Don't forget the show was for kids. I remember watching this with my siblings the show was very popular with the under 12 crowd. We thought the kids all hiding when the parents turned their backs hilarious.@@gretchennelson7056
If they added more eposides of them facing obstacles of a blended family it would have been more interesting .No more talk about the kids' mom or dad, and was it that easy for Greg to call Carol mom and for Marcia to accept Mike as their father. I can see Bobby and Cindy willing to call Mike and Carol mom and dad, but the oldest would be more hesitant. Carol and Alice are getting in eachothers way, as Carol is trying to adjust to having someone to help with the housework. Mike adjusted to having three daughters.
in my opinion, Robert Reed most definitely added a touch of class to the show. without him being Americas dad at that time, I don’t think the show would have had the same longevity. he and Florence had such believable chemistry
A fellow Brady Bunch fan once asked me to list the aliases the six kids used in their letters to Dear Libby. What a great trivia question! I managed to remember four of them. I couldn't remember Feeling Awful and Desperately Worried.
Little Brady location fun fact: the fictitious town of Kingsford, Illinois is almost exactly 2,000 miles away from the Brady home in Studio City. If you Google the directions from Studio City to Palatine, Illinois, you get almost 2,000 miles. In 1969, this would have been a vague clue, pre-internet, as to the state and city the Bradys lived.
This was back during the time when a stranger could knock on your door in the evening and say they were the author of a column for the local newspaper and you would probably believe them.
I hadn’t noticed that!!! Clearly one of the many Brady blocking bloopers we love so much about the show 😂 One explanation for the error might be the fact that the adults filmed all of the grownups-only scenes in the evening, after the children all went home. So maybe costuming hadn’t been notified. I’m surprised the actors didn’t catch onto this and make the correction themselves. Costuming bloopers like this happened several times in the first season. The episode “To Move or Not to Move” is one of those where Carol comes downstairs in the morning wearing the exact same outfit she wore the evening before.

Dumb show. First of all, if Alice spoke to both of them about this, (they both approached Alice); that means she knew neither one wrote the letter; and she should have just told them; and everyone else. And how often did Dear Abby (or Dear Libby as they're calling her here) do house calls? And I love how Dear Libby walks in and even Alice, a 45 year old adult, like hides behind a couch... If Libby wanted to kill the suspense, she could have just printed an update in next weeks column; clearing things up as she did doing this stupid house call. Reality quotient: Zero.
Did Kingsford, Illinois ever exist, or is it a fictional location? I found Kingsfords in Australia, The United Kingdom, Michigan, and Indiana but not in Illinois.
What about Tiger? I don't think he would've written anything to Dear Libby. Though he might've had an indirect part with Alice as "Innocent Bystander"😉
Couldn’t Dear Libby just have called or written a letter. Seems like a waste of time and money (perhaps she expensed it to the company) to do a personal visit. NOT GOOD!
I thought it was the maid - she didnt like having to clean up after 3 more kids but... no, there is no twist - this show really is as boring as it seems. Nice and clean, with no black people, either. This show is racist and horrible.
I love the Brady Bunch ❤so much
As do i 😊
I'm a millennial but I just adore the Brady bunch! It's timeless!
This was the first episode after the pilot. It was one of the best.
That’s putting it nicely. Warning to all the diabetics out there, check your blood sugar after watching this.

Robert Reed was such a great actor.
Exactly 💯
I love the Brady Bunch. Hands up!
That house was absolutely breathtaking! Mike was an architect.
Yes that episode was the best I love the Brady Bunch so much 💗😍😍😍😍😍😍💘💘💘💘💘💘💝💝💝💝💝💝
Gotta love how Alice also wrote a letter to Dear Libby about "Harried and Hopeless"...
My favourite character was Alice. As a child we watched the Brady bunch religiously.
Alice was funny, unlike the rest of the cast.
I wrote to her as a child and she wrote back! (A signed photo)😊
At the time The brady brunch aired ! America was America God bless America..

I don't think there's any doubt they lived in Southern California. San Fernando Valley quintessential circa '50s-60s.
When I was a kid, I thought that everyone had a brady bunch life except me 😢
many of us are Harried and Hopeless, just trying to get by while these kids scream and cheer that they aren't us!
Same here. Mine was anything, but
I've always loved the Brady bunch it's a happy show. Alice was funny and a great housekeeper.
If it wasn't for Alice, they wouldn't have lasted this long
3:09 What a relief
Love the groovy music that starts playing😅
Harry Hopeless! 😂😂😂
'Innocent Bystander', eh? 😏😂🤣
Yeah, I think Alice was up to some pretty nasty high jinks!
GUILT COMPLEX
Tiger would've played the part of Innocent Bystander as Alice
R.I.P To Robert Reed, Florence Henderson,Ann B Davis & Sherwood Schwartz, Still Miss You All
I miss when familes spent time together watcing movies etc
As soon as she introduces herself as Dear Libby, you can hear the TV being shut off in the background.
@wgcds7jyg897 Omg, you're right! As many times as I've seen this episode, I never noticed that detail. 😲
Jan's outfit was such classic 70s little girl.
This was back during the time when a stranger could knock on your door in the evening and say they were the author of a column for the local newspaper and you would probably believe them.
Not really. That was just plot convenience. Not realistic.
Mike and Carol must have had time to run upstairs and change completely into entirely different outfits before TV time! Haha!

Fine, but what about the poor harried and hopeless family in Kingsford, Illinois?
Screw 'em. One parent probably did have bratty kids.
They became the dona party.

They changed clothes before reaching the living room!😂
Well, Mike did say "as soon as the show's over" they'd go in. They probably threw that in to explain the clothing change.
Funny how Mike and Carol both changed their cloths from the den scene and then answering the door!

Virtually every boy who grew up in that era felt the same about Maureen.
