That was so awkward I was genuinely embarrassed. And I love whenever Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian happen to be there to run interference. Like, whenever they glance at each other, you can see the "our sister likes t h a t???" in their eyes, and I love it.
Jin Zixuan initially thinks he’s too good for Yanli but later realizes her worth and falls in love with her. And him being rich and handsome doesn’t mean he isn’t dorky too 😂
The way Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng were just having silent conversations while these two were being awkward like: “Jiang Cheng she’s at it again” “Oh God no” “The peacock is staring at herrr” “She’s staring at the peacockkk” “Are you seeing this shit?” “How long are they going to stare at each other?” “Are we going to die here waiting for them?”
The lotus pond scene was iconic! Hands down, one of the best scenes! I have such a love-hate relationship with Zixuan...like I love him at times and at times I don't, but once he and A-Li got together, I started really liking him...like man's was just a big dork with a crush and problems expressing his feelings...I hate how they barely had time together, or time with their son. A-Ling is so much like Zixuan it's astounding, but sometimes I see A-Li in him too..the heart hurts!
I was so intent on hating this man that when I started to like him it made me twice as angry. That lotus pond scene was the most romantic thing I have ever seen and I am furious.
The book as a whole is that, love and appreciation aren't guaranteed in a relationship. Jin Zixuan loved Yanli, but always thought she'd be there to try and get him to love her. He's the only one who learned this before he lost her for good. Lan Zhan only learned AFTER Wei Ying was gone, but managed to get another chance.
The shitty titanic flute and Mii music had me dying because let's be honest. If their entire relationship had a theme song, it would 100% be a remix of both.
J Yanli and Jin Z were awkward when they encountered each other. It was blatantly obvious, and you couldn't look away. No matter how shy the interactions were or the times that Jin Zixuan stuck his foot in his mouth, he was nervous, but it was love. Some of the moments made me angry but also happy.
