I also loved Mrs. Jefferson approach. When she told him the truth about his heritage he was shocked. She's right - what' does skin color have to do with responsibility.
How did John not know he was a mixed race? You can look at him and tell!! Glad Mrs Johnson stepped in and told him the truth... Skin color does not matter💞
How could he not know that he had brown in his history somewhere? I could understand if he had blond hair and blue eyes, but, his skin is only a few shades lighter than the renter’s. If a person’s family has been in the States more than a few generations, chances are they aren’t pure white. Even if he had been clearly white, there is no reason for discrimination based on a person’s skin color. It’s pretty easy to do a background check or credit check on a potential renter. I’m glad his neighbor schooled him. It doesn’t often happen in real life.
I loved how she did that she did the right thing most people wouldn’t did that it’s not about our skin color it’s about respecting each other god blessed y’all and blessed us never judge a book by it’s cover 🙌🏾🙌🏾
Denise Hamilton & Edna Johnson I agree with you both. God is Love. Love one another as God loves us. Don’t judge anyone especially because of the color of a person’s skin. God is the only judgement that matters to me
My niece, who is white, had two daughters by a black man. I call them Helen and Tom like in the Jeffersons except Helen is white and Tom is black. Tom is no longer in the picture now
This reminds me of a story my brother in law told me. He wanted to buy a watch out of a high end jewelry store. But he had just finished doing some yard work and wasn't dressed up. He went to the store and the clerk didn't want to serve him. So my brother in law asked to see the manager. When the manager came over, my brother showed the manager that he was going to pay for the watch in cash but now changed his mind. The clerk was fired and my brother got a discount on the watch
You shouldn't judge anybody for any reason because first of all we don't have the right to judge another person we are not God that is God's job to judge us not each other's
John: *is visibly biracial* Also John: I can't believe my grandfather was Black! 7:45 Ricky must've parked a LONG way's away if John was able to hear Mrs. Jefferson's whole story and STILL catch up to him. And again: for most racists, it takes way more than a single lecture to get them to stop being prejudiced.
I just love Mrs Jackson's take on this, always listen to your elders they know!! I'm Native American and this happens to us too trying to rent a home. It's a dirty shame that people stereo type us and the way they treat us 😢
I love how this lady sat down and explained his family history to him. I am surprised that guy did not pay close attention to his looks. Just because you have a light complexion does not make you milky white. Kudos to the neighbor lady and I am glad he took her advise and went after the tenant. Lesson learned. Just because a person is black does not make then dishonest. Great Video.
A little bit of history goes a long way and to think the rentee is just as black as the renter and he's discriminating against people 😱 thank God for the lifelong neighbor, she just reshaped that young man's entire future because mom messed him up unintentionally 💔
How can it be that this guy didn't know he was blended black/white? I knew the moment I saw him. And the other man didn't say a word about it! Good Video! 👍👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The property owner looked Latino and, with those "sleeves" could face the same type of discrimination that he's perpetrating. People might look at him and, figuring he's a part of Gang Life, would write him off. People should consider how THEY might be perceived in a similar situation. That MIGHT cause them to behave in a more *Humane* manner.
Grandfather was black and it probably was a black neighborhood back in the day. I have a mixed family and skin complection varies from very light to dark chocolate. And I have family members who look Latino. I kind of find it surprising that his mother tried to hide they were mixed but then again, I can understand trying to prevent your children and grandchildren from the pain of racism.
It was obvious from his skin tone he was mixed race. Blind and deaf, he never took a proper look in the mirror, and failed to recognise a voice he'd just spoken too. Prejudism does such harm to both parties. Surprised he didn't do a 'karen' once he knew the truth.
I don’t judge people by the color of their skin, but on the clearness of their windows and I see that someone didn’t bother washing them…😅 (Neither do I and mine look like those atm, so we are in the same category 😉)
The color of your skin doesn’t mean anything, it’s your personal character that matters. People like you? OMG, talk about typical stereotyping. I’m Native American and I went to buy a car once and the salesman tried to show me less expensive cars because he said I couldn’t afford the car I wanted, I left and went back two days later in my brand new Toyota Solara convertible, the salesman’s mouth dropped. All those years of being racist against his own people, parents need to tell their kids who and what nationalities they are
He can't even lie good first he told him on the phone that he is there take 6our time, (knowing he was coming to rent) and then he told him he rented it out a couple of days ago. Lol.
We are all God’s children. Regardless of skin color. As Dr King said we should be judged not by the color of our skin but by the content of our character .
I am Iranian and live in Norway. So, I am a foreigner myself. When I built our house, I decided to build a flat to rent. I have had people from Norway, and other places like Chile, S. Korea etc. I have no biases against any person, and have worked against Racism and ignorance, ever since I resided here. Once an African woman from Liberia asked to rent, and she got it, as she was the first person to show interest. Two years with her in my flat is enough for me to think twice if another black person asks to rent the flat. After her, a Polish gentleman has rented the flat, and in 5 years, there has not been any problem with him.
I love Mrs. Jefferson's approach.
What a great way to get people's attitudes right.
She is the real MVP of this story.

Shame on the mom she should have taught her son better and told him the truth about his heritage.

Countless people have unrecognized self-hatred. The construct on a number of levels teach it.
Specially those with Arab ancestry. They just play it off and say they have French ancestry.

There should be penalties for racial profiling.
Indeed, and a select few will ever call themselves by color or derogatory terms, especially the Malaysian Indians!!! Time for mentality change!!!
This is a very good lesson that she’s telling him
I love how the lady had unconditional acceptance and love for her neighbour, even after he was so unnaceptably racist.
