Look I have torn down many greasy engines Spay Nine was best to remove grease from hands little brush for nails. It hard on your hand so use good hand cream after. That being said not what Spray Nine was made for. Kresto classic 87045 Extra Heavy-Duty is best soap for greasy hands 2000 ml for about 27 bucks.

Gotta love the ls engine just a few sockets and take it apart. 10mm-15mm and a 18mm good to go

Be careful with remounting things… some of those bolts are “torque to yield” which means they are a one time use thing. That’s typical with ALL aluminum engines. Your head bolts are one time use, intakes and exhaust bolts are likely the same.
They are all cheap to replace too with new bolts on amazon or ebay
@@Mechanicalasshole very bad idea to replace with Amazon or EBay items. Definitely want a reputable parts store or items picked up straight from the dealership. Junkyards and “online bargain” entities simply are not going to cut it as those will easily scam. Raquel’s SAFEST route for an engine rebuild will be either a dealership or someone like Autozone, Oreilly’s, Parts Plus, etc. Amazon and EBay are too iffy at best.
yep most go back with ARP bolts which are reusable and not TTY

@@ronniehooperjr1 ebay and amazon do have garbage you would never want to use, but they also do have quality parts as well - and comparing same part to same part, they are often far less expensive than local parts stores or summit/jegs.

Raquel. There is something you absolutely need for cleaning up parts. Honing technologies or whatever it's called. Look it up they make fantastic units for blasting parts (not sand) they are really great. Just saying.

Imagine exhaust manifold bolts coming out that easy...
At a minimum for reinstall get some reading material, look at some trusted sources, or get some help. That is the part that if you fail, you will know, and it will be costly. Take the build slow and ensure you get everything, a simple miss will ruin the engine (don't be afraid of that). Also, ensure you build the internals for what you want plus a little more for safety, don't go for a 600hp build if you think you will later want 800, if so you will pay WAY more. Pay for higher quality if you even have a thought of going for more power than your plan.

ok the way the engine comes apart is listed in a manual ( old or newer engine) when computers were new in 1983 the manual was a messed up thing i got junk parts and made one work for food by a cook here make bag heat meals put on bread it was like 20 dollars for food & same for her cooking it, i swap computer for meals i worked 10 to 12 hours except weekend i got computer & did swamp (what a pile of crap) next week i went to work IBM computer & a mr gates great ( the talking heads in Us airforce had no idea what a computer was or could do if it was changed I closed door to room Mr gates who are you and this thing dose work but it needs changed in way its accessed & used these people have zero idea how or what to use this with the way it data and filing systems, oh great about week later i deathly sick a unknown blood illness, great about 25 years later my uncles name and number came up in Va medical records the files were saved on his name and last 4 ok he had and lived threw blood cancer i had it & why was known already back in 1945 after ww2 end a N test was done uncle was there & later he got real sick (get you stuff in order its 6 ft under time but we got a new pill from rat posing named blood thinner he lived threw a 100% death rate cancer named blood cancer) this how pre cooked food in a bag & God threw Jesus help saved me from a nasty death! lord knows the devil worked over time! ps those guys say the computer to much well some times it the simple make sure plugs are not broke or worn out! ask question or get to people who know Gregg ps that thing a LS type engine lifters are iffy & other then that the ports are bigger & right for torque and power! i worked on ford & dodge my first car was a chevy impala 1973, well its chevy truck & dodge suv rides like a lumber wagon the ride crap on old guy speed!
