    It is time to summarize what this video means. When I say "Do Not Have a Hair Transplant" I'm saying to not have the surgery unless you've thought about, and carefully considered, the potential downsides. Every clinic has failures. Every clinic has unhappy patients, some to the point that they are psychologically and emotionally scarred. If you haven't thought about this potential outcomes, of poor growth, bad scarring or an overall unnatural appearance, don't get a hair transplant until you REALLY REALLY think it through. This is an elective procedure, and too often, people wind up electing to get screwed up.

      When you say, "Do Not Have a Hair Transplant" you are saying "Please click my video." You start off with a controversial-statement to snag people's attention. If the video was titled, "The Pros and Cons of Hair Transplants" that would be a better description of the content of the video and be more honest, but you wouldn't get as many clicks now would it? However THAT wouldn't work because the underlying tone of this is that in YOUR opinion people should not have them at ALL and you cherry-pick the points that fit your agenda and put greater emphasis on them than being unbiased.
      Even in your description you have a sentence saying "Help me reach 10,000 SUBSCRIBERS!!!" So this was a click-bait video which I clicked on purposefully to say what I just said.
      Sorry I had to air you out, but deception irritates me. You bring up some valid points and useful information to people who aren't educated about the process of hair transplants, but the same purpose can be served without the short-cuts and deception. Also, your arrogant and condescending responses in the comment section further expose the true purpose of your video. When you have to resort to red-herrings, ad-hominems, and semantics to prove your point.........you don't have a point.
      Surgery PERIOD is a risk. Investing money is a risk. Starting a new job is a risk. Starting a new business is a risk. Dating is a risk. Having children is a risk. Driving is a risk. Dancing is a risk. Sports are a risk. Taking medicine is a risk. NOT taking medicine is a risk.
      LIFE is about risk. Neither yours nor my opinion have any bearing on what anyone else chooses to risk. I hate to break this to you, but you don't know everything and you don't know what other people know so as much as you THINK you know about this subject, you have no idea how much anyone else knows or if what you THINK you know is all there _is_ to know. Please don't hide behind this non-existent wall of good will when this is just a cash-grab for you. If you really care about people's health and well-being, lose the attitude. Check your arrogant-banter at the door. Equally give example of successful hair transplants as you do the ones that were unsuccessful. That'll get you subs a lot faster.

      @hairtransplantchannel  8 лет назад +5

      That goes without saying but even doctors that are great, considered to be "the best" by some people, have patients that regret having surgery with them. That's a fact and is why I preach that surgery is the last resort and that people should understand that it isn't all church bells and rose petals just because they think they've found the right doctor.

      @am3818 8 лет назад +1

      Joe Tillman thanks for the advice, I'll definitely take all of this into consideration.

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  8 лет назад +1

      My point isn't theoretical. It's a fact. No matter how many cases of excellent results you might see from a clinic there are cases you don't see where the patient is pissed off or mentally exhausted, broken, etc. from a bad result. It happened to me twenty years ago when I WAS that 20 something year old kid and it's happening today, like to the multiple people I'm talking to now that had their f*cked up procedures in the past year.
      I'm preaching about it because no one else is. Look at some of the comments under this video, people are thanking me and others are asking why I didn't make this video earlier. The thing is, if someone watches this video, gets it and thinks about it but still decides surgery is a risk worth taking WITHOUT dismissing what I'm saying then they may wind up being better prepared for surgery regardless. At the very least they won't be in a position of feeling betrayed because no one told them the potential of failure exists.

      Harry Possy That's cool. I didn't go into my own case in this video because I covered my own history in a previous upload. My entire photo history is on my website www.hairtransplantmentor.com. After fifteen years I'm still the most documented patient online.
      The issue of specific issues is material for another video. I have to keep the videos short enough to get my points across for the subject I'm addressing. If I were to address specifics in this video it would have been far too long.
      I'm just getting started so subscribe and look for updates. There are many more classes coming.

    I had hair transplants. For one thing, hairs also drop out due to poor blood circulation. So when you have hair transplants, these new hairs demand lots of blood circulation, and because of this, the old hairs that were no longer growing now have a good blood circulation in their area as well. So they now grow back. So you now have new hairs in combination with many of the old hairs, all happily growing together. So your new look seems fantastic. But, over the years the old ones do stop growing once again. This is a killer when you see this happen. After many years, a total of about 85 to 90% of my transplants fell out as well. This sucked.
    I complained about this to those who did the transplants. They said no problem and that they could fix the problem. Just give us another $10,000, and we will fix it.

