    What you are saying at 1:53 is wrong unfortunately. The long-range rocket mode is based only on barometric altitude over the target and pitch angle (meaning it approximates the target slant range considering a right-angle triangle with your pitch angle and your barometric altitude as the small component).
    Changing mode to ANF will put you in radar ranging mode and now you don’t even have to set the target QNF, simply point and shoot. The slant range is calculated from radar ranging (if within radar ranging parameters).

    Inserting 221000 into TAKT-mode and choosing IMPULSE will make your rockets more accurate over distance!

      Yeah, that tells the computer to assume the target is stationary, right? That’s the one he skipped over in the other video because he didn’t know what it meant.

    Cap, need to pause the camera on the dials and settings you have selected so we can see the positions and the names associated with the settings. You default to panning off the instruments the moment you name and show them.

    Hey I'm reading Chuck's guides and the viggen does have the ability to do laser ranging so you don't need to mess with QFE. I don't think I can explain how to turn it on correctly, so you guy will have to check chuck's guide p219.

    First ! :-)
    You used the NAV mode. In this mode do you have to have an waypoint programmed right? And if it was an target of oportunity? How to do that?

    • @grimreapers
      @grimreapers  5 лет назад +3

      Ignore the waypoint. Everything works perfect with no ewaypoint

      @@grimreapers Great vid Cap. One small thing to add. NAV mode will calculate the impact point based on barometrics. ANF mode will use the radar to calculate the impact point and is very useful if you run into a target of opportunity and don't have time to set up QFE or don't know the value at your target area.

      Thanks for the vid Cap, and tyvm @@Nails077, I wasn't aware that you could use radar impact calculation. I haven't flown the Viggen for a long time due to HOTAS issues. The last time I studied this, I believe you had to calculate QFE (with no radar option). Just out of curiosity, which is the most accurate? I would have thought the ANF mode?

    • @Nails077
      @Nails077 5 лет назад +2

      @@TheDroppy68 Both modes are very accurate but ANF is probably less prone to error simply because there is less for the pilot to mess up. If you are paranoid about sending out radar giving your position away and telegraphing your attack then you use NAV I guess? Or if you have a radar malfunction.

    • @AdurianJ
      @AdurianJ 5 лет назад

      @@Nails077 There is no difference between NAV and ANF once you "unsafe" both modes uses radar ranging and needs QFE.

    No another grim reapers video with inaccurate informartion. You dont need to set qfe. Plz remove video and re do!

      yes you are supposed to get qfe from kneeboard of your target waypoint
