BLOOD RED SKIES off of Ram it Down, will give you a vocal performance you will never forget, and the song is quite dynamic so there's something to analyze, do it next and you won't be disappointed 🤘
My favourite Priest album of all time and I've been following them since 1979. Every single track on this album is indelibley forged into my brain and my favourite track on this album is and always will be 'The Sentinel'. First one I learned as a guitarist and an inspiration for some of my work in my fantasy art phase of the 80's..🎸✏️❤
Screaming for Vengeance and this album Defenders of the Faith, two of the best back to back albums, especially for any teenage metalhead in the 80's. Just load the walkman, jump on the BMX and adventure was mine!
That was the 2nd time Priest had killer back to back albums. The 1st time was in '78 with Stained Class and Killing Machine (a.k.a Hell Bent for Leather in the U.S.) in my opinion. \m/ 😎\m/
Hey Doug, as somebody already mentioned, their stage set for that tour included a mechanical Metallion. And they also had an incredible sound system for that tour. They were incredibly loud, but they sounded really good. My favorite Judas Priest tunes are from the 70’s. You might want to check out Beyond The Realms Of Death.
It's really nice to see how Doug reacts EXACTLY the way we metalheads reacted to this song when we first time heard it. Don't mean the analysis. The air drumming and the headbanging. :D
Arguably one of the best, most impactful and most beloved albums from one of the true heavy metal giants. A real treat! Please do more from Defenders, or simply do the whole album. It is that good. Thank you ☺️👍
Love Defenders of the Faith much more than Screaming for Vengeance, and as a commercial single, Some Heads are Gonna Roll more than the burned out You’ve Got Another Thing Coming…
Thanks for bring this one to us Doug. JP are legends. One of my favorite bands of all time, KK and Glenm Tipton guitars together were amazing. From the classics, i recommend a full listenig to "Stained Class", "Killing Machine", "British Steel" or "Screaming for Vengeance". From new stuff, the most recent albuns, "Firepower" and "Invincible Shield", are two pure modern bangers 🤘
This is the album where you can really see their transition from NWOBHM to proto-Yngwie style power metal right down to the classically inspired licks and harmonies
The band does that quite a lot, create characters that are depicted in their albums, and sometimes they put messages related to them. Screaming for Vengeance, Defenders of the Faith, Angel of Retribution, Painkiller...
I'm a huge JP fan and although this song didn't come off the Screaming For Vengeance album I was 10 when the that album dropped and I started playing drums 6 months later so JP was a big part of my drumming journey Fun (?) music fact: As we now know Rob Halford is gay and he said this song is about gratifying (🤔) another person haha True info the interviews are out there As a kid I not a clue 😮😅
Yeeeeeessss more Judas Priest doug. You need to do an EPL on Nostradamus their 2008 concept album that is their most operatic and symphonic release ever.
@catmus1506 I love Nostradamus, the variety of rhythms is great, the distortion-free transitions accompanied by Halford's melodic voice are beautiful, the guitar solos are brutally creative🤘🏼
I'm not going to deny the nostalgia here (DotF was one of the very first metal albums I owned as a wee lad back in the day) but it's my favourite JP album by a sizeable margin.
Check the heaviest album made in the whole 1970`s , genre defining "Unleashed in the East"(original 9 track release) -Live in Japan 1979. It wraps up nicely Priest´s 70´s more progressive style. Very much relevant album today. Hope you can do whole album: Exciter, Running Wild, Sinner, The Ripper, The Green Manalishi, Diamonds and Rust, Victim of Changes, Genocide, Tyrant. Of the 70`s songs pick up "Beyond the Realms of Death" from Stained Class (1978). 80´s "Electric Eye" from Screaming for Vengeance(1982) or " The Sentinel" from "Defenders" (1984).
Judas Priest are in Japan and photos have just gone up showing Hill with Lovebites' Haruna plus Hall and Hill towering over Haruna and Asami who look very tiny in comparison. They got together before the Priest performance and seem to be good friends.
The Olde Priest (Sad Wings, Sin after sin, Stained Class), then the Classic Priest (Killing Machine, British Steel) and finally the Pinnacle Priest from which the Screaming for Vengeance and Defenders of faith are the master pieces. Hellion - Electric Eye, Screaming for Vengeance, Riding on the wind, Freewheel Burning, The Sentinel and Jawbreaker are MILESTONES in metal history.
