- Rain chains are typically either a series of metal cups, chained together with a hole in the bottom of each, or chain links that span vertically. Rain water run-off gets distributed from a rooftop gutter downward through the rain chain.

What a beautiful yard and garden patio area. I had to come see what these were and see one working after watching a house tour online with rain chains. I had no idea such an invention existed and must say I love both the look and the sounds of the cascading water. Looks to be a fairly uncomplicated project and looking online at pricing, doesn't seem to be extremely expensive. Thanks for sharing your project. Feel this one is going to be in the plans for many.
Thank you very much! I enjoy them and they are not too bad to install.
POV: your here from that tiktok video of the guy installing a rain chain and needed to see it in action
Which guy?
Thanks for visiting.
No sure...
Ummmm, can we talk about how BEAUTIFUL your yard is?!?!?
(sorry, your channel is probably known for this but this is my first video from you!)
Thank you for the kind words... It's a work in progress :)
This is awesome, calming and what a beautiful backyard!
Thanks for watching!
Very cool. I'm thinking of adding one of these and doing some additional water harvesting - having the water collected go to a rain barrel.
Great idea! I love these rain chains and my family does too.
It truly looks beautiful
I typed in rain chimes and this video came up, wow! really cool 😎
Thanks for watching.
Wow. Your garden looks amazing! I'm getting me some rain chains.
Thank you for the kind words, you will love them!
Wow 🤩 that is amazing
Thanks sir!
Brah, put this on tic tok. Most people have never seen one of these.
Great idea, thanks~
Thank you very much
Thanks for watching!
Excellent!
Thank you! Cheers!
I wonder if there’s a Climbing Vine plant that could replace the chain. It would have to tolerate water, and there could be an aluminum fence that it climbs, right under the gutter
Good idea, maybe a snail vine? Out here, the ants would climb up the vine and invade the house!
I like those but I really like your terraced backyard. Did you do that yourself or who did you contract? Very nice, patio too.
Thank you! I did it myself because heavy rains eroded the soil and started to damage the house. I plan to add more dragon fruit plants to this wall in the future.
Wow, this is very interesting 🤔
Thanks for watching!
wow....so nice
Thank you! Cheers!
lol way to throw a little shade to the normal rain gutter, but also... I can't wait to make one.
Thanks :) So easy to make these mundane objects more interesting.
Those are cute and rad dude
Thanks
Wish I was handy, I would get one. So you buy the rain chain all assembled and you just attach to your gutters?
Do you have trouble with mosquitoes around the collection pot of the first rain chain. Like when it’s not raining and water is still.
Good job
Thank you for watching
I love rain chains, but here in Australia, all our gutters are connected to rain water tanks. Not a drop off any of my rooves, are wasted
i like them both
me too.
Thanks for watching!
Who else came from that tiktok
I'm curious about the source of the traffic. Can you post a link?
@@WhatPlantisthatPaul I can’t find the video but this guy just posted a video on a rain chain but he didn’t show how it worked so people came too RUclips to look up how it functions 👍
What happens if the wind is blowing really hard will the rain chain be moving back and forth?
Here because of Hometown
It that good? Thanks for watching.
What happens when its windy though?
That's mostly it? Just for aesthetics? With how troublesome gutters are, I figured there would be more to it is all.
How did you connect it to the gutter?
Hi! They connect to the spout without any drilling. They had instructions provided when I bought it.
@@WhatPlantisthatPaul thank you!
the first one, where did you get that one?
I found it on Amazon several years ago
what is the best way to figure out where to place it, I do have gutters, and how do you attach it, did you drill a hole for it?
I selected locations with excellent drainage and far enough from windows so they don't get splashed. For installation, I followed the directions and did not need to drill any holes. The rain chains attached to the top of the downspout. I might add one more :)
@@WhatPlantisthatPaul For me I have metal roof run off that splashes my window in heavy rains the window is covered with rain. I had stacked up some thin bricks to divert the water which worked great splashing onto a sidewalk but my roof power washer moved the bricks and now I cannot figure out how I had so well lined them up. I found rain chains to experiment with at Joanne's for 60% off, but they are not copper so they will eventually rust out. I am going to paint them with rustoleum for now because in Florida we are moving into rainy April and I need to do something experimental at least. The strategy is to catch the origin of the drips diverted by the bricks for me. Thanx for your help and links. I had no idea they had parts at Amazon that I may be able to use.
Why not gather rain water?
Maybe in the future. In short, mosquitos are bad out here now with the ankle biters.
These won't work for two-story houses during windy storms. The wind will toss the chain all over
That is true. Perhaps make a rigid one?
POV: you’re looking for the “here from ticktock” comments
Lol, quite a few ticktock visitors came after some video.
Expensive as poop
How do you craft or make these rain chains ?
Amazon or online stores. I have seen some in our area made of copper, but very expensive.
@@WhatPlantisthatPaul thanks Paul really awesome