    • @new-knowledge8040
      @new-knowledge8040 7 лет назад +1

      Oh, and it gets worse. I tried to do my own tests to see if I could find topical treatment that would help hair growth. I tried all sorts of stuff, but nothing worked. But one day I thought of something new but also thought that it was risky so I applied it only to the bald spot at the back of my head. I left it on over night with a plastic bag over my head to prevent drying. Many months later, after I had totally forgotten what it was that I had used, hairs began to grow. It looked weird because I now had a circular bald patch with hair growing just in the middle where I had applied my "special stuff". These hairs remained active for about 3 years.
      Thus just one application grew hairs for 3 years.
      But to this day, I can not recall what it was that I had used.
      Damn it, I could have become a millionaire with hair if I could have just recalled what it was that I had used.

    • @new-knowledge8040
      @new-knowledge8040 7 лет назад +1

      To make things worse, the hairs that I had left, started to turn grey. Hair dyes that I used caused bad skin reactions that took a complete year to disappear. So I tried something different. I dyed my hair using tea. Tea can cause stains in a cup, and stains on your teeth, and so It worked, but it only dyed the hair that had some color left. Women tend to use this technique to change their hair color.

    I'm 33 and have a NW3 hairline with general thinning all over the crown. The hairline bothers me more as the thinning is not apparent unless my hair is short, wet or oily. I'm still trying to figure out whether I want to get a hair transplant. I'm most afraid of the scarring, as it "locks" me into having my hair grown out. What if I get older and want a short buzzcut or shaved head? Or even worse, what if I continue to lose more hair and look terrible with it both grown out AND shaved? Do I just keep getting more and more transplants? I don't know...

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  6 лет назад

      The first step is prevention. Look into medications and treatment to arrest the loss as much as you can. Surgery is the last resort. If you do have surgery, you have to choose between FUT and FUE, which you can learn about specifically in the glossary on my website. www.hairtransplantmentor.com/hair-transplant-glossary/

    • @hairtransplantchannel

      Hi Rob. You're referring to SMP or "scalp micropigmentation". This can be a great way to help camouflage scar tissue but it doesn't make it disappear from view. You also have to do a LOT of research about SMP before pulling the trigger because it's the wild west for that industry in it's current state.

    What if I managed to get a call donated to me by a corpse or recently deceseased??
    You see my hair was really thick full of volume, then I decided one day that o wanted to be blonde, I know it's a process now., but at that time I didn't and got my hair bleached THREE TIMES in one day.
    My roots are so small, I used to have deep thick roots and now they look like a white needle point as opposed to the giant deep root of hair coated in scalp skin that would come out when I would pull a hair out...
    Hair is important to me I'm only 22 and I feel like I'm thinning out.

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  8 лет назад +1

      塞尔吉奥 Feeling like your hair is thinning and it actually thinning are two different things. If you went through this bleaching process recently then just give it some time to recover. If you are still worried then you should visit a dermatologist to have your hair examined for miniaturization.
      To answer your first question, no, hair from a corpse or a relative won't work. The hair would be rejected unless the hair came from an identical twin.

    Now theres something called the HASCI method. This is a unique form of hair transplantation that uses existing stem cells in the hair follicles. This method does not result in hair loss or scarring, is painless, and preserves the donor area. As the hair follicles are not removed entirely, hair multiplication can be achieved.
    Removing only a small portion of the hair follicle and the hair stem cells and leaving the rest intact. This can stimulate 1) new hair growth in the receptor area and 2)
    re-growth in the donor area.
    While the degree of multiplication differs per person, more traditional hair transplantation techniques do not lead to regrowth in the donor area and not all hair is suitable for transplantation, which almost always results in hair loss. The HASCI method is quick, painless, and produces exceptional results for men and women of all ages. This explains why this method, originally introduces as Hair Stem Cell Transplantation, is patented and unique.