Gonna keep begging until someone gets it. Wanna do a Priest album review? Do Invincible Shield!!! Halford at 73 will blow your mind. 🤯 I’m 53 and it’s my favorite Priest album by several thousand miles!
Thanks for More Priest, my absolute favorite band! They Have so many awesome songs, every album is filled with greatness! Maybe you want to go back to earlier stuff and check out THE RIPPER! Cheers
Hey Doug, great video as usual. I think you could give a try to this whole album. One of the best from Priest, for sure! The Sentinel, Some Heads are Gonna Roll, Jawbreaker, Eat me Alive, Love Bites, Night Comes Down - all great stuff! Screaming for Vengeance album is as good as this one. It would be nice to see videos with other songs or the whole side (the whole albums worth it). Happy Holidays! See you in 2025! Greetings from Brazil!
Priest is top of Heavy Metal. Look at the albums Firepower, Redeemer of souls and Angel of Retribution. This is great stuff. Greatings from Germany. I enjoy your channel. Carry on this way.
This and Painkiller are the only non-fluff songs you've heard... You need, The Sentinel and Screaming For Vengeance. Then do the Painkiller album... It's worth it 🤘😎
I used to play 47 JP songs on my guitar in the 90's - Painkiller included - I learned to play songs from their 2014 album by ear - react to their latest song - here's the title to the video - JUDAS PRIEST 'PANIC ATTACK' - RECORDED LIVE DURING THE INVINCIBLE SHIELD TOUR - SUMMER 2024 - it's on their channel - it's an awesome song
Great song. We listened to it performed by Aria with Russian lyrics about fear and valor, when the USSR was still there and had no idea who wrote this song and what it was about :))) lol
One of my faves is the opening for their Screaming for Vengeance album, The Hellion, followed by Electric Eye. Interesting time in the 80s during the cold war, before the SDI program. A spy satellite sneering at its prey. 😅 No super spectacular vocals in this one, but an explosive opening and I like bridge after the solo with Downing and Tipton driving in synch.
The best Priest album. I had the 'Priest...Live!' album before I heard this album and was surprised that 4 of my favourite tracks were taken from 'Defenders of the Faith'.
My first Priest album. So good. I still have the vinyl original I bought back in 84. You have to do all of those songs you mentioned on this album. One of my favorites on this album is Love Bites.
Hey Doug = you SHOULD check an EXPLANATION of this song's lyrics - you can find this explanation in the autobiography written by Rob Halford - Im TOTALLY certain that you will be VERY VERY VERY SURPRISED ;)))))))))))))))))))))))))) lol lol lol
January 84 huh😊 depending on what day in January I turn 22 that year on January 20th and yes I saw them during the screaming for vengeance to her I saw him again during the defenders of the faith tour the painkillers tour they were great every time
Thank You again. It's time for Wishbone Ash and the album Argus from 1972. I think it's the best progrock ever. The whole album is fantastic and I would enjoy your reaction 😊. / Rolf from Stockholm
By the way young man when I saw him during defenders of the faith that thing you see on the album cover surrounded the stage and they came up out of the mouths of that creature
Great album, great song in, in their day they were one of the best bands to see live. You need to do a review of beyond the Realms of death. Go back to some of the older albums. Like Sad Wings of Destiny and RocknRolla. Don't get me wrong all the albums are great but you got to start at the beginning and get the classic feel period LOL
Doug is a national treasure. The price of Kansas City and KU. I know you do a lot of popular metal bands everyone knows, but I'm just going to through something more obscure into the void and hope you catch it. The band is Pig. The song is "Baptise, Bless & Bleed." Pig is an industrial metal band by Raymond Watts that's been around almost 40 years. Think in the style of Nine Inch Nails and Trent Reznor. Happy New Year.
Doug, you are on the right album. The serious cuts are The Sentinel and Freewheel Burning
Agreed, love both of those tracks SO much...
The Sentinel from this album could be my favourite Priest song.
The Sentinel is amazing.
The Sentinel is like a quintessential classic heavy metal song.
An absolute classic !
@@lowdz68 So hard to sing tho!! I was in a band in college and we tried to do that one. I still can’t hit those highs like Rob does on the Sentinel.
