Bio: Wajahat S. Khan is an Emmy-nominated journalist and author reporting on Indo-Pacific security and focusing on the Af-Pak conflict. An Adjunct Professor at New York University’s Center of Global Affairs and non-resident Senior Fellow at Washington’s Atlantic Council, Khan is a graduate of the Columbia University School of Journalism and the University of Michigan, as well as Pakistan’s only Shorenstein Fellow for Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He has reported from 16 countries covering conflict, diplomacy, and media for digital, cable and network news. During the final years of U.S. military operations in Afghanistan, Khan was bureau chief in Kabul and Islamabad for NBC News, and embedded with over a hundred NATO, Afghan, Indian and Pakistani military and paramilitary units as he covered South Asia for leading US, British, Indian, Japanese and Pakistani networks and publications since the beginning of the 2001 U.S. invasion of Afghanistan. Recently, he served as the Digital Editor at Nikkei Asia, where he launched Nikkei’s first podcast series, and edited a popular weekend newsletter at the Eurasia Group. He frequently dabbles in cricket, and is the author of the 2019 Amazon / Harper Collins non-fiction bestseller, “Game Changer: Being Shahid Afridi.” He lives between New York City, London and Karachi.

Thanks for this brilliant interview. Shahzad is a great storyteller. There was so much misinformation about him during IK’s tenure. We used to consider him an evil of some sort. I am glad that he started appearing on screen and cleared up the misconceptions related to him.
A little correction, Wajahat; you introduced Shahzad by saying he’s not in the limelight; his RUclips channel is doing quite well. I subscribed when there were less than 2k followers; he’s now at 40k. His blogs are really informative, and I am super happy to see his RUclips channel’s positive progress. We need more sane voices like his.

We will take our pakistan back. Bravo. I am not writer neither journalist but these are exact words i used 2 years ago when i first jotted down my thiughts and shared with ither people. I still believe we will get our country back; it is just matter of time.
Every messenger fought against all kinds of shackles and liberated his nation from slavery of all kinds
Imagine how horrible it sounds like when you hear “I couldn’t imagine that I won’t be able to go back Pakistan”. Had anyone thought that Pakistan will come to this level where a number of intellectuals and patriots are in abroad and scared to go back to Pakistan having life threats. Pakistan’s military establishment has made this country a warzone and god knows for how long it’ll continue to be like this. Feels a nightmare if Asim Munir and Faez Isa gets extension.
