I’m not selling myself short. I am a musician, music is a major motivator. Here’s a story young lad. I was 14 when disturbed barely scratched the surface of any public radar. I came across by happenstance a cassette tape at Wilson’s Leather promoting Stupify/The Game. I liked it. Kept them in my rotation since. After my terms of service overseas, I came home and chased my dream of being a professional musician. Guess what…. I fucking made it. I got to thank Christian Machado from Ill Nino, Lance Arny from FLAW and producers I personally know who are better men than me personally for their music that got me through as well. It’s just being humble and not forgetting where you came from. I thank God for everything, isn’t it ok that I appreciate being inspired by those He created as well? My service ended almost 20 years ago. I’m just an old salt remembering his youth.

This is music to my ears. Hearing Disturbed has no plans on stopping anytime soon!
First time I saw Disturbed was opening for Fuel in 2000. They blew me away and I bought that first CD the next day and it didn't come out of my player for at least a month. Saw them two more times on the following tours and they were never less than AWESOME. Will always be my favorite band to come out in the 2000's and definitely the best representation of where our 80's metal progressed.
Their stage shows were very reminiscent of the 80's bands that still cared about putting on a show and they owned a stage when they were on it.
(My first show as a very young teen was Iron Maiden's Powerslave Tour in 1985!)
Yeah - The '80s sure beat the hell out of the Eddie Vedder, "woe is me," staring at their shoes in their gas station attendant pants '90s garbage. The mid to late '90s was truly the death of Rock & Roll. Lenny Kravitz said it best, back then, when he sang, "Rock & Roll Is Dead."

I’ve seen Disturbed and Godsmack each twice. Always outstanding shows. Sully’s solo album “Avalon” may be my favorite of all time.
This Guy is such a humble individual, I always appreciate how he takes the time to invite fans in stage and he is so nice and comforting. He is a True Man. 👍 Rock On Disturbed 🤘 👌
I have grew up listening to both disturbed and Godsmack and I still am I’m 34 years old and I will always listen to metal punk rock whatever you wanna call it I like all kinds of music not just punk rock whatever old songs Dean Martin Frank Sinatra I like old country new country and pop whatever you wanna call it Selena Gomez pink All those guys

David Draiman and I had the same Otolaryngologist. I have a trach and my dr used to have pictures of singers saying thanks for working on them (their vocal cords) one day I go in for a visit and I look on the wall and see a picture of disturbed with David thanking the dr. I ask my Dr if David was his patient and he said yes that he was just there 2 days ago. I was like “wow that’s cool”

I’m so glad to hear David say this, I have no doubt the rest of Disturbed feels the same. I want Disturbed to make MANY more albums. The greatest band ever.
A Godsmack cover band could headline a tent. They're great live and I agree with their decision to focus on performing their awesome library!
People wanna hear what they know and what made them a fan in the first place.
I get that truly I do. Selfishly as a fan, I'd prefer they put out some new music going forward but if they don't want to do full album and media and press tours and all that I can understand that, but maybe don't do all that then, just if you get a cool idea put out tracks one at a time or just do a 4 song EP or something. You wouldn't need full on 12+ song albums when you're in a position like they're in, just keep playing the hits on the road and reaping what they've sewn over the last 20+ years, I totally understand that.
YES! One of the best rock bands of all time! Love Godsmack too.
I remember going to a bar, and seeing Stained, open for Godsmack. (could have been the other way around, long time ago)
I had no idea who either band was, but wow, what an awesome time!
Small place, having drinks at the bar with both bands, the energy was explosive.
Leather jackets, steel studs, and long hair, bouncing, and jamming around at full volume. What a time!

I have been a fan from the beginning. I admire the band for staying together and producing fantastic music. I admire David’s exceptional vocals. I love his voice. And, as a person who suffers from serious depression, their music has saved me more than once ❤️
I have a feeling that Sully and the crew are spent and need a break from writing and recording new material. But I also expect that itch to return within ten years and for us to hear some new stuff in the future. At least I hope so!

I remember seeing Disturbed open for Kittie at the Croation Cultural Centre in Burnaby BC. Had No idea who they were. David was wheeled on stage Hannibal Lector style I was blown away by their set. After their performance was done told my friends Disturbed is going to be huge no question.
It is rare that a band can keep your attention after a certain point. It makes sense. Some of these bands that keep putting out album after album with no one paying attention to is embarrassing.
I'll happily take another Disturbed album in the near future! I hope they never stop writing!

Got my tickets for the September show in Michigan. Been a disturbed fan since 2000 when I was in high school. Love that they are still going strong!
You gotta think for some bands the live gig is everything, and to some bands the artistic element is everything.
David is in my list of some of the top vocalists of all time. The undisputed champion being Freddy Mercury (imo).
The one thing I believe is that in this new resurgence of people buying full albums in LP - CD - Cassette most band such as Disturbed and Godsmack could just reissue there albums across the world and make a killing off them and concerts probably till they retire. The sales of used albums in my area has been in a uptick for the last 4 years and so far I don't see it slowing down and I sell the hell out of reissues all day long.
that would prob be the smartest thing to get the bag lol, like anniversary albums ect. i think people wanna go back to having physical copies, yeah streaming ect is easy but its not the same.

I'd hardly call him "down to earth ". I watched him bitch out 2 girls in the front row for not standing during his performance. That was at Gigantour 2013 when he was doing Device.

