Ben is a surprisingly controversial character in his own show since thanks to corporates and creatives fighting he was an insanely inconsistent character in the middle two series flipping from serious one episode to an absolute dork in the next. Eventually they settled into dork in the omniverse series but sometimes they lean far too much into that like when he watches his entire universe die only to remake it using alien x (god) and doesn't care at all that everyone around him aren't the people he knows anymore. Its played for laughs, the destruction of the universe is played for laughs.
I didn't watch this version of Ben 10 as a kid but I think they take place in the same universe so I'm just trying to use my context clues from videos analyzing episodes of Ben 10 that I have never watched. If you want to watch full episodes a reminder that they're technically three different series. The original series Alien force (Ultimate alien is technically it's own series but it's basically just the last season of alien force Then Omniverse. So keep that in mind! Oh yay! I recently got more into _Ben 10_ thanks to fan videos-although I’ve always had a passive interest in it-so my new knowledge of the series makes this extra fun. 😆 Also I’m going to assume a lot of this stuff is going to be from _Omniverse_ lol. It’s extra goofy and while it was initially denigrated by fans for it (along with its changes and extremely different art style), I’ve always kind of been a fan _because_ of that different art style. I just like stylistic art a lot and was also a fan of _Transformers Animated_ and _Mystery Incorporated…_ Which, speaking of _Mystery Incorporated,_ it would probably be fun to have an out of context reaction video to that. The original Ben 10 was my favorite cartoon of all time (even more than Teen Titans) and I’m gonna be honest, Omniverse is my second. A lot of people may not agree, but Ben’s selfish attitude is why he’s my favorite superhero character. True that I wish Ben was a little bit more mature in Omniverse, but I have always seen Ben as someone similar to One Punch Man in motivations, a “hero for fun”. He’s not a squeaky clean hero with strong morals. He’s just a kid who got his on the opportunity to live out a hero fantasy and acts like it. Also, personal theory, he was shown to gain a lot of personal growth and maturity during the first two series, but after being forced into fame against his will in Ultimate Alien, his personality was stuck on “brat”. He may have started out wanting fame when he was 10, but quickly realized the responsibility of being a hero and actively avoided fame. But, as soon as he’s forced into the spotlight, his personality did a 180 and now he’s eating it up? This makes me think that his jerk behavior was just a self defense mechanism against the press that was constantly berating him for every little thing so that they couldn’t think they phased him, and as Ben got more and more famous throughout the universe, it became his default personality. Two things that enforce that for me are 1) how he broke up with Julie, who he cared so much about, even during Ultimate Alien, after he got famous, and 2) the way he acts on the planet with aliens that all seemed similar to Earth “monsters”. He KNOWS they are aliens, can and has changed in to each of those races, so why else would he act like that? No matter how obnoxious he was, he hadn’t acted like that towards an alien race before, not even when he met Tetrax for the first time at age 10. Mix that with the realization that his personality changes to various degrees with each alien transformation, and I get the idea that he’s so used to these kinds of changes that he doesn’t even realize that his “stage persona” has replaced his actual personality. Again, just my theory, but I think watching Omniverse with that in mind is part of what makes me love it so much, even if it probably isn’t true.
Didn't read the entire thing, but Ben only acts goofy and has fun when the situation isn't serious. It's earned. He's not necessarily a dick in OV, only to the villains (roast game is also unmatched) but he is the most powerful thing in the universe, so of course he's confident. But whenever the situation gets serious Ben drops the act and gets the job done. Tho there are some minor nitpicks, but can't base the whole thing off of those small scenes from like 4 episodes. He's a pretty relatable character for me all things considered.

Would love to see some full episode reactions to the original Ben 10 of course, but also Alien Force and Ultimate Alien, the other two OG Ben 10 series that came out after, which were REALLY good and part of our childhoods! I would recommend the first two or three episodes of the OG Ben 10, especially the Vilgax and Dr Animo episodes. I would also recommend the Ghostfreak episodes and the Mummy/Werewolf/Frankenstein trilogy along with the final two parter to that, as well as the Forever Knights and 'the Negative Ten' episodes at the end. Would also recommend the Hybreed two parter at the end of Alien Force and the entirety of Ultimate Alien!

