Great views of that train. Gotta be good for the roads around Putararu, Tirau and on out to Tauranga. Keep up the good work Geoff. PS doubt if that's firewood!

More like heading into Putaruru from Lichfield and probably originated at Tokoroa. About half way through you can see the timber museum on the right that is south of Putaruru. The logs are probably headed to Mt Maunganui for export as either logs or wood chips.

I guess there are no inclines of any note between Kinleith and the mount.

Where is this timber going? how was it procured when there is a serious shortage of building timber here?

Kinleith Forest to The Mount for export. Same for Kaingaroa Forest to The Mount for export.
Thousands of logs a day, more profit to send abroad and buy back the finished products!! And apparently better quality??
That is how all bulk materials and containers should be moved, by rail!. And I'm a truck driver within Kaingaroa!! but believe in rail transport

Reckon we should process that here prior to export. Jobs for Kiwis.

It should all be milled here , before export

    Cool video how many wagons?

Difficult to count the number of "wagons" (railcars) with certainty owing to too many cuts in the video where we don't get to see the entire length of the train, especially in trackside views. This is a common issue with many train videos here where videos are cut before we see the entire length of trains. Not good!
Anyway, as far as I can tell there were about 30+ railcars (wagons). However, I would encourage the video producer to re-edit this video to include full length train views from trackside positions.

The efficiency of rail is staggering - a realisation that the 2024 Govt and Road Dependency Cartels deliberately play down for vested self interested cronyism.
