Video Creator's Notes: A birthday present from myself to myself and all of you. Okay, so yeah, I know I stated in my last AMV that I was going to use the live action Lion King film to make my next AMV. I'll be honest, I tried on two separate occasions using two separate songs and I just couldn't get into it. Whenever I played back any of it, it just came off looking like a nature documentary (all be it a beautiful looking one) with music set to it. I'm not saying that I won't ever make an AMV using the live action film but it will take a lot more time and effort than I had previously expected it would have. As for this AMV though, I really enjoyed listening to this song. It grew on me quickly and even though it's a few years old, I still wanted to use it in an AMV. I admit, the lyrics and theme of the song don't necessarily directly relate to those of The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride, but I did my best to make it work. In short, the storyline goes as follows. Kiara and Kovu want to be together but Simba doesn't want Kiara to be with Kovu for fear that he might challenge his own position as pride leader. Devistated that her father could be so unwilling to give Kovu a chance, Kiara does what she sees as being the only way out of her hopeless situation. Worrying for her wellbeing, Kovu decides to go looking for Kiara even if he was told by Simba to stay away from the Pride Lands. There, he finds Kiara in a critical state. He tries his best to save her by taking to her to his pride to get help but it's too late. Heartbroken and alone, Kovu leaves his pride, still seeing Kiara's spirit wherever he goes. Indeed, a very depressing video to put up on a day that's supposed to be typically happy, but it's really the underlying theme of love and devotion that I hope you all will take away from this one. Oh, and a quick note about how the scenes are colored and how they relate to the story. Scenes in regular colors are present day, scenes that start out in color but fade to black and white are past events that actually took place, and scenes that look all dreamy and glowy looking are the unfulfilled hopes and dreams of Kovu and Kiara.
