If you are suspicious that someone cut your water line to the one stock tank, maybe try putting out a hidden trail camera. Many of my friends have them, for some of the same reasons. Even a couple of them pointed toward the road might give you an idea as to who is slowing down in front of the house. Just a thought.
Great video as always! Makes this old farm boy feel like I am there with you. Please Cole, save your lungs! Wear a mask or kerchief when your Dad is blowing bedding into the barn!
Cole, that is a scary thing to wake up to with people creeping around your home. Invest in a few cameras that feed to a tablet or cellphone. We had to after people were stealing all around our neighborhood. You could get a few wifi cameras to watch your cows too- so no one gets brave to steal one... This current virus has people doing stupid stuff for sure. Be careful and stay safe.
LOVE your videos!! You guys have such a great sense of humor - and love the father/son dynamic. SO much care between the two of you. I also love that your getting a university education - and are not "too good" to farm. Farming in the future need people exactly like you (and your dad!!). I LOVE your Dad!!! And...you are exactly the kind of young man we hope our daughters meet and marry! Hugs to you and your whole family!
I want you to know how much I love this channel! Your Dad makes me laugh so much!! He reminds me so much of my own Dad!! Y’all stay safe, and can’t wait to see more cute littles hit the ground!! 💗💗💗
I don’t know whether it was intentional or not, but seeing a bit more of your Dad in the videos is great! Enjoying his wisdom, experience, perspective and humor! .....and most importantly the father/son bonding!
There's a lot of low-life people out there... even closer than you think. It's to that point even having machines parked in or near the farmyard doesn't mean that someone won't sabotage it.
I just found ur videos and I love them!! Seeing the love and compassion y’all have for ur cows and calves is heartwarming esp during this difficult time in life. I love the cow humor and how u and ur dad work so well together. Keep up the good work!
Sorry about the thieving scoundrels. You need a Rottweiler! I had them for thirty five years. Even the neighbors thanked me a few times. If you get one, they can herd. A couple of my puppies got their herding certs.
Wow, that floor was easier than I anticipated. And I feel dad when he said he's not happy with the way it looks. It's a thing I can relate with. And I enjoy the more active role he has in the videos now a days. I sure do like the little things that you show. Like, "I had some chill" and the fence, and the menur......😏😉 spreader is always fun. And the dollar handle was funny. Take care both of you, and keep warm, and spring is almost here........🌎🌈🖖
Take a look at the video at 6:58. Do you see that small barrel and the mailbox laying on the ground to the right? Yesterday when we went over there the oversize rocks that were in the barrel were dumped out and the barrel, wood post for the mailbox and the mailbox were all missing.
Good video Cole & Brian ! It's not right what some people will do to get money & we know pretty much it wasn't to buy food !! Yal keep safe cole it's crazy people out there. Always beware of your surroundings ! Daniel from central Mississippi
We even had to blow some off with a hair dryer to keep them dry and alive. People don’t realize how hard farmers have to work and the lengths one has to go through for cheap market prices. Keep up the good work, buddy!
I came out of my room one day for lunch and mom said "did you wash your hands?" I was so embarassed that to this day I blush if someone says "wash your hands". Good vid, Peace.
Hay mam ,can I have your calf? Lol an upset cow? Just being a protective good mommy maybe...watch out for them. You guys work so hard, it’s amazing! Keep up the good work. Love your channel.
A friend in southern Nebraska (a ranch/farm operation very similar to yours ) lost a mobile welding unit and expensive tools to thieves who stole from their shop during broad daylight and the shop is right behind their home. The best deterrent is a simple sign by the road "BEWARE OF DOGS"
Three days ago i ran an ad on Craigslist selling a heifer. Had some guy who was shady as hell up to the farm to “look” at her. Last night our Rottweiler’s alerted us, seen his truck creeping down our driveway, headlights off... I dont care to share the rest of the incident, just please be careful and aware folks.
Tattooed Lineman I’ve given up selling online for that reason. I put a wireless solar driveway alert in and it’s been fantastic. I’m going to purchase a few more for around the property since it has a 1/2 mile from alert system and you can program four different sounds so you know which sensor it is coming from! Money well spent!
Wow, hope the calves all make it. My aunt,'s old barn has been unused for thirty years and you can still smell manure. If you like the smell, it helps.
One of our dogs came into the porch not feeling great, next he up-chucked an entire afterbirth, seems he started to swallow and didn't realize it was all attached and gorged the whole thing, the boss lady wasn't too pleased hahaha
Hi Cole & Brian. Just a suggestion for your t-shirt logo. Sonne Farms. Always has Always will be. ‘Farms’ being the 3rd person present rather than the plural ‘Farms’ which you initially intended! What do you think?
Good job man but -3 that would be awesome I live in central canada where many night in calving season in Feb March can be -30 plus windshield thankful this year was an exception milder than normal but still avg -13 for highs but nice to see your vids showing the world how hard farmers work thanks keep up the good work
I love it when the cows find the camera lol. Great video!! How many calves do u have so far? Calving seems to be goin pretty good for u all. Stay safe!!!
Most farmers I knew slept with one I half open and there ears pinned into what was going on around the farm !! Don't people know farmers rarely turn on a light to check things out !! I was always walking around in the dark looking in on the livestock at night !! Especially during calving and pigging time
...and rustlers beware. These farmers in the Dakotas can shoot as well as us southern boys. P.S. Wish I'd had a Bobcat while growing up on our farm! Oh, well...Happy 4th 2020!
Some one stole a gate from our field beside the road. So the say is so true the would steal the sugar fay your tea and come back for the water! Its sad that people stole the end of your water trough and even cut the pipe. Get a job and leave us farmers alone. Great video and you have some great calves being born.
we had it one time our dog scared one and it tipped backwards in a water tank. It got right back out, though. Sometimes on hot days we will see them standing in them
How long can you go between cleanings like that? Also a question for your dad. Before fancy iPhones and having the weather forecast right on your phone did you have to check it often on tv or was there a good local radio station? Did you ever wake up to real bad unpredicted weather I would imagine that could be seriously detrimental to your operation.
Luckily I have not had an issue with that yet. I hope that day doesn't come from some uninvited people because it could be dangerous if we are working with large equipment plus nobody wants unannounced people showing up
@@SonneFarms I agree. I don't like anyone showing up unannounced and I'm not even famous. I've watched a few RUclipsr's videos about it and it sounds scary.
@@SonneFarms Maybe a security system would make sense. I have seen a product called "Blink" that is easy to install and comes with several cameras. You could see where to aim your bird shot or your buck shot. Shooter's choice!
So animals hate flags? Have you tried different flags maybe their socialist or maybe they hate freedom.
Put a French flag on there maybe they will just surrender
Oh believe me they LOOOOOVE freedom, show them a PETA flag, that should piss them off.
Funny how some of the cows need to greet the camera and have their say hello. Any one would think it was all about them llol
“ I need an adult “ Love it 😍
The person driving by your house was probably a young lady looking for Cole!!!😂😂😂
Robin Saba 😃