Oh yay! I recently got more into _Ben 10_ thanks to fan videos-although I’ve always had a passive interest in it-so my new knowledge of the series makes this extra fun. 😆
Also I’m going to assume a lot of this stuff is going to be from _Omniverse_ lol. It’s extra goofy and while it was initially denigrated by fans for it (along with its changes and extremely different art style), I’ve always kind of been a fan _because_ of that different art style. I just like stylistic art a lot and was also a fan of _Transformers Animated_ and _Mystery Incorporated…_
Which, speaking of _Mystery Incorporated,_ it would probably be fun to have an out of context reaction video to that. It was a series that could get pretty whack. 😂

I agree, Mystery Incorporated out of context would be amazing. I watched Ben 10 with younger brothers but only really from the first series, maybe a bit of the second and didn't realize how much there was so most of this is out of context for me too so I was only a little les confused than him.

The original Ben 10 was my favorite cartoon of all time (even more than Teen Titans) and I’m gonna be honest, Omniverse is my second. A lot of people may not agree, but Ben’s selfish attitude is why he’s my favorite superhero character. True that I wish Ben was a little bit more mature in Omniverse, but I have always seen Ben as someone similar to One Punch Man in motivations, a “hero for fun”. He’s not a squeaky clean hero with strong morals. He’s just a kid who got his on the opportunity to live out a hero fantasy and acts like it.
Also, personal theory, he was shown to gain a lot of personal growth and maturity during the first two series, but after being forced into fame against his will in Ultimate Alien, his personality was stuck on “brat”. He may have started out wanting fame when he was 10, but quickly realized the responsibility of being a hero and actively avoided fame. But, as soon as he’s forced into the spotlight, his personality did a 180 and now he’s eating it up? This makes me think that his jerk behavior was just a self defense mechanism against the press that was constantly berating him for every little thing so that they couldn’t think they phased him, and as Ben got more and more famous throughout the universe, it became his default personality. Two things that enforce that for me are 1) how he broke up with Julie, who he cared so much about, even during Ultimate Alien, after he got famous, and 2) the way he acts on the planet with aliens that all seemed similar to Earth “monsters”. He KNOWS they are aliens, can and has changed in to each of those races, so why else would he act like that? No matter how obnoxious he was, he hadn’t acted like that towards an alien race before, not even when he met Tetrax for the first time at age 10. Mix that with the realization that his personality changes to various degrees with each alien transformation, and I get the idea that he’s so used to these kinds of changes that he doesn’t even realize that his “stage persona” has replaced his actual personality. Again, just my theory, but I think watching Omniverse with that in mind is part of what makes me love it so much, even if it probably isn’t true.

Didn't read the entire thing, but Ben only acts goofy and has fun when the situation isn't serious. It's earned. He's not necessarily a dick in OV, only to the villains (roast game is also unmatched) but he is the most powerful thing in the universe, so of course he's confident. But whenever the situation gets serious Ben drops the act and gets the job done. Tho there are some minor nitpicks, but can't base the whole thing off of those small scenes from like 4 episodes.
He's a pretty relatable character for me all things considered.

Would love to see some full episode reactions to the original Ben 10 of course, but also Alien Force and Ultimate Alien, the other two OG Ben 10 series that came out after, which were REALLY good and part of our childhoods! I would recommend the first two or three episodes of the OG Ben 10, especially the Vilgax and Dr Animo episodes. I would also recommend the Ghostfreak episodes and the Mummy/Werewolf/Frankenstein trilogy along with the final two parter to that, as well as the Forever Knights and 'the Negative Ten' episodes at the end. Would also recommend the Hybreed two parter at the end of Alien Force and the entirety of Ultimate Alien!
