    THE BEST! Thanks!!! When did this session happen, which month? Also, just curious if you know the rules around wingers at Ho'okipa? 🔥🔥🔥

      Thank you! This session was on January 6, 2023. After this windy day we only had three more sailable days until the beginning of February. I don't think there are any official rules for wingers at Ho'okipa but they seem to be lumped in with the kite surfers which have to leave once there are 10 or more windsurfers or surfers.

    Great content dude 🙌 I notice when you waterstart it often looks like you put your front foot on the board first?
    Does this work better when water starting on small boards?

    • @Dough29
      @Dough29 Год назад

      It's pretty unconventional but hey, if it works for you, use it. I would say that if you're going to learn one way, back foot first is always more effective. On smaller boards the tail sinks easier so you can pull it under your bum with the back foot. Difficult to do this with the front foot.

      I don’t honestly think about what I am doing when water starting. I do often use my front foot to position the board perpendicular to the on coming waves to punch through them. But as far as the water start itself it really depends on the situation at hand and what comes naturally in the moment.

    Excuse my ignorance, but what kind of turn was that at 5:25 ? It looks real quick and smooth and not like an ordinary gybe :)

    • @koav
      @koav  11 месяцев назад

      Hi @tilenmoder, I was doing a quick snap jibe to catch the wave. The reason it looks smoother than most jibes is that I am using the energy from oncoming wave to complete the turn.

      @@koav Thank you for explanation, it makes sense now :) I managed my first ever qybe 2 weeks ago and it took me 15 long seconds to complete the turn, so you can understand my confusion and amazment

    It's a pyramid quad? How many knots with 5 mts and 89 lts? Thanks

    • @koav
      @koav  Год назад

      It's a custom Quad with the Pyramid stickers. I think it was blowing between 15 and 20 knots. It got a little windier at the end of this session.

    Why are you saying "classic" in a disapproving tone to the other sailor on starboard at 8.15? Is there some etiquette I'm not aware of?

    • @koav
      @koav  Год назад +5

      So this is one of my pet peeve situations. The sailor coming at me (Ferdi) has the right of way but in order for him to pass in front of me I had to stomp of the back of the board and come to a complete stop which is annoying as I am positioning for the set rolling through. I end up missing the second wave in the set because I had no forward momentum. Ferdi grabs the third wave behind me which is a great move in competition. Later in the session there are a couple times when I am heading out and Braw (All yellow Goya sail) is lining up a set behind him. In both those situations I opt to go behind him instead of cutting in front and messing up his effort to catch the on coming set.

      @@koav Thanks for the explanation, that makes sense to give someone a better chance to catch the wave regardless of technical right of way.
