Studios now just use oil based paints to weather the hats. There was some behind the scenes footage of Dial and the prop department was painting various shades of brown on the fedora itself. Now in 2024 movie studios don’t weather hats the way they did back then. Now everything is just painted on.
I did hear about the Destiny hat being painted. I still prefer the fullers earth myself. Plus that way I can always take it off if I want it clean again.
I think that’s how they age stuff in the movie industry now is with various oil based paints. I guess they don’t have the time to pay their employees to sit there and spend weeks distressing one article of clothing
Or you can weather it and still do all of those things? I prefer to keep my hats clean(ish) but some people want weathering and dust that’s accurate to what they see on the film……
ok, thats awesome, however, its not cheap ! I bought some and it is weird stuff. try not to breath it directly. NOW GET THIS, I dropped my hat at a job and covered in drywall dust ! yes ! drywall dust, looked great. just have to figure a way to tint it. But the salty sweat stains is dead on. great videos, luv ur hats.
Great video! Gotta get myself some fuller's earth to distress my Raiders hat! If you don't mind me asking, where do you get the felt bodies for your hats? The two hats I've made were made with felt I found on Etsy, but I wasn't able to get anything quite as floppy as I wanted. Your felts always look great, so I was wondering where you source them from? If that's a trick of the trade you'd rather keep confidential though, I understand! Thanks for the awesome video!!!!
Great video! I need to get some fullers!
Thank you, buddy! I threw a link in the description!

Thanks for the tutorial!
Absolutely! Thanks for the great Doom videos!
Just wear it, go hiking, split some firewood, work up a good sweat a few times and it will look a hell of a lot better just from the wear.......

Cool channel. I was wondering, do you make hats for customers?
Is there a tutorial on how to make up the fedora of the last crusade?
Do you sell your hats and if so where would one go to purchase one?
Where can I buy a hat like these? So cool.
Just google indiana jones fedora.