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  8 лет назад

      HASCI is the use of a .5mm punch to partially transect follicular units in order to harvest single hairs. That way they can show a donor extraction immediately post-surgery then show the same extraction point a year later with a hair growing out of it. It was there to begin with as only part of the follicle was extracted. This has been going on for years where doctors have reported regrowth in the donor area even when they weren't trying.
      It is unreliable and takes more procedures to get an appearance of density. That is why the results all look so thin and wispy. They are only made up of single hair grafts.

    • @marcusnl66
      @marcusnl66 8 лет назад

      Joe Tillman I investigated this method and realized that one session is not sufficient to reach a maximum result. Male pattern baldness continues to happen, meaning that you need touch ups every now and then. I've seen men with an excellent result at first but then after a few years the hair that wasn't treated falls out. In the end you're looking at a head with little patches of hair, which then needs be be treated again. It sounds like an ongoing money scam

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  8 лет назад

      With HASCI, you need more work immediately after the first procedure! I'm kidding but it really is a thin result every time I've seen it.
      Ongoing hair loss is a reality and surgery only replaces what has been lost. The rest of the hair will continue to fall out unless medication is used. If one reacts well to medication then it can reduce the number of surgeries needed and the medication can maintain the overall result.

    I am really thinking of getting an HT. FUE I feel I would be more comfortable with the scarring if the punch is smallest possible because I do scar easily. However I have read that they also take hairs from outside the healthy donor area which could affect long term results. If this is the case I would rather do FUT and maybe use Micro pigmentation on the scar, what do you suggest?

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  7 лет назад +1

      The smallest punch isn't necessarily always the best punch. Some places will use a .6 to a .7 all day long but this means that the grafts have a higher probability of being compromised in some way. I think a .75 to .9 is ideal. Once you get above .9 you're in different territory as the difference between .9 and 1.0 is quite substantial. 1.0mm isn't a deal breaker for me in many cases either but if you scar easily then it may be something to avoid. Regardless of the punch sizes used, find a clinic that has a consistent track record of excellence.

    the crown part of my head is balding not real bad but noticeable is that part of the head the easiest to correct I know this also requires artistry probably more so than anything but it would seem to me that area doesn't require as much your thoughts please.

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Mike. Great question. It depends on how much loss you have. If the crown is completely bald it can be very difficult to deal with as it not only requires artistry it also requires skill as well as a LOT more grafts that may realize. The grafts have to be placed at a very shallow angle so that they are flatter against the scalp. If not then they stick out too much and are difficult to style. Also, the artistry comes in when knowing how to rebuild a proper crown whorl pattern and I've noticed many doctors will not do this but rather will place into the crown as if it's an extension of the mid-scalp, which is too restrictive.
      If you have mild loss it would really be a good idea to ask yourself if you feel surgery is worthwhile because concealers may do a better job for you, or you can try various medical and non-medical options such as tricopigmentation, laser, PRP with ACell, etc.

    i had a hair transplant 3 weeks ago. fut by dr bisanga. everything went ok apart from im still numb on top. how long does that usually last? and how long till i see initial growth? as 60% has falled out since which i hear is expected? my other question is, that there is no hair loss on either side of my family. so how come its happened to me? i didnt start to lose any hair until 28yrs olds but even then it took till 36 to really see it. i never expected hair loss especially seeing as i had such thick hair before! i used to have to get the hair dressers to chop into it to thin it out just so i was able to style it, as it was so thick! i wonder where it all went wrong. ive questioned myself if it was when i used to dye it blonde that did it,or if its the candida that ive had a constant struggle with, which i was confirmed at 36 yrs old. im now 40 by the way. i was also diagnosed with low testosterone at 36. so i thought i'd have less chance of loosing hair but then looking into it i wonder if more was converting to dht because of it? like i'd messed up my bodies natural working order and thats what kicked started the hairloss? if anyone can answer any of this it would be much appreciated.

