- Howdy fellas, bonus video this week going over the topic of old lego vs new lego. Thank you all so much for 4k subs! I'd love to know your guys opinions in the comments as im just too much of a fanboy for this kind of topic.
Should still have a video up on Sunday too so don't forget to check that out! Let me know if you have anything you want me to cover in the comments, im creating a big list of requests for me to get around to when i have a bit more free time.
I hear "straight bussin no cap" is on the short list to become Lego's new motto.
i was hoping the new sonic release would say something like "No cap squad we clocked you guys thinking sonics bussin so we deadass dropped a whole new line fr fr" 😥
Lol
I honestly have no idea what that phrase means because that’s not English.
@@HomerSimpson-tv5yu even with knowing what the words mean they dont make much sense in this context. It essentially means "very delicious, and thats a fact" which doesnt really work for things that arent food
Some of the best Lego content man, please keep up with the great work!
This is 100% the most aesthetically pleasing era of Lego, with a lot of specialized parts and fine detail. However, I think the massive amounts of small pieces is used to justify big price hikes via the “price per piece” rule that a lot of people follow. But to me, it also sacrifices a lot of creativity that old Lego used to be about. Alternative builds, places to add on other parts, and a stylized personality aren’t things we see much of these days.
Again, new sets look and hold up better than ever. But Idk maybe I’m a boomer, I just have such a respect for old Lego.
Great video!
Respect the way you collect. I'm the same way where I'm not the biggest fan of some of the companies decisions and faults, but Lego as a product provides stuff I always enjoy (except technic) modern or vintage.
I'm definitely team aquazone though
Aquazone was pbly my favourite theme as a kid (along with divers)... I'm a boomer obviously, and what I love about 90s themes is the lack of licensing and the "generic" aspect of it. Themes used to serve as simple "blueprints" for whatever you wanted to build with your imagination ("space", "pirates", "adventure", "western" etc...). On the other hand I would be lying if I said everything looked good. Modern lego, when done right, is on a whole other level. Monkie kid is peak "zoomer lego" imo. And it looks amazing.
Vintage all the way!!! Nothing beats adventurers, western, pirates and castle!!!!!
I am definitely on team old school Lego. Pirates is amazing!
I think a lot of the older "playsets" are still better than the new stuff.
My kids can barely get their pencil fingers inside the new Lion Knights castle as many of the areas are tight and narrow.
Man I can't get over you your style of comedy is straight banging up in this place definitely be heading to my top 5 lego RUclipsrs fr fr stay safe brother and one word of advice try not to go broke
I love the running joke of your wife being mad at you for your poor financial decisions
Ha, yeah....joke 👀
"Castle, Space, Trash"
Thank you for shitting on LEGO Town/City. It has a niche but it's awfully bland compared to GOATed Space and Castle
I agree that the corporate elements of lego is questionable but the sets and parts are so fun!
Vintage LEGO definitely has that charm the newer design philosophy lacks... but man the clutch power sometimes doesn't last.
Love the original slave 1. Did everything it needed to. Great playability and so much fun
It's a lovely brick!
From the Jetpack down the new Boba Fett is perfect, BUT WHY DID THEY MAKE THE HELMET AND JETPACK SAND GREEN, WHYYYYYYYYYYYY.
I'm an 80s kid so it's classic Castle all the way. Space and Pirates come second and third, respectively. "Trash" is definitely last. It had a good set here and there, but not enough.
I sold that starship set for $60 like 10 years ago. I don't have many regrets in life, but I have some.
I actually have both, though I recently took apart the newer set for parts. Watching this video, I feel like I'd like to have it together again to display! Maybe I'll do that eventually...but I'm a massive fan of the scale of the larger Slave I sets though
Can't believe he didn't make classic mandolorean bobba fet
Very good comparison of the two medium-sized Bosch Home and Garden Angle Grinders.
I see you everywhere 😂
@@legoanimegirl i AM everywhere.
@@pi172 wanna be friends?
@@legoanimegirl the timing is kind of suspicious. Just when I was about to plan whom I will invite to my birthday party... but ok.
@@pi172 oooh I'd love to be invited! It's a shame I can't make it...
I got the og Slave 1 back on my 6th birthday at Chuck E Cheese, and I still have it to this day, box, instructions, and all
It was such a fun set
I love this channel it's bussin' no cap!
