I have a 2000 Honda Accord SE with a about 316,000 miles on it. My dashboard lights were doing the same thing, then my speedometer, rpm and temperature gauge stopped working. I pulled off the main highway, off the exit ramp onto a secondary road and my car progressively lost power until it died. This happened on a Sunday so the shop or mechanic I take it too was closed. The tow truck driver was able to start the car and drive it up on the trailer. I have or had a brand new battery so I'm thinking it's got to be the alternator since this is the original one, and I've had this car since it was brand new in 1999.
Is that what the issue was because I had the same problem but replaced my alternator twice and had them check twice and my system still phone charge after checking all the fuses
This is exactly what’s going on my 2001 Honda Accord and finally it died and I’m waiting for my aunt to get home to jump it (it’s a mile away). The last couple of days it won’t start unless I move the loose positive battery terminal a certain way.
Pulling the + positive lead of the battery cables to test the alternator? Are you not concerned about electrical arching? I don't know how sensitive the computer in newer vehicles are to voltage/current spikes, but there is a remote possibility that this practice can damage voltage/current sensitive components!
i have a 2001 accord ex 5 speed with 330k miles running strong but these lights have been coming on.. alternator and battery tested good.. there is corrosion on the terminals and wires though so maybe thats the problem?
Did you ever fix this problem?? I have the same issue with my 02 accord V6. I just put in a new battery...all lights went off then came on again the next day.
My car was doing the same thing , it started with the negative battery ground and I replaced it now the same lights are just stuck on idk wats wrong brand new battery and alternator
@@michaelatkin9649 probably a bad ecm at this point as it sounds like it's not resetting with the new batteries or alternator. Honda accords love to keep old info in the ecm and mess stuff up when they are of the 1998-2008 vintage years. Force a reset of the system so you guarantee its reading the new equipment not tryinb to run off old internal saved info
@@danyell4870 How do you reset the ECM please? I am having the same issue with my 02 accord V6. Got a new battery...lights went off then came back next day.
Buy a can of electronic cleaner disconnect the alternator plug spray it with that wait 3 minutes i did that to mine and the lights are off back to normal good luck.
Just bought a 2000 accord lx 3l v6 and the lights will flicker intermittently before my car feels like its starving for gas and stalls. Took it to 2 mechanics had the main relay fixed and still having the issue. The secong mechanic said my tensioner pulley needs replaced and my drive belt is glazed but the alternator is good and tge battery tests said the battery is brand new. Not ignition switch because i cant kill it by messing with the key no matter how hard i try. Also has trouble starting when its hot outside. All connections and wires are tight and secure. But both mechanics couldnt find out why my engine was randomly stalling. Any help would be amazing i cant seem to find anyone with the same issue
Jacob, did you ever figure out this solution?? I have an 02 accord V6 with same issue. Just put in a new battery...lights went off but came on again the next day. Please let me know if you ever figured this out!
On mine the battery and the open door lights are flickering but as soon as press the brake the lights go off I have a 2000 Honda accord with 326k miles on it does anybody know why the car does that ???
Had the same problem on the dash, and the car slowly shuts off and wont start, I got a new battery it worked for 2hrs and it shuts off. So i jumped the battery and started it and disconnected the negative battery connection and to see if the car was running and it flickers and shuts off. So this means i need a new alternator. By the way. When you want to test your alternator, disconnect the negative while car is on, not the positive because you will cause sparks and it will damage the computer lol
Not sure if you ran some tests with proper tools. Stop by Autozone, O'Reilley or PepBoys and have they run some tests. Could be something else. Let us know.
my alternator is going out lol the same lights flash when im going down the road but they never stay on or anything unless the motor is at 1200rpm some times 2500rpm
If you know or have tested as a bad alternator, then you MUST replace it asap for safety , cost(towing etc.) and other hassles. It can DIE anytime, and you can be in danger like on freeway or whereever..Please replace with a dealer OEM alternator. It's the alternator alright, replace it and you'll be amazed how much better it runs afterwards
mines doing the same thing .. 280k miles .. i took alt out tested ok .. but think its intermintant ,, replacing alt now
How many miles does the car have now or by the time you were done with it? And was it a V6 or a 4-cylinder?
We saw the car a few years back when it had about 260,000

at about how many miles is the car due for regular check ups?