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  8 лет назад

      Hi Dean. Congratulations on your procedure. The hard part is the waiting so strap in tight! The numbness in the back will be prevalent for another few weeks but then you'll notice it slightly improving but it will also be quite a while before it disappears completely. Full recovery is about nine months because your nerve endings have to have time to grow and reconnect. They are being separated by the scar line so they have to get through that as well. The crown will feel kind of odd and tingly to the touch as well as this process continues but that too will go away.
      You may see some minor growth by month two but the burst of growth usually begins between month three and month five with continuous incremental improvements to about ten to twelve months.
      You can expect more of the hairs to shed beyond 60% as usually it is closer to 90% but this too is normal. The hairs are simply going into the telogen phase. You can learn more about this here...
      www.hairtransplantmentor.com/telogen-phase/
      I'm not very familiar with Candida but if you're having outbreaks perhaps it could be causing some hair loss issues but if Dr. B thought that your loss was due to anything aside from male pattern hair loss and DHT he most likely would not have performed a procedure for you. Someone in your family has the gene and it simply decided to wait till you were born for it to finally come out and express itself. I would suggest however that you evaluate your nutrition intake and maybe make some adjustments. Avoid processed sugars, read your labels and cut back on things that have sugar added that you may not realize even have sugar. Avoid processed foods, eat organic meat and green vegetables, drink lots of water and keep alcohol intake to a minimum. Avoid carbs, too, and only eat them every few days at most.
      I hope this helps.

    Its statistics that are important. Like, is it 1 in a hundred that has a bad result, or is it one in two. That would be the question that is most important.

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  8 лет назад +1

      This is a question that is one of the hardest to answer. We have to define what a "bad result" is. I've seen people posting their results on forums that are happy but others would say that it looks bad, and vice versa, where unhappy patients have comments from others that the result looks good, even great.
      I think it makes sense to narrow it down to the patients that are unhappy and others would logically agree there was good reason to be unhappy. This could be for a LONG list of reasons but I think that a broad general assumption based on what I know is that UP to 40% of all patients, across the board (if true averages could be calculated), are not 100% happy with their result or, more specifically, are "marginally" happy. Happy enough, anyway, to not really complain and will generally recognize and acknowledge an improvement. I'd wager that up to 10% are downright pissed off or emotionally traumatized (it usually goes one way or the other). This is taking into account the better clinics and averaging them in with the not so good clinics. There is also a degree of patient education and expectations to consider that really factors into the equation so it really becomes difficult to say for sure what the statistics could be as so many factors would have to be considered.

    I LITERALLY can’t decide on fue fut how the hell am I supposed to know if I’ll do ok???? I’m also NOT OK with being bald so all I’m doing is constant non stop research and pushing it off and meanwhile the months are just passing by lol I think my main issue is that I can’t find a good surgeon in my area and any of the good surgeons for fut/fue I’d have to fly and I’m a NW5 and can’t see myself flying back after such a big surgery. Does anyone know of any good surgeons in New Jersey? (not New York) NY the good surgeons are all booked until like next year...?

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  2 года назад

      Your first issue is the one that everyone asks. Will it work? And that is why I always say that surgery is the last resort, because it might not work. It's a gamble, regardless of where you go. In New Jersey, I know of no one worth considering. You'll have to go to NY if you want to stay close.

    Probably the best bet is a hair system.. I'm rocking one at the moment but going back to my normal hair soon to take a break, I want to try and regrow my hair as it wasn't as bad as I was making it out to be.. a bit of a recede and thinning at the crown, I am going to try and regrow the crown area.. Also Caboki is a good option for thinning hair.. But I may go back to a system in the future.

    hi Mr. Tillman, an admirer of your efforts & work to edify the common people about how to navigate the treacherous waters of hair loss treatment.
    I also regularly tune in to your & Mr. kobren's great show" the bald truth"
    I am a young professional ( 26,to be precise)who has been fighting hair loss since college. over the last 6 years I have progressed to becoming a Norwood 4 probably with just a little bit of hair left in a pathetic triangle in the front hairline and all of middle and back of head has gone through extreme miniaturization. I have used generic rogain & finpecia by cipla as I stay in india,both on & off extremely irregularly over these 6 years, they haven't seem to have done much & every few months I gave up on them & out of sheer desperation started back again.
    I have just started my 2nd job, just started my career,dont have family money, a hair transplant even in India is not an option for me, It does feel like an interminable nightmare with no end in sight.
    sorry for this long post but I haven't shared this stuff ever so it came pouring out.
    my questions are 1. do I really need to use minox as it is messy & after a long day at work I don't have any energy left to wash the morning application off and dry the scalp & apply it again,wait for it to dry off & then go to sleep.it is also expensive.can I do without it?
    2.I have used finpecia on/off for the past 5 years with no side effects. this year I have made a resolution to stick to this as it is relatively cheaper than minox and a lot less hassle. do I have any chance with an only fin based routine? in your long years of experience at industry have you seen anything of this sort? I am really banking a lot upon fin.
    I do have some doubts about the efficiency of ciplas finpecia.
    if need be, I would even go for the Merck one.
    please share your valuable thoughts.
    keep up the great work.
    regards,
    Ernev

