I’ve seen a lot of hate on thp but I can never understand why. You guys are the most genuine and helpful hunting channel on RUclips. Can’t thank you enough for all your tips and good luck to you guys this spring
I'll tell you why, because there are always jerks on yt saying things they would never say to someone's face. They get off on stirring the pot and trying to get a reaction. You have to learn to ignore them.
@@craig5649 Really? When do they do that? I watch all of their videos and I haven't seen anything of the sort. As someone that started hunting as an adult their videos have helped me a ton and theyve always seemed like nice guys to me. If you bump a gobbler around his roost tree don't expect him to be in that tree the next few days. When they're roosted with hens I call for a little while and shut up, waiting to see (hear) which direction they travel. If you determine a regular pattern try to beat them to that spot and set up. They feel secure in that area so get a good hiding spot and wait. I'm old and don't run around the woods like my younger days so this method works good for me. I killed my first bird in 1973 before turkey hunting was cool. Good luck to everyone this spring.
That episode was seriously jam-packed with good useable information. I was taking notes like I was back in school (except enjoying it this time). Thanks for the great video. Always helps to get tips on scouting
Great tips from great young men. THP is clearly best on YT. M 70 years young and have to train year round to be in shape to bow hunt whitetails. Watching their channel keeps me motivated.
I was learning to call geese without a call...I thought it would be cool....l thought l was doing great... until one after another....Crows started showing up.
Great work. You guys are fantastic. Long time turkey hunter (32yrs) and learned some stuff. You’ve explained to me why my “honey hole” for turkeys is so good. Near a long open field, just into the timber, but the only wooded property along this field with a flat bench before rolling down deep in a creek bed. Now I know the “why” they are there and not both neighbors’ places. 👍🏻
Thanks THP for including the south in y’all’s tips!!! I live by the Okefenokee Swamp in South Georgia and there isn’t very much content on hunting this area. I bought my first license in September so I’m new at hunting and let me tell ya! Hunting down here is tough!!! I tagged my first deer using info I got from y’all’s Mississippi workshop. So thanks guys!!! If y’all get a chance come down here to the swamp and give it a go!
I’m a big fan boy I can’t lie and I know that place... secrets safe with me tho. I can appreciate y’all keeping locals in the clear and saving peoples “honey holes” kept as sacred as possible. I’m honored to have hunted the same area you all have to be honest. Keep smacking red heads in this 2021 tour.
I know most of your turkeys fall to that pair of 870s you guys have but could you do a shell/choke setup video or just mention it in one of the other videos? I’m super stoked for the turkey tour guys, good luck.
Bert Lensing I hear ya and I like that as well. I agree people get too caught up in that. I know a whiz bang choke and a 10 dollar turkey shell don’t kill turkeys. Proper scouting and knowledge of how to set up and work a bird are far more important. I admit I am a bit of a gear junkie at times, and was just curious what the setup was.
Great info I’m a virgin turkey hunter! Hopefully get my first bird this year out here in Indiana!! Would love for you guys to come here, we have awesome public land with monster bucks and big toms!!
I found a ton of birds on public this deer season and watched them roost several different days excited for turkey season this year. Hope it’s not totally loaded with people also cause I’m sure I wasn’t the only person to see them in there. As many as 40 birds running together
In the winter when the birds are all flocked up they have a totally different pattern than they do come spring. This could include using a totally different area as there needs and priority’s change. I would definitely scout it early enough to find where they are now
I like liv'n in north central Arkansas but in my zone there's only a spring turkey season but Missouri is only 12 miles away so I can hunt two different states in a day. Depends on were the bad weather is.
Welp, after an unsuccessful deer season (first ever and started halfway thru)…I’m sold on the private land I use for Turkey for may. Open fields, with a nice creek running thru the timber on the edge. I don’t like guns so I’m using my bow. Feel confident I’ll get some Turkey action for my birthday

Awesome content especially for new hunters. Gonna take my 8 year old daughter out this year. Our first year turkey hunting, will be in SC have any tips. Thanks for what you guys do
As a fellow SC public land hunter who's been hunting turkey for 5 years and still yet to bag one while having a good amount of success with deer, I'll give you my perspective on turkeys here. By the way, I also take my 9 yearold son out and he has a blast. We've had multiple encounters in fields but have never been able to quite get them in range. Here in the lowcountry the birds get used to being called to on our smaller WMA properties very quickly and even the decoys don't always seem to do much. This season, we'll probably focus more around some clear cuts and some wooded ambush sights deeper into properties. Watch out for snakes and Good Luck to Y'all! PS, I think the lottery hunts applications expired yesterday or the day before, but next year try and put down for some of them near you (youth or adult). My buddy who works for DNR has been advising me to do this for a few years, and I finally did so this season for the youth ones to take my son on. The birds on the lottery properties face a lot less pressure.
@@jimtadlock3488 Oh yes, the main one we like to hunt the most was extremely difficult to drive through last season. However, that did cut out some of the pressure and forced us to find some new locations on it. I'm hoping this rain will slow down soon. Otherwise, it's going to be similar to last year. I would imagine today, most vehicles would get stuck on the main road through it.
