      Yeah, it was pretty hard to breathe in the entire skyscraper, which is why they had it aerosolized. It's much more convenient to breathe in a building like that when it's made of tiny dust particles.

    • @DanniDuck
      @DanniDuck Месяц назад +19

      They are (supposed) to have measures in place to help prevent the dust, but I guess they didn't care or they didn't make a difference. For example, they could've done it when it was raining outside, or sprayed a bunch of water. The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality is in charge of the regulations.

    For those who dont know, this building was vacant for years and in disrepair. It was damaged by a hurricane years ago. It was too expensive to repair and no one was interested in doing so. Unless you're from down here you likely dont understand what hurricane damage can do to a building.

    Built for $40MM in 1981, sold for $14MM in 2007 . . . and that was when it was still intact. (It was a money pit, unable to compete with much less expensive low-rise office parks.)
    Estimated cost of repairs after Hurricane Laura (2020) was $130MM, and the insurance company was not about to pay ten times what the place was worth, so it sat there, boarded up, until now. The land is still in private hands; no word on what their plans are but it certainly won't be 26 stories of unaffordable office space.
