Love the guide's, it's rare these day's that I learn something new from guides after producing for over a decade. Its very smart how you guys market your product by teaching the customer tips and tricks, while showing off what that plug-in can do at the same time!
4:51 when I saw you do this, the first thing I thought was to use the Filter, put the line where you have it (in volume shaper) but set mode to High Pass and take out more of the bass versus cutting the sample shorter. (for those that want to keep the sound but not the lingering bass) Thank you for your awesome videos! 🙌🏾
Amazing video mate. I’m never a fan of the “too clean” or too processed. I love sampling stuff and feel it has more character. Your stuff is always helpful!
As much as I love ShaperBox, there needs to be a fuction to center the oscilloscope on the filter, volume etc to see what the said parameter is doing to the waveform in real time. Is this possible?
@@richardhanula4702 as much as it is a good tool to use, you've only chose a pugin that works for windows! And I wasn't talking about phase issues at all, it's a simple case of seeing the waveform in realtime and seeing what you do to the waveform when you make adjustments weather it's phase, volume etc!
Yes! Or you could set up different curves in the Wave Palette, then switch through them with MIDI notes or automation - useful for making each kick sound slightly different 👍
TIP: If you have a heavy latency project and you wanna make your kick shorter but there is latency so what I do is on the same channel a group with another instrument, I put external instrument and I send me directly from the kick midi itself to the shaper box in the same channel, you don't need to open another one. I love shaper box haha :)
Good shout! But just to save you all that routing and setup, Audio mode is also unaffected by latency. So it would be easier for you to use audio triggering 👍
This definitely fits a need I have to get rid of some long subby part of a kick, but I'm struggling to make it work with a particular kick. I'm using Microtonic for the drums. So in shaperbox there is the Oscilliscope output and grid. In your video, the kicks always hit nicely right at the start of the grid. This works for me fine with a lot of different kicks in Microtonic, but for many of them, the kick start is all over the place, so it's impossible to draw a curve proprely, because you don't know where the kick starts/ends in that grid. Is there a work around? I might have to use something else for kicks or something. I went through like 80 kicks in Sonic Academy Kick 3, and everyone worked perfectly, but a lot of kicks in Microtonic do not. It's like Shaperbox 3 can't detect the start and end of some kicks in there for some reason.
Is ShaperBox loaded on the solo kick channel, not the full drum group? If so, it sounds like you may need to click the small cog icon to open the Audio Trigger setup screen. Here you can adjust trigger settings to make sure every kick is detected by the triggering - try lowering the Threshold, switching to a different Algorithm, and/or increasing the Detail slider. Another thing to consider is your kick's transient. If the kick is soft and 'rounded', and doesn't have a defined transient for the algorithm to detect, it will be more difficult. But again, you can usually get it right by adjusting the above settings. If the lack of transient means the triggers are late, you can shift them earlier with the Trigger Shift slider. If you're still having problems with this, email us at contact@cableguys.com with more info (ideally a video or project file) and we can give more specific help.
I recently received the most blubbery kick track imaginable. Beyond old school redemption. Until I thought of what you're presenting here as Tip Nr.3. I loaded Volume Shaper and within 10 seconds the thing was as tight as a cat. I actually burst into a roar.
Something very similar, yes! We've been doing this 'kick extraction' trick for many years - see our older video from 2017 I referenced in the video, linked in the description 👍 - Joe
Don't waste money in something you can make with pure side-chain in volume and filter. You can even use the pure kick itself without anything and making something more creative, more creative than using a CPU hog that costs 100 euros Like my brother in christ you can even do this in OpenMPT if you desire making music in low specs with 0 money What I'm saying if you think you need this tool, think about it again. Does this "tool" makes some procceses more simple? Do you get the inversion back from what you make specifically? If so, why are you spending that money in some expensive and CPU-excessive tool rather than learning something kinda more "not-intuitive" but more effective way? At the end of the day you will get a better product out of your budget. Time or money. What a dystopia.

Great tips, Joe! 💛💙
Thanks, Andi 🙏
Shaperbox is one of my favorite plugins
So great to hear!
I love Shaperbox, I can't live without it, I use it every day, well done Team
Big up Fanu!!!
Yep!
Another amazing video with loads of golden information nuggets. Thank you.
What a great video!!! Joe knows his stuff!1 Cableguys jedi!!!
Thanks! - Joe

Happy to help! 😊
you are the best Joe efficient simple powerful Thank you ✨👏
number one plugin to reshape any sound & much more !

Absolutely, great idea 🙌🏻
psyscope pro, great for aligning elements, solving phase issues etc

Can’t wait to watch that !
Thank You
You're welcome!
Interesting... I just realized I can do the same thing with Kickstart and khs transient shaper. Thanks for this little golden nugget. 😎🤙🏽
No problem! :)
At 3:31 you can enable and disable the filter as you did and use the filtered/unfiltered kick as a call and response trick :)

Please make an AUV3 version 🥺 I’m definitely gonna buy it right after the release
Ah, I didn't even know you did long version videos, sweet
Yup, and more to come 👍
⚠ kick pitch ENVELOPE is as important to make a kick fit i learned.
Kick 3 is great with that. Kick 2 is easier to use, just as good with that envelope. Less options in Kick 2, but the pitch envelope is still there.
Thanks for the advice, Yoda! To make the kick fit, attention I must pay.

Can you guys just make my dreams come true and make a percussion/kick synthesizing module.. best lfo editor and it's not even close

didn't D. Ramirez just post this exact video.

Helpful, NAMM 2025?
Glad you like it! We won't be at NAMM.

there is an easier way.
dont load the drumloop in to a sampler. just cut out the part of audio you want.
fade out and resample it.....
Can we FINALLY save our own presets to create preset packs?!! PLEASE RESPOND!!
Yes, you can save and load presets in FXP format via the main menu.
to get a clean kick don't use a clean kick, use a dirty one and then clean it
Exactly 😅
And then put in a super cluttered mix where it gets buried anyway. 🤷🏼♂️
Nice plugin, though it is on the more expensive side. I'll be testing the demo version, that's for sure.
