When I was a child, I went to the forest to pick berries to sell them, and collecting 10 kilos manually took me all day, if I had such a harvester I would be a berry rich man :)

Mike, I am extremely interested in, and fascinated by the mechanical Blueberry harvester in your video. Is this something that you have created yourself, or purchased as a production item ? If a production item, can you please tell the name of the machine ? If something you have built yourself, would you be willing to share some of your design process with me please ?
The tractor is made by Grasshopper Company in Moundridge Kansas, the model we use for harvesting wild blueberries is the 725DT, it is one of Grasshoppers front mount models. The harvester head is made in Quebec by D.H.Enterprise. Pictou county Berry Ltd is the dealer for both, our dealer territory is Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland part of New Brunswick and Maine. Besides being a dealer we also have our own wild blueberry properties and do contract harvesting for Bragg Lumber.... owners of Oxford Frozen Foods. We also sell harvester heads for other brands of tractors, Kubota John Deere etc. We are in the middle of our harvest now and will be adding more videos soon. Thankyou for your interest, if you have any other questions feel free to email me at: mike@pictoucountyberryltd.com
One good scoop appears to yield at least a couple hundred grams... scratch it, half a kilo of berries. In other words, in my country, this machine would allow me to make several hundred dollars/euros per hour, so I am pretty sure this machine can be called a money harvester... lol
@@jarjarthestarSo you're saying you harvested 600k lbs from 6 acres? That means you get 100k lbs from one acre, which means ~11kg per square meter. Quite sure your measures ain't correct.

Do you manually sort them out later or is it also atomized?
Personally I think the machine is rather neat, does anyone know if it can harvest anything else or is it specifically for blueberrys'.
Would likely work for lingonberries too.

@@christopherlovelock9104 it looks like a cranberry but the height of its plant can as tall as that blueberry that they are harvesting
Doesn’t it harm the plants when they drive it over them?
Don't know but wild blueberry bushes are often burned every other year to keep them healthy so I doubt the machine hurts them

Machine is impressive, sure, but how do you get that yield? Any special nutrients or soil preparation?
Exactly what I wonder. That's a lot of berries per square area
Just an occasional burn (usually every second year) keeps the yield up.

doesn't driving over the plants destroy them?
No, they are going to be mowed off anyways about 2 months later to start the cycle again.
How much profit per pound ballpark?

Wow Wow I liked to see that's

Hello sir. May I ask where I can purchase this machine ?
What is this machine brand called and this is in nova Scotia Canada yes?
how much and where can I get a quote? What minimum acreage would one need to make this worth it?
That machine would frustrate the hell out of me!
Hmm wauw nyam nyam👍👍🤤🤤🇲🇨✋
Satisfying to watch but I'm bothered by the blueberries that seemed to be wasted. Such an interesting job!
I know seems like lots of waste...he should go straight...I just picked wild blueberry today got 10kls by hands only.
It’s not waste it’s good for the soil and beneficial bacteria in the land
Wasted how? Any blueberries that don’t make it to the basket will be eaten by animals or returned to the soil, seeds for more plants too.
Wow that’s really nice:)
This is so soothing
Good
Hi, Can you send me the link to this machine?

Yes this past season from August 21 to September 21 with 3 machines working two 11hr shifts a day we harvested 600,000 pounds.

The plants will be fine, they're use to being covered in ten feet of snow most of the year. At least were I'm from.
The fields are usually burned after it promotes growth