Wait, I had that ship when I was little, but it was non of those 2 sets. It had these 2 large dark red curved pieces for the back of the ship that weren't on any of the ones you showed. I'm pretty sure there's a third set.
1:06 he's got such a way with words...
i prefer the classic sets
Modern Lego suffers from an uncanny valley type of issue. The sets (at least the themed ones) look almost exactly like their real-life/movie counterpart but aren’t really on the detail level of display models and lack the charm and creativity of the old ones (due to the lack of available shapes/parts). Part of the charm was seeing how certain combinations of parts were used to represent other shapes rather than just simply molding a custom piece in the exact shape needed.
Just my opinion
I 100% agree! New lego to me feels like ornaments while old lego are clearly toys 😁
Congrats ob 4k subs. I hope you keep on making these good and entertaining videos
I will not accept this lego town slander! Are you saying a series of bland unrealistic space vehicles that all look the same is better than the second best classic minifigure theme? (right after castle of course, castle is the second best theme in general, right after bionicle)
As much as i want to defend the space vehicles, you have a point....and that makes me even more angry! Darn Town enjoyers😡
i checked the listing of the 1949 set you showed on bricklink. the price has increased by 1000€ since you uploaded the video
The footage is from a while back but thats crazy!
it sure it. unless the seller saw this and was like: yes free advertisement. time to make the big bucks. :D
I like both worlds, old and new LEGO. Each one has its pros, and the fact you can combine pieces from decades ago with nowadays bricks is pure genius.
Hmmm... I think I'm team Ninja (not Ninjago, but those are also cool), Classic, Creator 3-in-1 and (although I just have a modern Johnny Thunder) Adventurers and Indiana Jones :3
LEGO is quickly racking up negative brownie points for me. I'll always love their stuff of the past, but they just don't seem to understand their community anymore when it comes to what sets people want made and what sets people really don't want, changes people never asked for and actually just making things worse without realizing it. Here's a brief list of reasons LEGO is currently on the naughty list, just star wars related:
- Changed the stormtrooper helmet to a dual-molded design that looks like a Family Guy character for no reason, instead of updating the print for the old helmet to make it more accurate.
- Saw that the community wanted a 501st battle pack to amass as many 501st clones as possible, and in response made a $30 cashgrab ($18 increase with inaccurate vehicles no-one asked for) as a reward for their loyal fanbase.
- Created one of the best sets of one of the top 2 most sought-after army building clones with the Clone Command Station (albeit $3 overpriced), yet dropped the ball ridiculously hard in production by A) not making nearly enough for the demand that was obvious to expect, B) almost NEVER restocking it in many places until the last few months of its shelf life, C) Only allowing a maximum of 5 to be purchased per household online, for an ARMY BUILDER, D) Ending its shelf life EARLY?! despite HUGE demand (I have 20 fewer than I want) while NOT ending production of a vastly more undesirable set (Hoth accessory pack) that was released at the same time, F) introducing a terrible single-use plastic packaging which there was no demand for, which also went completely against their new renewable goals, and G) ONLY selling it in LEGO stores or online (max 5) and NO-WHERE ELSE? You don't want to know how many miles I drove just to get the few copies of the set that I have.
- After designing brand new helmets for Phase 2 clones with no helmet holes (indicating a possible future transition from the 20-year-old helmet attachments to a more modern system that attaches to the helmet slots), they then began discarding that helmet mold completely with the new ATTE and using an inferior helmet mold with ugly helmet holes that no-one asked for instead of designing new helmet attachments which people DID ask for, *with the knowledge that the new helmet holes introduced a printing limitation that made printing accurate helmet designs impossible, which is the whole soul of differentiating between clones...
I could continue forever. That is the SMALL version. LEGO needs to figure out what the hell is going wrong, hire a community communication manager and actually learn how to make good and iterative products again.
I own two of the 2022 galaxy explorers 1 I got for a Christmas present the other bought with Christmas money I have a fleet of space man ready for battle
When I was like 15 I decided "no lego system is for kids, I will only buy technic and cool sets". Now years later I am regretting it buyingold sets at high prices
Team Aquazone! Congrats on 4k subscribers 🎉
Absolute banger of a video! I recently found and completed my 7144 Slave 1 and looks like I bought the last trans-black cockpit parts from Bricklink in the process, sorry fellas😅 Well worth it, the old sets have some nostalgia soaked charm the new sets just dont have for me
I like the Slave One a few years ago. Concealed weapons, giant cockpit, the wings adjusted to how the ship was sitting, upright or laying down. And the one seat it had for Boba Fett was connected to the wings so his seat's position would match the wings. Still carried the sleek design of this newer one but it was a bit bigger and allowed a little extra articulation.