@@thadoverocker8771 I think I can. It's not as difficult as something like Victim of Changes or Dreamer Deceiver and Deceiver.
Who's going to tell him what this song is about? 😂
Good times in Ibiza 😂
Nope.
bummer
not me!
read halfords book.
20 cent candies
Try Beyond the realms of death!
My favorite song by priest Beyond the realms of death is amazing
Yep. My absolute favorite from Judas Priest!
Rob Halford in his autobiography book gives a very interesting explanation of what "Jawbreaker" is.....
I don't have the heart to tell him :D
Tell me more.
I guess you could call it a Frankenstein monster...
@@michael_k7356 HAHA!
Has anyone seen the MASH movie? The character Jawbreaker? 😅
BLOOD RED SKIES off of Ram it Down, will give you a vocal performance you will never forget, and the song is quite dynamic so there's something to analyze, do it next and you won't be disappointed 🤘

From Defenders and Judas Priest in general you HAVE to listen to The Sentinel. An absolute classic !
Beyond the Realms of Death off Stained Class. My favorite track and album from them!
: Judas Priest - Blood red skies ( Ram It Down )
My All time Fav Judas Priest song ever!!!!! Inspired by Terminator.
I agree. Amazing song
Or hard as iron!
'Night comes down' is my favorite off this album.
You should hear their version of Joan Baez's ''Diamonds and Rust''
I prefer the first bouncy and less polished version recorded before the one on Sin after sin.
Live versions are also great
@Doug Helvering the creature on the cover is called the Metallian. The bird on Screaming For Vengeance is the Hellion.
The stage set for the Defenders tour was that cover. Show opened with Halford coming out of the "Metallian's" mouth. Absolutely epic!
This whole album was fan-f’in-tastic! One of KK’s best solos imo
Agreed and Blood Red Skies as well, and his half of Rick hard ride free is stellar
Rick from walking dead? Jaja
You should listen to Beyond The Realms Of Death off the album Stained Class. Incredible vocals and one of my favorite guitar solos
Check out Beyond the Realms of Death and also Exciter. Those songs are killer and Stained Class is a great album
Screaming for Vengeance and this album Defenders of the Faith, two of the best back to back albums, especially for any teenage metalhead in the 80's. Just load the walkman, jump on the BMX and adventure was mine!
YEAP.

That was the year they won loudest band in Hit Parader. This tour was my first Metal concert.
The Sentinel - it's a must!!!
It's really nice to see how Doug reacts EXACTLY the way we metalheads reacted to this song when we first time heard it.
Don't mean the analysis. The air drumming and the headbanging. :D
10/10 album. pick anyone no matter, it's a banger

Defenders will always be my favorite JP album! SFV was excellent though.
Sentinel is my favorite, and this is my favorite Priest album. You could easily do this whole album!❤
DELIVERING THE GOODS!!!!!!! Review that great song
Thanks for bring this one to us Doug. JP are legends. One of my favorite bands of all time, KK and Glenm Tipton guitars together were amazing. @TheRiconegro me too. I love 70's and 80's Priest albuns
This channel is so awesome. Feelgood vibes, great analysis and just great content all over.
This is the album where you can really see their transition from NWOBHM to proto-Yngwie style power metal right down to the classically inspired licks and harmonies
It's a cracking album. Full of fabulous metal tunes
The band does that quite a lot, create characters that are depicted in their albums, and sometimes they put messages related to them. Screaming for Vengeance, Defenders of the Faith, Angel of Retribution, Painkiller...
Found Priest in 1980 and '84 Defenders tour was my first concert at 16. Seen them something like 15 times over the years. Priest!!!
Victim of Changes (live at the seminole) Travis on drums
I saw them live this year. Rob can still hit those notes and absolutely kill it. He is still a force of nature.
The jaw breaker song in this album is "The Sentinel"
Defenders of the faith is where heavy metal peaked. ❤
I bought this album on vinyl for my birthday. Not a single miss on this record.
I Love this song!
The greatest Judas Priest album imo. Please do an album reaction. "Metal-Lion"
Over 75% of his songs are about gay sex 😂
This album, The Sentinel, Some Heads Are Gonna Roll, Rock Hard Ride Free, Night Comes Down
Yeeeeeessss more Judas Priest doug. You need to do an EPL on Nostradamus their 2008 concept album that is their most operatic and symphonic release ever.
