Every year my mother wanted a perfect tree so my father would drill holes into the trunk of the tree and then addextra branches to make the tree look perfectly shaped. They would also secure the tree by tying it to the wall surreptitiously so it could never fall over because there was so many ornaments all over the tree

My story to tell of decorating the tree is ... my dad made a plywood box to elevate the tree to make more room for gifts and after one year he added his own twist, he mounted the box on a turn table. One person on the floor turning the box while another put lights etc on, to choruses of slower, faster....

SO GLAD you are feeling better, it has been a very eventful year I am also delighted that you have had so many wonderful people around you to help. I totally agree with Stephanie, get a really big tree , cut the straggles off the top and bottom and end up with a beautiful tree , then if there are any bare spots I use fir garlands to fill it in. This year I’ve got a pencil tree though as I don’t have room for a bigger one😥. So I am really enjoying seeing everyone else’s big lovely trees. It's the perfect tree and just with lights was magnificent. How blessed you are Stephanie to have such a group of wonderful people to celebrate and as family while your own family is away.
Here's a tip that only took me 40 years of stringing lights to realize. To keep from getting dizzy and nearly passing out when going around and around and around the tree with the lights ... stand in one place and put them on more vertically. So with your three strands you could do 1/3 at a time by just spreading them out whilst staying in that 1/3 of the circumference of the tree. They're easier to take off that way too. Stunning tree.

I had a tree with woodland animals and huichol eggs that I bought over the years in and around Puerto Vallarta where I owned property. They had many days of processions though the streets to their cathedral. It was a wonderful celebration that went on for several weeks. My daughter has them at the house in Vermont where she has been in Quarantine since their NYC apt is short a home office and outdoor space for her toddlers. This year I spent 3 weeks over Thanksgiving there. I’m in NYC in my apartment and looking forward to next year with everything open here and everywhere. I hope everyone has a special day. Stephanie, thanks for the gift of your vlogs over the past year. You have brightened the lives of many with your humanity and can-do personality.

Thank you for letting me live vicariously through you all! The Netherlands is in lockdown and the only Christmas present we have in the house is 1 gift for our toddler, we didn't get the chance to get any thing for each other before lockdown started last week. We refuse to order online because the poor postal service is already over extended. Thankfully we did manage to get all our groceries ordered and delivered in time (we have ordered groceries more then 2 years, started when our baby was born). For our neighbors we are going to be making brownies and cookies tomorrow, they love them every year! I'm thinking we might wrap a few boxes of tea and bars of chocolate so that our toddler can have fun unwrapping them! Thank you all again for sharing all the Christmas fun!

I think Phillip is me as a Dutch Man! I love silly little animal ornaments and would love a white Christmas squirrel of my own. The joy of the season is in his eyes and in the joy he brings. Here's a tip that only took me 40 years of stringing lights to realize. To keep from getting dizzy and nearly passing out when going around and around and around the tree with the lights ... stand in one place and put them on more vertically. So with your three strands you could do 1/3 at a time by just spreading them out whilst staying in that 1/3 of the circumference of the tree. They're easier to take off that way too. Stunning tree.

I had a tree with woodland animals and huichol eggs that I bought over the years in and around Puerto Vallarta where I owned property. They had many days of processions though the streets to their cathedral. It was a wonderful celebration that went on for several weeks. My daughter has them at the house in Vermont where she has been in Quarantine since their NYC apt is short a home office and outdoor space for her toddlers. This year I spent 3 weeks over Thanksgiving there. I’m in NYC in my apartment and looking forward to next year with everything open here and everywhere. I hope everyone has a special day. Stephanie, thanks for the gift of your vlogs over the past year. You have brightened the lives of many with your humanity and can-do personality.

Thank you for letting me live vicariously through you all! The Netherlands is in lockdown and the only Christmas present we have in the house is 1 gift for our toddler, we didn't get the chance to get any thing for each other before lockdown started last week. We refuse to order online because the poor postal service is already over extended. Thankfully we did manage to get all our groceries ordered and delivered in time (we have ordered groceries more then 2 years, started when our baby was born). For our neighbors we are going to be making brownies and cookies tomorrow, they love them every year! I'm thinking we might wrap a few boxes of tea and bars of chocolate so that our toddler can have fun unwrapping them!

years ago I worked in visual design of a huge retail Co in Boston and had to decorate 30 trees a store .. I don’t know how we did that many !

I think Phillip is me as a Dutch Man! I love silly little animal ornaments and would love a white Christmas squirrel of my own. The joy of the season is in his eyes and in the joy he brings. I'm a little sad, as our Christmas here will be small and simple and these vlogs make me a bit melancholy. God bless all of you for creating a little magic in this time of covid.

Thank you Stephanie for the joy you have given us in 2020 but especially in December. It’s been a challenging month where I have been focusing on donating food instead of buying toys for children like I normally do but for 30 minutes a day, I sit back and enjoy life at Chateau de Lalande.