Why did youtube not recommend this to me. I click on everything you upload.
2:00 Not that I don’t want to see your face, but I’m glad you kept with your Lego persona. It’s better for the RUclips atmosphere imo
New Robrick video. I WILL BE THERE!
2:06 my Christian eyes cannot handle such violence!
Featuring the correct take on everything in the video
This chanel is straight bussin no kapuchino iced latte
totally had that original slave 1 too, its been fun watching your channel seeing the old sets I used to have
Best Lego RUclipsr I’ve found
I had the adventure one with the car tent and Egyptian sphinx.
Loving the humor! Subbed. Keep it up! Off to 100k Subs! Let's Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
He uploaded on not a Sunday…. impossible
lol Great work, love your humor. Please compare more star wars lego sets.
Aw man but It;s the only Boba I can afford tho xD
yikes of some these pieces are in rough condition
i always thought the boba fett figure from the starship set was the same colors as the print on his torso, but now that i see that it isn't even close. that has to be one of the worst bobas i've ever seen, AND I'VE SEEN SPILLED BOBA TEA ON LEGO BEFORE. EVEN THAT WOULD BE A BETTER BOBA
Its truly amazing how bad that boba fett is 🤣
mf really said Lego has been around for … a long ass time lmao 😂
Your the best Lego content corner on RUclips! >o
i perfer the 2006 slave 1
Greatest Lego RUclipsr ☝
Team trash all the way
Was expecting you to kinda stick to a once a week schedule, well as long as the quality of the vids doesn’t decrease I’m all for it.
I had some time off work so i thought id pump another vid out this week 😁
I find myself a little dissatisfied with a lot of modern Lego. When the most recent castle set sells for more then some of the older vintage sets I know I have been priced out of the hobby. I've been looking at old sets I always wanted as a kid but could never afford and wondering if I should try and get a few. Though I know it won't be the same feeling after all this time.
The prices are rather high for both new and old lego now, if i ever start a family im definitely going to be priced out of the big sets 😥
Team vidyo for life ✊😞
I like how Lego was more simpler back then
New video on a week day yesss
Bro this is great hahahaha
Do ya like Star Wars
you better have a lot of ammo if you wanna keep taking shots at technic x.x
Grrr! Technic fans >:I
You didn't show the 1 from the mid 2000's. That is the one I have.
I dont have that one sadly 😥
awesome vid!
Dang you have grown ive been with you since 700
Thanks for staying with me
cool video
Eyy a video not on Sunday, let's goooo. In my humble opinion I think both zoomer and boomer Lego have their charm and they both have their different negatives and positives. Great job as always👌
Why does the grey and white Lego over time discolor ?
Some sort of chemical they use in making those colours react badly to UV lights :)
Another amazing video! I was actually surprised for a minute because it's not Sunday 😍😍👍
What do you think of Lego mars mission? I grew up with those sets and would love to see you talk about them!
Huge fan! My mum bought me some of them for Christmas when i was a kid so they've always had a special place in my collection 😊
@@RobrickLego Ah gotta love moms, hope you’re doing well! And good luck! Can’t wait for the next video!
This is just the third video I saw from you, but every one is a true gem and I have to re-watch every one of them like 10 times. Amazing content.
The new Boba would have looked much better if they gave him a dark green helmet.
True, the prints are nice its just the colours are questionable :(
@@RobrickLego Their current OT Boba has the same problem, IMO. The helmet and the breastplate should be the same colour, and I don't think sand green really works for the character.
I absolutely love your style of video, I would love more Star Wars lego related content, but regardless I reckon your channel will grow exponentially very soon
Two videos in a week? We are blessed by the LEGO Castle Gods
Nice
Thanks shrek, big fan of your movies!
@@RobrickLego I appreciate it although I have to admit I am not the real Shrek, if I see him I will tell him. I am sure he will be happy to here that from his swamp.
i think the new sets look way sleaker and more scrumptios which i like but old lego has a certain charm to it
Robrick uploaded!? Let's go!!! 😆
Love Your Content Sm 💙