@Ear Servant No. What's disrespectful is demanding that if people don't want to stand for your performance, then they need to leave. The first 15 rows of that show were all VIP seats. And the first couple of rows were anywhere from $700 a ticket to $300 a ticket, depending on which bands package you got. Sorry but he was totally out of line.
I was 18 when I heard down with he sickness for the first time and all these years later I can say that bands like disturbed, godsmack, korn, etc... are needed today more than ever
I thought David would be a good guy. I was right, you can tell by the lyrics...Loved Disturbed from the beginning!!! Their videos support the view I have of this crazy time we are in. Good grief, for a man that does not give one shit about any of them....they will awake one day, I hope....❤ Jeannie
Making music has to be about the enjoyment of the process in 2023 because nobody is making money on albums anymore, but if you are sick of that process and you’re lucky enough to have a catalogue that will sell tickets to shows that’s ok.

It's all subjective, it's not about the style or difficulty of writing its about the entire band functioning as a solid unit
..doesn't matter what band/genre it is, a tight band is a good band
And that's what makes me not only a musician but a dangerous one...practicing even the most elementary of licks and tricks is how one remains dangerous on their instrument.
Anyone can make a pizza but if you can't deliver...doesn't matter how good it is. People want expert delivery.
I love respect and understand both bands and why they feel the way they do their at a point now where they are older and maybe protecting a legacy plays a role in Godsmack not wanting to continue making more music maybe it is about the emotional toll putting yourself out there plays into songwriting but I could never look at a band and ask more from them than what Godsmack has already given us their music was such a large part of my childhood that I will always love them and be grateful and if Disturbed went that same rout I would feel the same way about them but I adore that David Draiman still feels like he has a story to tell I'm not a kid anymore I've lived long enough to watch so many things change not only in the world I'm living in but in me as a person and listening to new music from the bands I grew up loving takes me to a place mentally where I'm not a grown man with a shaved head and a bad back no I'm a 16 year old kid again listening to a album absolutely excited about hearing new music without a care in the world ... When you get to where I am in life there are very few things that can make you feel like that again ... I'm not mad or even disappointed in the approach Godsmack is taking if anything the idea that their music will never change and will be almost like a time capsule is wonderful but as long as Disturbed keeps making music I'm gonna keep listening with complete excitement
It's easy making an album. But to make a really good album is not easy. And it's a lot of work and these people are already rich they don't need the money you have to really want it. How many bands that used to be great churn out lame albums.

I can see why older bands feel that way. If no one is buying albums, why put all that work into something that no one is going to buy and that so few of your established fans are even going to care about? Sure, you can still create just for artistic purposes, but you can do that in your living room, not a recording studio.

I've been to over a thousand concerts and seen some awesome shows and shitty shows, but Godsmack was the best one, hands down.

I haven't really cared much for Godsmack since their 'Faceless' album. I thought 'When Legends Rise' had a few good tracks but their new album... Just why?
I like most if not all of Disturbs albums but they've always been a band for me where I like about half of the album and I find the other half of the album so-so. Their new album was no different for me.
I'd say of the two bands, I like far more Disturbed songs than Godsmack songs but that first album by Godsmack, their self-titled... As with Disturbs 'Believe' album, they will always be my favourites from the bands!

DIsturbed is one of those bands that has turned into wine; they seem to be aging in a way that draws more fans.
superlatives fail me when it comes to Dave's gentle yet poignant delivery of how metal sometimes needs to be lightly described to those that tour with-in the 'life' that is an everyday to a true soldier.. ..cheers dave . .(. look closer dude, he's talking to you)..

Found disturbed on HBO before they got real big. That show was awesome . Went and burn the album when it dropped.
Devisive is phenomenal. I am using Don't Tell Me as my ring tone. I'm hooked on that track.

#SullyErna was put out to pasture, with good reason. It's my opinion, despite my personal beef with the outcome of their 10th anniversary "BASH" that had the most buzz I can remember and HD cameras were a new thing... aside from all of that nonsense, I haven't heard anything album wise from #godsmack since the "IV" album ... felt like every album since has been what #blackice was for #acdc (did it sell? Of course it did, as those godsmack albums did, but on the coat tails of prior work and diehard fans who are as ridiculous as the women who won't leave an abusive partner. #disturbed has had a rough release or two, but all of it ages very well and I can always put on at least 4 to 5 tracks of every album. Godsmack? After "IV" I struggle to pick 1 or 2 that don't make me yearn for the older stuff.
I saw Godsmack a few years ago at Virginia Beach.
It was like nobody cared, except this one drunk woman, having the time of her life anyway.
It's a shame because they actually put on a decent show, the crowd just seemed to young to really know who they were.

Its nice to see David not covered in tattoos. Tattoos and piercings are so played out.
It seems like people think if they make their eyes black, and cut holes in their ears and tattoo their face up.......... That this will give them a personality or make them cool.
In reality all it is doing is ruining your chance of a good career. That is why this face tattoo trend scares me so much. 18-20 year old kids are stamping up their faces and eliminating themselves from 95% of the job market let alone a good career.
My Brother has been denied server jobs because of his face tats........... and for his current server job he has to cover them up with make up.
That is no joke........... and it is stupid......... and the tattoo artists need to stop being irresponsible with those.
I believe it is probably time to pass a law about face tattoos. I don't know what it would be, but it is immoral to let an 18 year old ruin his life by tatting up his face.

Bands love not making new music. Especially when then they are this big. Like he said all the work and all the sacrifice. I.E. record labels want more money. Getting everyone in the same mindset. With playing your catalog, Everyone's been paid. Its like residual income on old albums. In fact, they probably have the money to fund a whole tour. Venues know they will pack the house. After all upfront money and taxes and expenses. The band made all of the revenue. Then they could stretch that out 50 years now like KISS. Be playing the same album you could hear for free at home and acting like their playing and singing at the show. Meanwhile, charge 400 to 500$ a head just to be singing with the backing tracks.