    what are your thoughts on the FUE Artas with the newer smaller pronged needles?

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  7 лет назад

      If it is the one I think it is, it's fine, but it still isn't any better than any other punch on the market. It still only scores the graft and nothing else. I saw this in action as a prototype and the extraction sites were fine. Keep in mind, ARTAS is reducing the size of their punches to make it more in line with what you'll see from a good manual punch clinic, so they're playing catch up. However, I think they're in the same realm now so it all comes down to the clinic that's using the ARTAS. If they have the experience already from years of non-ARTAS hair transplant work and they have documented excellence then they should be pretty good with the ARTAS as well because they apply their personal experience to how the machine should perform for the patient. If it's a new clinic, or someone that didn't really have a good library of results BEFORE they got the ARTAS then the robot won't make them any better than they were before.

    • @Southpaw11
      @Southpaw11 7 лет назад

      I was looking at Dr Ken Anderson in Atlanta. Thanks for all the info I have heard the manual FUE is the best way to go. I also was looking into Bernstein Medical in New York. What are your thoughts on PRP injections?

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  7 лет назад +1

      To be fair, I know Dr. Anderson personally and he's a Hell of a guy and I will happily admit he knows how to use the ARTAS to it's fullest potential. He has what looks to be really good results with it but of course I've not been to his clinic nor have I met his patients so I can't say anything beyond that.
      Dr. Bernstein is another doctor that I have respect for and I think he too uses the ARTAS to it's potential. However, the only doctor I can actually recommend on the East coast is Dr. Cooley in Charlotte, NC. He used to have an ARTAS but move away from it because he felt his manual and motorized FUE were better and since then his results are really taking off. I documented one patient of his that had a bad FUE elsewhere and he repaired the bad work with more FUE. I'm working on the final video of that documentary so you'll see his result soon and it is a Hell of a turn around. Since that procedure was performed Dr. Cooley has started using a new handheld motorized system that appears to be the best on the market. He loves it and is really happy with it's improved performance. You can see more about Dr. Cooley and my visit to his clinic here... ruclips.net/p/PLpyV-K01TgdibycfwjzKyOB-DzXkq6HkU

    This glossed over one of the most glossed over or downright ignored problems of your baldness continuing after your hair transplant and then having a weird, modified Mohawk look as your other hair near the transplanted areas goes away. Your balding pate doesn't stop losing hair after your transplant. You may eventually lose a lot of hair and it will become so obvious you had transplant surgery.

      hair restoration or not, a pre and post hair plan needs to be in effect to keep results as long as possible. Stem Cel, medications, shampoo treatments, laser, PRP all help to retain hair pre and post and no procedure.

    Hi there I got the Strip method and its been my fourth week. Im looking back and Im starting to regret it. the back of my head still hurts when I lay my head down and I did keep the scar in mind before hand luckily I can some what hide it. I havent really noticed any results I keep hearing they will come as late as 6 months. I did my research and its something I always wanted to do. now I'm just hoping the scar I have on the back of my head doesn't get stretched and I pray it heals good.

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  8 лет назад

      Don't worry. This is normal. The back will be sore for a while, probably another eight weeks. You won't see any signs of life from the new grafts for another eight weeks, too, and it will take longer for any cosmetic improvements, so yeah, maybe six months you'll see an improvement. The surgery is easy, the waiting is the hard part:)

How long did you wait to go back to working out?

    • @hairtransplantchannel

      1. I used an ointment called Bactroban in the past but that was on the recommendation of my doctor. Did it help? I can't say but I do like to use it on cuts to help them heal faster.
      2. This is a question you should ask your doctor as each clinic will have differing recommendations. In fact, your doctor's advice is the only advice you should take on this subject.

