The best 'how to' videos out there - not doing my doors for a while, but I'll be back to watch this one again before I do! Thank you!

Brilliant job and very brave doing Mortise and Tennon but the result looks excellent, interested to see the 'tricky one' I am certain it will all work out as planned and when finished it will all enhance the Boat and help with temperature management. Look forward to next weeks video.

Cheers Gary. Yes the joints were a bit testing 😄. Good practise for the "tricky one" !! They've been a long time coming but have made the boat feel more complete. Have a good week. 👍

Great vid, reminded me of school wood working, doing it all with hand tools, one things for sure that’s a hell of a good looking strong door!

Thanks Nigel. Grandad said he wished he had payed more attention at school then wouldn't of had to spend so much time looking at woodwork videos on RUclips. They do finish the Bathroom off. 👍

Reminds me of school woodwork lessons, is there any reason you didn't use a mortice gauge? Finished result looks great. Keep safe both🙂

Cheers George. Didn't use a mortice gauge because I don't have one 🤣. Had to rely on lots and lots and lots of measuring !! Yeah we are pleased with how they turned out. Hope you have a good week. 👍

Hey you two great job you are doing can I ask a rather obscure question please do you get mozzies on your boat and if so what do you use to get rid thank you

Cheers Janice, Yes Mozzies are a pain. I think we have had to just accept they are part of this lifestyle. We do though use Avon's Skin so soft (original) each morning before we get dressed and so far we haven't had any major bites but do get lots of them in the boat. In the evening when we shut everything up we spray fly killer. In the morning the shower tray looks like a Mozzie grave site. while it's been hot we have been sleeping with our hatch in the bedroom open but always have the insect net frame up. Have a try of the Avon Skin so soft, it makes your skin feel nice too. We buy ours in bulk from Amazon or Ebay. Good luck 👍

Well done for a non carpenter you did a really great job. However you cheated using a router not a chisel, and, sorry, but the joints were a bit loose. My grandfather (born in 1885) was a carpenter and he used to cut all his joints by eye and didn't measure anything!! That was how the old timers did everything back then, he tried many times to teach me how to do perfect joints but failed, I still have all his tools. An easy way to remember what's what is. The tennon is the tongue, it sticks out and the mortis is the mouth, things go in it. No diamonds on it Nanny! I bet that you're pleased with the result.

Thanks Tony. We were told if we were gluing and pegging the joints they can be a bit loose but yes you are right they weren't completely tight. We will see how they go. Unfortunately a lot of the old skills are being lost but isn't it great when all that knowledge gets passed down. I did think about diamonds but Grandad put his foot down !! See you next week. 👍
