If you turn your coat-hangers backwards at the start of the year and flip them as you wear the items, then at the end of the year you can see what you haven't worn. I also put my "maybe" pieces in a box and wait a while before I donate - it helps me mentally to see that I was fine without that item in my wardrobe and I can let it go easier.