Waulda Caulkins a very good 💭
Your father is lucky to have you partnering on the farm. You have amazing energy. A beautiful well run farm. Well done.
Thank you Cole so much for taking us along working the cows. Y’all have a wonderful life. Great hard Honest Work

Hey Cole,as always, good video.I hope that you and your family stay healthy and safe.
This Hoosier thourally enjoyed your latest video. Be safe and take care. Thanks so much for sharing a slice of life on your farm.
Love the great relationship you have with your dad. Wish I'd had that with my sons. Kinda tough in the city. Shouda stayed on the dairy.

linda fox may I ask what brand you choose? That’s a great idea, and yeah no more posting on Craigslist for this guy.... Thank you
So sad. I raise Australian Shepherds and often wonder if some of people coming over to (see pups) are over just to check the place out. :(
You have some pretty neat machines. They sure save you time.
I never considered such issues as trespassers or vandals on a farm in SD, but I guess it can happen anywhere.
This vid is the best thing I ever watched before
Another great video. Thanks
love it when the cattle nose the camera!
great video i don't think we could handle that kind of cold, great job you guys

I don’t know how I ended up over here but you made me laugh so I just subscribed!
Thanks so much!
amazing. thank you
Hope you can graduate on time with missing school with COVID 19. We at least get alot of videos with you home.
thanks guys

I love it when the cows find the camera lol. Great video!! How many calves do u have so far? Calving seems to be goin pretty good for u all. Stay safe!!!
We are almost to 100
It’s like a ginormous litter box ha. . Such a good idea to have them birth inside when you live in a cold area. I wonder if other ranchers do this.
Chilly GAS in the skidder cab ! WHEU !
Thanks again great video
Farmy on Brian - Farmy on Cole.

You should look into one of those mds grapple buckets for the skidder I love em!

Would it be good to add some bedding under those pine trees in your new cow calf plan...

Why not chop up a millet bail for the new calves you put in the pasture? They do that for outdoor cattle in -40 below Canada.
This video is from a year ago
Do you guys wash the floors were your cattle leave the barn
We scrape up the manure and then let them dry a bit
He’s a good fella your dad
Thanks for the video wouldn't it be nice to do things in fast forward?so much easier stay safe guys good job

“You are the chosen one” 😆
Look like you guys need some air vents in the barn
Chilli has that effect 😂😂
Nice you can still haul it in the field before it isn't fit too.
Do you take the net wrap off of bales used for bedding?
i agree with dad you cant let em short stick you
Clean and dry is best...have you ever had a calf or cow fall in a water tank??
we had it one time our dog scared one and it tipped backwards in a water tank. It got right back out, though. Sometimes on hot days we will see them standing in them

You'll solve both problems if you convert the Bobcat to run on methane...just a suggestion
How many will you calf. Grate set up and sheds hope goes well for you
Around 200
