Hi Aaron, thanks for watching! Please keep in mind this only refers to Texas State Park waters. To take advantage of the exemption, you have to be within the boundary of a State Park, which usually means fishing from the bank or a pier. So sorry if this wasn't elaborated enough in the video! For more information, see the Free Fishing in State Parks web pages at tpwd.texas.gov.
@@FishingBooker Ah, thanks for the clarification. Heard it as "fishing from the banks of Texas waters" and assumed that meant all water. I've got a license, so no worry either way
Hey there and thanks for watching! This really all depends on whether you're a resident or not, how frequently you fish throughout the year, etc. Also, keep in mind that for some lakes, such as Lake Texoma, you can get a separate "Lake Texoma License" for $12 and fish anywhere on the lake. You can find out more and purchase your fishing license on the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department website or at local retailers. If you want to try a guided trip, check out fishingbooker.com or our app. Tight lines!
Hi there! Yes, you still need to purchase a license when practicing catch and release. For more info on exceptions, visit our blog by clicking on the link in the description. Hope this helps :)
Since Possum Kingdom Lake is on State Park territory, you can fish from shore without a license. However, fishing from a boat will still require a freshwater endorsement. Also, keep in mind, the lake has special regulations on some types of fish, so be sure to visit the Texas Parks & Wildlife website for more info. Hope this helps and tight lines!
Hello, i have family from that are not from texas nor from the US visiting for the beginning of the year, how can they purchase a fishing license for a day or two?
Hi Maximo, thanks for watching! They can purchase a non-resident all-water fishing license (with either a freshwater or saltwater endorsement, depending on where ya'll plan on fishing) either online or in-person at any TPWD office, or in hardware stores, tackle shops, gun shops, and even grocery stores across the state. Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any more questions, tight lines! 🎣
Hey my dad is not a US citizen but has lived here for over 18 years can he buy a one year all water fishing license in Texas and if so is it better to buy online or in person
Hi Anthony, thanks for watching! You don't necessarily have to be a US citizen in order to be a legal state resident. Your father can still purchase a TX resident fishing license by showing proof that he's lived in Texas for the last six months. He can do this by showing a Texas driver's license, vehicle registration, utility bills, pay-check receipts, etc. You can learn more about the different requirements by visiting the Texas Parks & Wildlife website at tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/outdoor-annual/licenses/purchase-requirements. When he's ready, he can purchase his license online at txfgsales.com. Let us know if ya'll need any other help, tight lines! 🎣
I still don’t understand why you need a license for something man has been doing since the dawn of our creation who decided I have to pay just to feed myself
Hi Neal, thanks for your comment. Rules and regulations are put in place in order to protect the fisheries we love so much. License sales fund these programs and support the management of fish and wildlife resources. Hope this helps :)
Have never had one , and I fish all the time catch & release etc. I don't believe in having to pay a fee to enjoy life & have fun by simply fishing , plus I refuse to give up my S.S.N !! Judge me harshly if you want , but that's my individual beliefs !!
So I physically cannot fish due to a permanent arm and shoulder injury. Do I need a license to go out with some friends and watch them fish if I am not actively participating?
Hi there, thanks for watching! No, if you are not participating in any fishing-related activities, then you do not need a fishing license. However, if you do choose to participate, which includes netting fish, baiting hooks, and even holding the rod for a few seconds, you'll technically need to get one. Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any more questions! 🎣
Hi Kimberly, thanks for watching! In Texas, kids under the age of 17 are not required to have a fishing license. However, since fishing regulations can change year to year, remember to always check before you head out. Let us know if you need any other info and tight lines!
I’m under 17 and I want to catch and release some fish in a nearby lake do I need a license?
Hi there, thanks for your comment! No, anglers under the age of 17 don’t need a license to fish in Texas. Enjoy 😊
Wow, was never aware that bank fishing public waters doesn’t require a license. Great info
