Yeah, I wonder how things could have been different if the gods hadn't been so awful. Maybe it was their terrible behaviors that brought about the results of the prophecies?
I've read versions of this story that make it clear that had they treated Fenrir well, then when Ragnarok came he would have sided with Odin and fought on the side of the Gods. But sadly their fear of what he MIGHT do, caused them to turn an ally, into an enemy.

Most stories dealing with Hel show her much like Hades. Both stay out of mortal affairs the most out of the main deities. Also both just do their jobs without much complaint. In fact in one tail, when Oden gives Hel Helheim to rule over she thanks him for his generosity. From what little survives of Norse literature Hel doesn't feature in many stories but in the few she is in she is largely indifferent. Infact, the only tail she is prominently in is the Death of Baldur. Out of Loki's children she mainly is content to stay in her realm and place the dead in storage. Another interesting fact is that Hel means "hidden". Fitting for both the goddess and her realm as the underworld is hidden and the dead are often hidden by being buried beneath the ground. Some have speculated that Hel is a late adition to Norse myth, and is a literary personification of the grave instead of a goddess who was worshipped in her own right.
I never did understand the anthropomorphic children from Loki considering his father is Farbauti, a giant, and mother Laufey, also a giant. The parable nature of the tales are brilliant though as a means of retributive justice. Great vid!!! I genuinely did not know that much about the "kids" outside of the hel mistress
Loki is shapeshifter and he could transform into literally everyone, even changing genders (he transformed into woman called Thokk who didn't cry for Baldur when he died and so he stayed in Hel until Ragnarok). Children naturally inherit traits from their parents, and perhaps Norsemen went by this logic that, if Loki's form is changeable, then his children might've been random-looking too.
TBF you could say the same thing about Typhon having two multi-headed dogs, an indestructible lion, and a multi-headed dragon as offspring, but honestly that could come down to the fact that Typhon is meant to represent the chaotic nature of the natural world

The story of Loki's children is sad, I always feel for Fenrir most of them all. But in the end it was a self fulfilling prophecy and the Gods brought it all on themselves! The stories of Fenrir and Sleipnir are two of my favorites, but the fact Odin took Sleipnir as his war mount always seemed weird to me.
@cal can Hel is in actual Norse mythology and was the inspiration for the character of Hela in the comics. They just changed her from Loki's daughter to Odin's. And altered her name to Hela.
Odin- "these children shall be the ruin of all those around them." Odin moments later- "bring those kids here so I (and my entire realm) can be around them all simultaneously."
Something to note. In Hávamál Wen says he sacrificed himself to himself. One of his many names that you'll find him by is 'Wolf' and he's also the one from which 'Ulfheðnarr', Wolfshirts, lend their strength. Now just put 1 and 1 together.
I will always find the gods' reactions to Fenrir and Jormungandr incredibly stupid. They found out that being dicks to Loki's kids was a bad idea, so they decided to be dicks to Loki's kids. What the hell? Fenrir and Jormungandr weren't mindless beasts, so why didn't they just treat them nicely and then they might not have been an issue for them later?
Hmm... *sniff, sniff, sniff* I smell a Lovecraft videos coming soon. And I find it fitting that you might want to cover the other kids of Cthulhu - whether they would be his legitimate kids or not - since you have covered Cthylla.
Also - Loki was barely ever a true villain. Yes he was mischievous, but using the Svadilfari example - murdering someone because he made the same assumption as everybody else (one of which was claimed to be all-knowing) is not a display of reason... The other stories about him also show the other Asgardians as rather unreasonable when it comes to him, I wonder why this is.
I once read a tale where the All-Father sees that the mistreatment of Loki and his Children will usher in Ragnarok. So, Odin actively tries to prevent this from happening. One way was to make Loki his blood brother, hoping that the Aesir would respect that bond. What he eventually comes to realize is that Ragnarok is an eternal cycle, with COUNTLESS Ragnaroks occurring consecutively, where (dependent on one's vantage point) Loki is justified in his trickery as "revenge" for his treatment in the previous cycles. The Wanderer then accepts that these are events that cannot be changed, as the Norns are the only ones truly in control of the Universe.
Why didn’t Sleipnir betray Odin in the final battle? I can understand why he wouldn’t before the battle, but after what Odin did to his mother(Loki) and his siblings. He was also considered a freak, just a useful one.
Vali being a son of Odin doesn't really mean he can't be the son of Loki, maybe he was adopted/raised by Odin, or maybe Loki had him while in female form (like with Sleipnir) making him Vali's "Mother" in wich case Odin could easily be his father.
I doubt Odin would have had sex with a female Loki. I was previously under the understanding that Vali was Loki's son, but I think that him being Odin's does make some sense as well.
There are a couple solutions to the problem. It is possible that there were 2 different kids named Vali. Another is the theory that Loki himself is the physical manifestation of Odin's chaotic side.
Hold up. When the aseir found out about lokis kids than a prophecy came about. But when they didn’t know, Loki’s kids existed, there was no prophecy. I believe they just wanted to lock the three kids up because they didn’t trust Loki which in the end means they didn’t trust Loki’s kids.
Ah, now this is a very interesting video and my only most favorite mythical figure in Norse is nonetheless Jormungandr because he never makes me scared at all and he’s closed to a dragon.
What frustrates me the most is that some Norse pagans still treat Loki's brood as devilish creatures when that is far from the case. The story of Fenrir clearly demonstrates the gods as villains and the Great Wolf as a victim of betrayal - except Tyr - who fulfilled his oath much to his dismay because of the gods trickery. People get upset when I tell them Odin/Othin is a genocidal maniac who comes across as a villain in many of the stories. I have nothing against Odin, but we cannot exalt him as something he is not. Odin doomed himself because of his paranoid delusions by turning Fenrir into an enemy, irrespective of the Norns vague "prophecy". It's the reason why Fenrir makes a beeline for Odin during Ragnarok as he was the mastermind behind Fenrir's imprisonment.
