Everything's Offensive. Cracked me up. 😂
My dad straight to the point when I brought my car he got £500 off I don't know how he dose it I'm to scared
Have some manners when you ask how Much something is or if they’ll go lower, you may get more people who’ll let you have it cheaper.
Spotted some familiar things on your shelves😀. I’m no expert but I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong which is reflected in the amount you have collected in the last week. First week back everyone wants to get the best price, just keep doing what your doing in my opinion.👍🏻😎
Why are boot sales at such an ungodly hour. What difference would it make it they opened at midday.
at my local boot sale this weekend the first three items i asked about on three different stalls ...i got the same answer ..."its £20" ...then....."on Ebay" duh
Great to see you back out there George!
Hey lads, no idea you watch my videos 😁
It's great to be back out there!
Love your channel, always watch when there's a new episode 👍🏻👍🏻
Love your channel George! UK’s no.1 reseller!
How do we get to the market from Peckham
I went out to Watford and Hemel Hempstead to do some charity shops. Was completely done with the small talk... Same exact comments in nearly 20 shops I went into. It’s so boring.
Should come to my stall, once I've made my entry money back everything is profit!! Sold 2 watches for 50p just to get rid!
12:18 there was a nice Ralph Polo on a hanger on the car door looked nice
"Would/will you take" invites the seller to answer no very easily.
"What is your best" forces the seller to negotiate. 😉
I agree, thats what i was taught to do at antique fairs, it means they are more likely to give a better price unless they are hard faced enough to stand their ground 🤣 years ago before reselling i used to dress plainly at boot sales or the prices went up! Not sure thats the case these days or not.
@@Lomie32 Even when they reply "that IS my best price" I still throw a number at them. 😅 And sometimes it works.
@@machinist_matt it takes a confident seller to say that too 👍🏻
Well done you've got some good items x hope they get you a good profit x
My sales are so down recently and I’m doing nothing different any tips on how to get my sales back up?
Thanks George for an interesting and informative video. I would maybe keep the Indians hat for a while as the Indians team have changed their name recently, so the hat might have a collectibility value.
Hope you do well with everything
Take care
Sam
lol - they should reply "no - not to you george" lmaoo you be like WTFFF am i dreaming lol
You will always have sellers who will be happy to haggle and others who won't. I guess sellers will be more negotiable if coming towards the end.
Plus sellers are entitled to say no. If you then think they are being abrupt then just move on.
the table where u bought them nike97s there were adidas 20.3 predator laceless football boots and on ebay they are worth about 45 quid
Hi. What do you do when electronics you have bought is damaged?
People are tight for money at the moment, times are hard and are probably hanging onto every penny. Keep going mate 👍🏼
Between size 9 and Size 10, hmmmmm, a tricky one, im going to go for size 9.25?
Fucking hell want put any more adds on this video lol
I thought the sellers were a bit abrupt in their replies. Fair enough if they have a fixed price in mind but could have replied with a nicer tone
One the Adidas trainers maybe zx750 and worth a bit more - expensive trainers. Thanks Sue 😀
New subscriber here fellow tuber enjoying ur content so far learning s lot from you on reselling
Great vid. Where can you get the balls from for the big loader? Or anything anyone can suggest I can use instead of the balls. I have a set but no balls. Cheers
I have a set but no balls? Anyone else????
You missed that green bottle full of marbles. :)