    • @hairtransplantchannel

      True, occipital nerve damage can occur but it is REALLY rare in good hands. However, I do know patient that had FUE where they too experienced long term or permanent numbness. This too is rare, but still possible so neither procedure is perfect in this regard. It is easier to cause this issue with FUT however, due to the nature of the procedure.

    Will the hair grow back on the back of the scalp for the fue surgery?

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  8 лет назад +1

      No. The hair is being moved from the back to the front (or wherever it is needed). That said, there is anecdotal evidence that there is SOME regeneration of hair in the extraction points of the donor but this is because of hairs that are damaged and left in the donor zone regrowing. In other words, when a multi-hair graft is removed sometimes a single hair is left in the donor because it was transected. The hairs that are removed are transplanted and may grow fine and the hair that was left behind may recover as well and regrow as normal but without the hairs that were originally in the same bundle. I hope that makes sense.

    So what to do then? Nothing. FUT is not good because of scar line, we can’t know if hairline will be natural, FUE is not good because of scar dots, thining. Is there any video here on YT that can show you without personal gain clinics that are checked and good. Because I would pay double only if I could get results without errors that is shown in this video.

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  6 лет назад

      FUT can be fine as long as you're not looking for a shaved head hairstyle. I don't regret my strip surgeries in the least and I can still have short haircuts and I accept the limitations of the scarline. Here is the thing about my clinic videos. They each pay me a monthly fee to be a part of my website; that part is no secret, but I don't accept clinics that I feel do not offer the most naturalness possible. They're vetted as clinics I'd consider myself based on my own standards. That is about as clear and transparent as one can hope for, but make no mistake about it. All clinics, including the ones I work with, have patients that wish they didn't have the procedure. It is a fact of life that no one is perfect and no clinic or doctor is 100% without errors every time. Never ever forget that.

      @hairtransplantchannel  6 лет назад +2

      Vitiligo is an autoimmune issue, and autoimmune issues and hair transplant surgery often do not go well together. But, vitiligo is targeting the melanocytes of your skin so it is probably alright for you. If you do develop new patches where you have the FUE scars it may actually serve to help camouflage the scars better as scars are typically white and there will be less visual contrast. Before you consider an FUE procedure however you should consult your regular dermatologist to make sure that it's ok. If your HT surgeon is a derm, all the better:)

      I'd just get a hair piece. You can have ANY hair you want. people won't notice. women won't care. You'll be fine. Hair transplant surgery is not smart.

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  8 лет назад

      You should use all the resources you have at your disposal, including www.hairtransplantmentor.com and www.IAHRS.org. It's not the best idea to wait to the last minute with the pressure of a scheduled surgery being an influence. One should only really book surgery if they have decided that it is right for them and they feel good about their choice of surgeon. You should consider discussing the cancellation policy with your clinic if you aren't feeling 100% ready.

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  8 лет назад

      Your comments are highly subjective. It depends on the quality of the hair piece, one's willingness to really take good care of it, and what kind of women it is that finds out. Some do care which is a whole other conversation altogether.

      My doctor is actually one of the IAHRS members. The doctors' websit has tons of information and they've been great about answering all my questions the past week. I'm going with FUE, so I expect to have the option of going with a military-style haircut if the results aren't what I'm expecting. Being a norwood 3, with a recommendation of 1600-1700 grafts, I am hoping for great results that will last me a little while before I'd have to get another procedure someday.
      Thanks again!

    • @vhaleryanadamant1975
      @vhaleryanadamant1975 5 лет назад

      The problem with Fin and propecia is that they are reducing DHT production.
      Alright, so DHT is an Estrogen inhibitor, meaning that estrogen in your body is converted into DHT because estrogen is not good for us.
      Thus, reducing DHT you increase your Estrogen in your body and in all honestly, search all the Finasteride dudes on youtube, they look and act gay.
      Too must Estrogen maybe? Most likely.

      Well from what I have read and heard from multiple sources say that two procedures are usually needed for optimal results. My first was done in 2010 and my second was done in very late 2019. I have had a total of about 2800 grafts between the two procedures. But it is going to be different for everyone depending on many factors such as your age how much hair loss you have and the quality of the donor hair. The doctor told me my donor hair was very good so that is likely why my results were good. I had my procedures done in that time frame due the rate of hair loss I was having. I would say that almost two thirds of the hair on the top of my head is transplanted hair. I am 50 years old so I don't know if I am going to lose anymore hair but I will have a third transplant if needed.
      Hope this helps good luck.

