For once he woulda gotten the chance to play the ODI no.4 role, and to bring him for Ali who in the end wasn't even used against the plethora of their lefties, shows some muddled thinking. Finally, why go in with a batter short during the batting innings. If it is to bring in an extra bowler, then why not keep a spinner as part of the bench as well, in case they read the pitch wrong. Sadly CSK is a middling team this year - Captaincy is weighing down Ruthuraj, when they have so much dependency on him at the top they are trying to alleviate that by allowing him to go 1 down and hoping that the openers can make a good start - but best laid plans not working as usual and their middle order is very weak. They don't have a bowling unit that will run through a side - they are a defensive unit, except Pathirana who on a good day can give you 2-4 wickets but he is not (yet?) a Bhumra - at best they will get to the play offs and then its any mans game, at this rate they seem out of their depth and not sure Dhoni can rescue them - unless they get their act together, has to start with their Captain.
