Did you ever review why you went with Simrad vs Garmin? Did you order all electronics via the factory? I got mine from Fishtale and it didn’t come with any electronics. They recommended (so I agreed) all Garmin equipment (I have radar as well).
I choose Simrad because it is compatible with Isla Mappings Florida Marine Track s chip. That chip is incredible for fishing shallow! All electronics where added by the dealer
Glad to see your using your electronics to your advantage, one feature I find great on the halo is you can set dual range on one screen, this way you can have one on close range example 1/4 mile and the other on like 2 or more miles, the detail you see will be astounding, it will be easier for you to go on RUclips and type in simrad halo dual range then me explaining how to do it. @@CanalLifeSWFL hi yes I do overlay on the radar on the chart, it’s a game changer, it helps you determine buoys/ markers from moving targets, but I’m not sure if you have a heading sensor? But you will need one to overlay, the cheap way is the simrad gs25 , once installed you will have overlay, maybe your lucky and the dealer installed one already, not sure if you have the halo 20 or 20+ but if you have the 20+ you will also get velocity track with the heading sensor I mentioned, that is awesome it will change the colors of the targets to let you know if they are coming towards you or going away from you , simrad is a game changer for sure .
@@CanalLifeSWFL I really think you need a heading sensor like a gs25 , or similar to get radar overlay, I had to or your gonna keep getting a radar overlay invalid message.
Your 266 is simply amazing and know you got to love every minute being on that girl. I live in Virginia Beach, VA and 12-months ago picked up a 2023 Robalo 246 and a few months later the 266 was announced. It is all about timing! If i would have know about the 266...I might have waited. My next upgrade is going to be the Simrad 20 radar. Been caught out and wish I had it. Question: at the 1:20 mark you mentioned 'Bait Pot". Can you share with me how you set this up? I'm just learning the salt water fishing stuff and know live bait is a game changer and never even thought about setting out my own bait pots. Thanks in advance for your assistance!
Glad you found it. Trapping can be super effective....it's also a fun excuse to go on a Friday evening cruise to drop traps for the weekend. Enjoy your 246.
You can also tune that to find birds!!
I need to try that. For this area, that means bait!!!

Awesome advice. Do you overlay the radar to the chart? My dealer said it can be done but I haven’t figured it out yet.