    Very good, succinct and true. I'd be the type to take the gamble of it working or not, but not after I saw all the shaved heads with horrendous scars. I'd prefer a braIN surgery scar. This simply told me that it doesn't work, it may buy some time, but they clearly shaved it all ultimately.

    Does hair grow back where your follicles were taken out and relocated??

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  8 лет назад +3

      No, because by definition a transplant of any kind is moving something from one place to another. If it is removed and placed somewhere else it cannot regrow in it's original location.
      Now, to be clear, some clinics will claim that regrowth or "regeneration" is possible, and it is on a very small scale, but only because the entire follicle has not been transplanted and there is some remaining follicular tissue in the wound. This has to do with "partial" follicular transection but it is more of a result of carelessness than intent and should not be expected, much less relied upon.

    Your doc does not do a transplant everyday, not only that but your doc does not even do a consultation every day, consultation only take half hour so even if your doc did 6 consultations in one day it would only take 3 hrs of his time,
    The doc clinic is open Monday to Friday am to pm he pays someone to man the front desk and keep the clinic open even we he has no consultations for the day or if he does 6 which only takes 3 hours he does not stay at the clinic for the rest of the day when he knows he has no more consultations to do he goes home and enjoys the rest of his day, but the clinic stays open for the rest of the day. He does this to pull the wool over your eyes and make it look like a legitimate doctors practise incase you drop by unannounced. When you drop by unannounced the person maning the desk will say to you "oh you just missed him" even though he was never there in the first place

      dboyz,
      I ended up NOT getting the procedure unfortunately or rather fortunately. When Dr. Wong saw me in the office, he realized that my donor hair was too thin and will not be able to cover the scar if I went with FUT procedure. Even with FUE, my donor hair wasn't enough to cover the balding area. Instead he prescribed me finasteride and depending on how I respond - that is if I can thicken my donor hair and even grow some new hair on top then he can decide if procedure can be done on me.
      I have to say I am very glad that I received valuable advice from Dr. Wong. Had it been greedy, unethical doctor, I would've ended up getting procedure and perhaps, possibly end up with very poor result. Dr. Wong is honest and is also a very generous man. I really want to thank Dr. Wong.
      From this experience, I realized even though hair transplant is the only legitimate way to treat baldness as it has produced amazing results for so many patients that no medications could have, it is NOT for everyone.
      I realized the limitations of hair transplant. It is not a cure for baldness as we already know it. I have lost my interest and hope for hair transplant after this.
      But the good news is there are several hair regeneration/ hair cloning treatments being developed by different companies, i.e. replicel, histogen, RT1640, etc. Although it may take some time for them to be available to the general market, they look promising and seems to solve the limitations of hair transplant surgery. So I am really banking on them. It make take a few years (hopefully) but I think it's really worth wait.

Many independent clinics aren't so they're doing it right in that regard. I also had a colleague tell me about a patient that had gone to Bosley and a couple of weeks after surgery there was zero indicators that there had been a surgery to begin with.

