  • Bond buying (and selling) is one of the primary tactics the Fed uses to influence the broader economy. The Fed balance sheet is basically an accounting of these activities. It provides analysts and investors some insight into the scale of the Fed's actions.

    People will look back on this event like we do the Great Depression and be in awe with how The Fed navigated this with relatively minimal impact.

      The story is pretty amazing. I really enjoyed the book "Trillion Dollar Triage" which details what was going on inside the Fed during March of 2020. Even now, the public has almost no idea how bad the situation was. The entire financial system was on the brink of collapse. Powell and the Fed board deserve a lot of credit for taking decisive action IMO.

    Where can I find this table on the Fed's website or online in general? I'm being advised to keep an eye on the Fed's liquidity movement as one of the key variables to track the current Bitcoin price trend.

    Thanks a lot, very good video!! I have a question. You talk mostly about the asset side. But what about the liability side? Part of it is composed of the creation of money but most of it is bank deposits. And bank deposits was nothing in proportion before 2008 and got to 800billions from nothing in 2008 in comparison to 100 billion increase in money creation. Would you know how the fed could get these 800billiions? Which banks had deposits to give during the crisis?? It makes no sense to me.

    Great video and explanation, just subscribed to your channel. I have a question though, you are referring to the chart in trillions of dollars but the chart says assets in millions, what am I missing?

    • @TedErhartCFP
      @TedErhartCFP  Год назад +1

      It's a little tough to explain via text. But if you go to the chart Fed's chart at www.federalreserve.gov/monetarypolicy/bst_recenttrends.htm and hover your cursor over it, that should answer your question.
