    That's a lot of electrical gear, very well thought out and fitted. I haven't a clue what's behind the panel on our boat. 😄
    Keep well both.

    Another good video, thanks. By the way they're 'bus' bars, not buzz bars. (If your bus bars are buzzing you've probably connected them to the a/c 😅).

    Adi I know you were a Gas Fitter; but as an ex Sparky (a long time ago now), I have to say you have some very good Electrical skills and knowhow. Well done you. You guys have both put in some serious work to creating your new home, I cant wait to see the 'Final Reveal' and the watch your many adventures unfold.

      Thankyou Gary, That's nice of you to say. I am really proud of Ady for giving this a go. He has worried about it for 2 years, done so much research, asked so many questions and got lots of advice. Our aim for this project was to see if we could build a home ourselves doing all or as much of the work as we can ourselves no matter how long it took and now we are nearing the end it is feeling an even bigger achievement. We have learnt so much along the way. We are glad you are enjoying watching our progress 👍

      I love watching the progress and admire you both greatly (as I do Chris M) for taking the plunge and embracing this way of life. Really think when you are on the water you will share some great Vlogs. Brilliant achievement, you should both be rightfully proud of yourselves.

    It's all coming together nicely, hope grandad is soon feeling better.
    Just seeing it all being connected like this is a bit confusing though. It would be nice if you could do a separate video talking us through the whole electrical system, complete with a diagram.
    Looking forward to the next installment.

      Thankyou Tony, We have felt rotten but hopefully over the worst now. It is very confusing but as more goes in it starts to be a lot more explainable. We have to be careful its not done like a tutorial as Ady is not qualified to do so and we don't want people to copy without doing their own research and calculations 👍

    Looking good 👍 are you using a galvanic isolator? Had one on my sail boat and saved a fortune on zinc anodes after I installed it.. I used a victron and very happy with it

      Hello Adie, We haven't got a date yet. If we can afford to buy the rest of the stuff needed from the next 2 months income we hope that we can finish and launch in April but not putting too much pressure on ourselves until we have everything we want and need so we don't have to worry about anything else once we launch and head off 👍

    That's interesting about the RCD and alternator fusing. How did you find that out? I've only ever heard that one is necessary in US standards and even then a fuse is not neeeded if the alternator has a built in regulator.

    • @makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg
      @makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg  Год назад

      Hello Chris. How's your boat going? Yes we had read this on something but Ady wasn't sure he wanted to do it so he went to ask the boat builders across the way who said yes it is a requirement they want to see. I've just had a quick look to try and find where we first saw it but can't find it but will send it you if i find it. If you find anything out let me know 👍

      @@makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg The boat is going slowly and expensively! All insulated now so have now reached the arguing about how all the inside is going to look stage. Claire has grand ideas that don't match my own desire to reduce the amount of work needed to get there! I would recommend you fit a Sterling alternator protection device (Sterling APD12) as it would give a lot of piece of mind and they aren't very expensive compared to a new alternator if the fuse blows. They are very simple to wire up.

      @@vonasi2 yes we feel your pain lol. Yes Ady has been looking at the protection device as someone else mentioned it to us too. Keep going. The sun in coming 👍

    Hi Ady, You know on the domestic alternator to busbar did you use a 200 amp fuse? and after the busbar you added another fuse and in this episode you say a bigger fuse, would that be a 400 amp? Your blogs help me loads.

    • @makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg
      @makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg  2 месяца назад

      Hi. Yes the domestic alternator ( 175amp ) has a 200n amp fuse. The bigger mega fuse is 500 amp because my leisure battery bank total is 475 amp/hrs. Cheers for watching. I'm no expert. 👍

    You have me confused, I am building a boat and just sorting the battery wiring, I had followed some information on how to connect 4 batteries for the best results, that is by daisy chaining all the + and the same with the - neg, then the last 2 cables are what I would take to a fuse, and the negative to a shunt, but now seeing this video it looks like you have taken the positives off each battery onto a busbar (with no daisy chain) and the same with your negatives, all going to a busbar and then through a shunt ? will that give even 12 volts, convince me because I will do it your way, it's so much easier.

    • @makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg
      @makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg  2 месяца назад

      Hi. We've been continuously cruising since we left Nottingham in April and the batteries, touch wood, have worked great. I had equal lengths of cable from each battery to both positive and negative busbars. from advise given this "balances" the batteries better. I found it's the same with a lot of boat stuff that you want a clear answer and get 10 different ones !! I found the 12 volt boat group run by Graham Mills to be the best place for answers. 👍
