This segment is amazing. Rock trademark charisma and Randy’s reactions showed that they had amazing chemistry. And it was a story there. It’s a shame we couldn’t get this match.
Such a shame that this epic segment didn't lead to a Randy Orton Vs The Rock match at a major, it could have been a classic battle of two of the biggest 3rd generation wrestlers in the business but this was still a lot of fun watching these two in a fantastic war of words with each other 8:14 epic shot for what could have been a potential ppv match
They probably wanted to do it, but by 2004 Rock was a full time movie star, so the schedule didnt work out. After 2004, rock pretty much didnt show up in a WWE even up until 2011
I was just about to say this too. This segment felt like a start to a (could’ve been) feud that built up to them facing off at Wrestlemania 21 in Hollywood or something.
WWE obviously wanted to do it since they booked this segment in the first place, but Rock's priority was Hollywood and timing just wasn't right for him to do this feud for long. Shame, but WWE definitely ain't to blame for this one.
that wm 29 match was so underwhelming, it was so obvious cena was going over, doing every trick move in the book that rock did in wm 28, and rock stupidly falling for it, like what? even the rock wanted to put dolph ziggler over rather than cena, bc he was so over
@@theonlygoodonehere2259 Exactly, that rematch alongside Lesnar vs HHH wasn’t needed at all whatsoever. Cena didn’t need to beat The Rock to solidify his spot when he was ALREADY on top for the past 8 years straight. That WrestleMania nothing more than a easy money grab for Vince McMahon instead of him stepping out of his comfort zone. He’s too complacent, therefore he relies on part-time superstars that can’t even perform decent (ex. Goldberg) to draw ratings. Hell, he didn’t even bother to put in effort in the Taker vs Punk feud and relied on Paul Bearer’s recent death to sell the storyline. I’m glad Vince left creative.
@@dr.alexander7039 oh yeah the thing that pissed me off is they were mocking his death, instead of letting bearer rest in peace, no pun intended, vince didn't bother with the storyline at all, cena was great and didn't the massive push by winning royal rumble and taking the title off or the rock, it could have gone to someone else who needed it big time, this was the start of wwe going downhill, and cena I believe ordered for this to happen since he lost in wm 28, and hated it, so he wanted his get back at wm 29, I do believe taker vs punk should have been the main event
With the Rock now the Final Boss and a heel and Orton being beloved with fans singing his song, I want this now more than ever. Over 20 years in the making, we should at least get a segment between the two again, maybe Orton can get payback on the mic.
Fuck, I remember watching this "live" on TV. I also remember having a flashback when IC champ Orton walked out as arrogant as The Rock used to as IC champ in '98.😁
If we brought this fictional backstory to life. When would’ve it taken place? Andre died in 93? Rock debuted in 96. Randy born in 1980 would’ve been 16 playing with my little pony and T bagging King Kong Bundy. I’m guessing somewhere in the mid 80’s. Rocky Johnson got fired from WWF in 85 so young rock have been there between 85 and 95. So go back to 85. Young rock is 13. Randy is 5. 13 year old rock is backstage. Cowboy Bob Orton introduces His 5 year old son to Dwayne 😂
It would have been in 84-85, around that time. Both Rock and Randy were often seen backstage hanging out with wrestlers and as kids they took many pictures with the guys. Like Randy posing with Hogan, or Rock with André. So yeah, 84-85-86.
So why did The Rock really have to leave? Out meeting with fans or doing some other movie thing? And I wonder how much of that history of their childhood was true 😂
if only orton couldve had an amazing mini-feud with rock after he feuded with cena in 2011-12. would've been better than orton staying super-orton for ages imo.
We were this close 🤏 of getting Randy vs Rock at WM 40! Make it happen this year 2024! 20 years in the making ! Btw, if Rock vs Randy at WM21 would’ve been big!

I can't believe it's been over 20 years!
Randy Orton: "I never had a pretty pony." "That was my sister's ok!"😂😂😂😂😂
Randy Orton embarrassed himself.
😄😄😄
💯👍👍👍
More entertaining than last 10+ years of wrestling. These two actually felt like movie characters.
Yeah randy stood in here with the rock something triple h couldn't do even when the rock hadn't developed his acting skills.
The rock was savage to Randy Orton
At least this the rock were
It was all outta love though
Cowboy Bob Orton: One day my son's gonna be great.
20 years later he still is
Junior was right!RIP senior
7:00-7:40 was fuckin hilarious, and then when Randy tried to talk Rock said "Shut your mouth!" that shit had me dying

The Rock dresses up like Carl Johnson and a character in Def Jam game. 😂
This was 2004 that was the swag bra
Ironically the best Def Jam game came out that year
Well, both GTA San Andreas and Def Jam Fight for NY were both released the same year this segment aired so yeah
That drip was peak 2004.

How did the wwe not make this a match? This is nuts

The mic has a better run than anybody today
The commentary kills me everytime lol. Jerry Lawer's voice is comedy commentary
The Rock said "I don't care if you are the son of Bob Orton I will still whoop your candy ass"
Randy Orton at the time said he was the longest reigning IC Champion last 7 years the last person to had the IC title that Long.......The Rock
I hope Randy gets involved with Rock/Roman/Cody storyline