    Great short crisp message to people who may want to undergo a hair transplant , Thanks Joe for this, good to let people know the things the Dr's never highlight . Wish I had seen something like this before I went in for mine , thankfully my Dr was not a butcher and the research I did was not to far off the mark and so far doing ok 11 years and ticking. Nothing can be done about that damned strip scar though :( .
    As anyone contemplating such a move would understand , these thoughts come up at a certain point when the self esteem takes a hit due to progressive hair loss . For many people it does not make much of a difference but for many it causes a major lack of self confidence .Then comes these amazing advertisements telling us how easy it is to have a hair transplant and we will start looking like greek gods all over again!
    Like said in the very first sentence of this video - "People do not do proper research " before they decide on going ahead with this. There is a risk involved and a bad doc and a bad procedure will cause irreversible damage many times . No procedure is perfect , perhaps but if you end up with a good Dr , the side effects can be minimal and a certain degree of satisfaction can be achieved, this has been my personal experience. I have had 2 procedures one is 2005 and another in 2008 same place unfortunately both strip ( FUE was too expensive for me at that time ) plus a few body hair transplant also to see if that could be a future possibility . Over all I have been quite satisfied so far but wish I had gone for the FUE and not strip , as the strip scar is gona be there for ever and restricts the minimum length to which I can cut my hair.
    ONE of the major red flags that people overlook is the fact that they go for CLAIMS of websites and Dr's . Most have pics that cannot be zoomed and always will show patient in a particular angle where we cannot make out the thickness nor the way the hair i angled etc. STAY away from those - There are very few , but there are Docs who show extreme close ups and have almost every other patient pic uploaded and that too closeups from various angles , progression pics are also updated but sometimes the patients ( like me) might not be comfortable with that and such pics may not be available. Basically a person who puts his work out in the open for closer inspection and discussion seems like a better bet than the ones who are not even confident to put up close up or high definition pics on the websites( 2016 no high quality pic ? thats a red flag ) . Everyone has their own thought process but do ensure that a thorough research is carried out and DO NOT depend on the website reviews and agents of the Dr alone. Be aware of the side effects like Joe Tillman rightly points out , but then if you gotta do it , be WISE and do YOUR own research , else you will live to regret it .

    Thank you so much for this video. I am nearly 50 and I had two very bad plug transplants at age 18! It should never have been performed! Regardless of this, even the modern HT's of today to me are obvious. Maybe not to folk who have never seen one but I can pick one a mile away. I have worn a wig for the past 25 years to hide the scars left after I had the plugs in the front removed. My advice is EVEN if you have the ULTIMATE HT result. IT WILL CHANGE. Your donor and remaining hair will thin and you will end up looking like you are a chemo patient with scars! Over the years ALL the hair over your head thins and this will reveal scars, regardless of how well they healed. You are not increasing the amount of hair you have. You are simply rearranging what you have. TRUST ME. Over time you will not only resent having it done (no matter how good a result) but you will wish you had have just shaved your head. For me this is not an option due to the donor scars. Don't end up like me,......PLEASE!

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  8 лет назад +1

      Thank you for your comments. I'm sorry to hear of your case but I've run across hundreds in your exact situation. If your donor thinned however you may have been suffering from DUPA (diffused unpatterned alopecia) or maybe even senile alopecia. The latter is a case of the hairs miniaturizing in the donor zone where the former is a case of low natural density throughout the scalp. Both can be devastating in the long run but most patients do not suffer from this.
      Regarding your plug scars, there are options to improve them and in some case they can be made almost invisible. If interested I'm happy to talk to you about them. Contact me through my website, www.hairtransplantmentor.com.

    • @oncall21
      @oncall21 8 лет назад +2

      Thanks Joe. No I don't suffer from DUPA or any form of alopecia. I was only 20 at the time of surgical correction and the plug grafts in the front hairline were removed in a two stage strip excision, leaving me to this day with a horizontal linear scar across my top hairline. For years I have worn a hair piece to cover this. My advice to EVERYONE though, even with today's FUE and FTU procedures is DON'T DO IT! You have no idea how you will look in decades to come. A very young man has no concept of being older. I have friends my age 40's-50's and I can spot a modern day hair transplant a mile away. No one knows the exact extent as to how bald you will end up. As I said in my previous statement, you are only rearranging what you have left to cover an ever increasing balding area.

      Unfortunately you are incorrect. Who performs the surgery depends on where you are. In Turkey, most of the people performing the surgery are in fact technicians with little to no real medical training. In Europe, many of the better clinics are using technicians for half of the surgery. In the US doctors do perform most of the surgery but this too is changing. Some clinics are legally bound to have the doctor do the surgery entirely but they have technicians do the work so they can compete with other clinics that have lower prices. They also do this to be able to do more surgeries in one day.

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  8 лет назад +1

      I recommend that people try to accept their hair loss and move on. If one has to do something about it then consider medications to stop the loss first. It doesn't make sense to fill the gaps without preventing more gaps from forming first. If medications show positive results by even halting future loss then surgery can be considered but ONLY when the patient has understood that their result might not be as good as they had hoped or had been told. The point of this video is to call attention to this fact, that not all hair transplants work out for the best.