Doug you gotta do a side at a time on this one. Especially the first side. One of the best metal albums.
"Some Heads are Gonna Roll" is a gem!
Judas Priest!!!❤
Nostradamus, Beyond the realms of death, A Touch of evil, Revelations, Hellrider!!!
Nice to see someone else give some love to Nostradamus. Love that album, but I must listen to it in whole every time.
@catmus1506 I love Nostradamus, the variety of rhythms is great, the distortion-free transitions accompanied by Halford's melodic voice are beautiful, the guitar solos are brutally creative🤘🏼
Run of the mill
I'm not going to deny the nostalgia here (DotF was one of the very first metal albums I owned as a wee lad back in the day) but it's my favourite JP album by a sizeable margin.
I would pick any of the songs from their performance in Dortmund 1983. Preferably Victim of Changes or Freewheel Burning 🤘😀
Check the heaviest album made in the whole 1970`s , genre defining "Unleashed in the East"(original 9 track release) -Live in Japan 1979. It wraps up nicely Priest´s 70´s more progressive style. Very much relevant album today.

Half of Screaming for Vengeance. This when Priest picked up the gauntlet thrown by the new upstarts of the new wave of British heavy metal, and how!
Gonna keep begging until someone gets it. Wanna do a Priest album review? Do Invincible Shield!!!
Halford at 73 will blow your mind. 🤯
I’m 53 and it’s my favorite Priest album by several thousand miles!
Beyond the realms of death
This is one of the best metal albums ever! Just keep doing songs from it and all will be good. Thanks for making my Monday a Metal Monday.
Glenn Tipton is sorely underrated outside of Metal. One of the greats.
Thanks for More Priest, my absolute favorite band! They Have so many awesome songs, every album is filled with greatness! Maybe you want to go back to earlier stuff and check out THE RIPPER! Cheers
First Priest show Pueblo Co 7/22/84 I was 13 changed my life! By the way it was hot as Hell.
If you want a deep dive into Judas Priest, you should listen to the Sad Wings of Destiny album
That song is basically about a monster getting ready to attack based on the creature on the cover of the album
Hey Doug, great video as usual. I think you could give a try to this whole album. One of the best from Priest, for sure! you can listen to the entire album "Stained Class", it's a great Priest album 🤘
Maybe my personal favourite along with Defenders and Painkiller. Such a great album, also way ahead of its time.
Defenders is my favorite JP album!

Recommend "Electric Eye (Official Video)" where Priest are playing to 300,000 people. And Rob makes one of the greatest live entrances of all time.
Thought he would have done a Maiden video seeing Nico just retired
A great choice of song from a great album.
Hello maestro, I think side of screaming for vengeance will be a great episode for The dayly Doug. Greetings and happy holidays. Merry Christmas.
Doug and I gave the Bigfoot a pedicure for Christmas 🎄🎁
More Defenders of the Faith!
Judas Priest - Let Us Prey / Call for the Priest... Album is Sin After Sin.
Diamonds and Rust. And beyond the reals of Death ❤❤
The best Priest album. I had the 'Priest...Live!' album before I heard this album and was surprised that 4 of my favourite tracks were taken from 'Defenders of the Faith'.
Dr. Doug, you mentioned at the beginning of the video that this is the last metal Monday of the 2024 calendar year, there are two Mondays left.
My first Priest album. So good. I still have the vinyl original I bought back in 84. You have to do all of those songs you mentioned on this album. One of my favorites on this album is Love Bites.
Next, I suggest Beyond the Realms of Death, Exciter (Unleashed in the East version), Helion/Electric Eye & Touch of Evil 🤘
You need to do "Beyond The Realms of Death". That will blow your mind lyrically as well as musically.
Screaming for Vengeance or The Sentinel.
Eat me alive. Same album. Dof is a great album.

Run of the Mill is their best and most underrated track
This album for me is the highest point of this legendary band. 🤘😚🤘
So many good songs on this album. You can just pick a random and enjoy
By the way young man when I saw him during defenders of the faith that thing you see on the album cover surrounded the stage and they came up out of the mouths of that creature
all of side 2 and freewheel burning are the shiznit! doug give it all a listen if you haven't already. you won't regret it.
