For those of us with hot sun issues this hula hoop idea can also be used to hold up shade cloth to keep the sun from burning your plants.
For people that have an issue with wind like I do, you could take one of the hula hoops and cut it into 3-4 inch sections then slice long ways. You can then use that to clamp the plastic on top to each hoop. Would hold better than the tape. Of course you can buy the special made clamps but we are aiming for cheap here.
Hi Cheryl, I definitely live in a really windy area. I'm near the top of a hill in the country in Wisconsin, way out in the country on farmland. Thank you for the idea. We moved out here just before the lovely and fun inflatable outdoor Christmas decorations became a thing. I would hate to traumatize children should they see a giant Santa go flying by! We routinely get 30-50 mph winds in the winter. I had to put up a snow fence along our driveway to help prevent the driveway from blowing shut.
My husband and I put up a hoop house last fall/winter, and used the giant binder clips to clip everything together, stuck 1 inch PVC down inside a slightly bigger pipe hammered into the dirt. And it got ripped entirely off several times. I anchored the sides with landscaping pins and bricks all the way around. I lost everything I planted except the carrots! Wind I wicked here! We had an extremely heavy rain storm today with incredible wind. I've never seen it like this EVER. It uprooted one of my small greenhouses and ripped the plastic, sending the whole thing into our woods. I'm done with weather weapons.
Brilliant! Thank you!
Love this idea but I think this horrid wind would blow it all away. We are considering other more permanent options.
i love the hula hoop idea. another idea is to use in place of the electric tape is the banana hair clips that they have in the dollar section too. my girls don't use them anymore and they fit perfectly on the roundness of the hoop. keep growing.
BRILLIANT !!! WOW !!! YOUR AMAZING JINNE , THANK YOU
Holy cow I never thought of using hula hoops as a frame for low tunnels! Brilliant! Thanks for sharing...
Great idea! I will get some of the hoops and then use them with the cloth to keep the moths out of my cabbage!
Yes, last year was horrible for them!
I'm getting some tulle for this year for sure. Great idea with the hula hoops!
I will be using this idea with tulle netting to keep low growing crops safe from the bugs this spring.
Great idea. The sun gets hot in Fort Myers, Florida! Thank you.
Another use for a hula hoop is to clip a shower curtain on the hoop with the clear round plastic clips(from Dollar Tree) to make an outdoor shower or outhouse! Hang the hula hoop from a tree!
I used hula hoops over my raised bed of spinach and leaf lettuce last year. Works great!!! 👍
It was 85 degrees yesterday and 80 degrees today where I live! I am already picking green beans from my garden. I will file this info away for next year . Thanks Jinne.
We hit 80 yesterday & today! 🥵

Works great in the fall as well to extend the growing season .
What a great idea!! Why didn't I think of that?! Glad you did! Thank you 😊
Wow that's a fabulous idea! Thanks for sharing I'm definitely doing this.
I have struggled so hard to protect my plants (upstate NY). I am truly amazed how easy the hula hoop tunnel was. Thank You!
Super easy, we're in Maine and the late & early frosts are always a stuggle.
Another EXCELLENT and frugal idea, Jinne!! Thank you soooo much. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I’ll take all of the survival tips you want to teach! Thank you.
Boy, I wish could plant now. We've been having buckets of rain since before Easter. I have potatoes
and onions just waiting to be planted.
I've been wanting to diy a little greenhouse for my "miniature guerilla container garden" on my front deck. What HOA, LMAO! 🤣 Sacramento, California USA 🇺🇸
Jinnie, thank you for putting together awesome videos consistently. I really appreciate it!
Jinne, thanks for sharing this great idea! This is so easy and would work so good since our temperatures go up and down.

You cracked me up with your intro with those hula hoops
Binder clips to hold the plastic to the hoops .. easier, I'm thinking .. but your mini greenhouse idea is great 👍
Great idea, thanks
That is a great idea we have the bigger raised beds so that is definitely something I will try
Got my hoop house up over my raised beds. My 7 tomato plants and 1 green pepper I grew early are doing good. Great video
Thnx for sharing ❤
I watched every video, and I was really hoping you would do some garden videos. I got some seeds started on the 8th. Slicing tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, okra, lettuce, and some catnip for the kitties. Got a few flower pots going also. I'm looking forward to more garden videos

I get my seeds from the DT too! So far all are doing pretty good all across the garden!
I grow lots of spinach, swiss chard, and kale.....dehydrate it and pulse it in the food processor then add to all sorts of dishes like spaghetti, soups, meatloaf and such to add extra greens to the family's diet!
