I have lots of IKEA products that have lasted me more than 12 years and are still going strong : all my furniture (including HEMNES stuff and bed, and leather couch, and nearly all the kitchen products (I don't buy the non stick cookware, that never lasts, no matter the brand), and I bought my glass french press 2 years ago, no issue whatsoever. The only thing I might change this year is my mattress, but after 12 years, it's pretty standard.

I used to own a Bodum Chambord French press, that is until my wife started making tea in it. She didn’t warm the glass before adding the boiling water and shattered it. I picked up a French press at IKEA as a temporary replacement and I actually like it. It’s not the best, but it does produce a decent coffee. A little more grounds make it through the filter and I don’t especially care for the plastic, but it served its purpose quite well until I found a more decent replacement. Hi James, the reason you're having trouble with the metal pour-over 'funnel' is because you used a paper filter. If you had used the included metal filter, the ridges on the funnel lifts it slightly away from the sides, allowing water to drain better. When you use paper, it sticks to the side too much and forcing the liquid to drain only through the small hole at the bottom.

I have the funnel and love it. It's meant to use on top of a cup or mug, so the bottom tube isn't in the way. I like that the round thing comes off, it makes it easy to clean. I actually don't use it for coffee. I use it for straining other stuff. For example, straining fruit puree while making strawberry vinegar.

I have it as well and love it! We actually do use it for coffee (with a paper filter) and it’s great. The funnel is awesome for putting on top of a carafe without getting coffee everywhere 😊

I actually really like the french press! (The glass one) We got it a while ago because i wanted to start making some more flavourful coffee in less than the 30 minutes our machine takes and for a beginner like me, i feel it really holds up well! I do pre-heat it to prevent as much sudden cold to hot damage i can, but other than that, i'm extremely pleased with it. (I do also have a hand grinder, but i got it for like 40 or 50 bucks? grinds very well, probably not as even as a professional one, but good enough for my needs)

One thing I do like about the moka pot is that it's stainless steel and not aluminium. You are not supposed to drink acidic liquids like coffee from an aluminium container. It reacts with it and actually becomes a neurotoxin. So I've been looking for a stainless steel one. I might buy it for that reason alone. All the Italian ones seem to be in aluminium.

My four year old son is obsessed with Toy Story 4, and thinks the word "trash" is hilarious. He was playing while I watched your video, heard you say the word "trash" 3 times in a row and complely lost it. It was the funniest thing he ever heard. So if this whole RUclips coffee reviewer thing doesn't work out, you've definitely got a career as a comedian for children 😂

A stainless Moka pot for that price? Sweet! Compare that to a Contessa, Carmencita, or Alessi 9090. Only what's nice about the 9090 is that it latches closed instead of screwing so you don't need a towel to hold the base if you pre-heat your water separately like he does.
