    THANK YOU Joanne. I felt I needed more help. How shall I mark the first row..i can see where this is critical and helps from getting lot and confused since the shape is odd. Also, I KNEW somehow instructions foe the neckline were not clear, as yours was so much prettier.
    also, in ROW 1 when you say knit all 36'stitches and come back, we now have TWO rows, right? I guess that is what brings us back to the
    " right" side?
    Please show us how to pick up stitches...
    And knit that very pretty neckline.
    AGAIN! thanks!

    Hi ladies!
    I found I found the pattern you supplied it below this video THANK YOU. Is this considered short rows?
    I do have a question please do you [[[[always divide your rows by five?]]]] What if you use 35 or 40 stitches? Thank you. I did not know the name of the piece yesterday when you were live. But I found it yesterday after you closed the live session yesterday! THANK YOU. I wanted to make sure you knew that I found the pattern. I did not see it originally, thanks for posting this, it can lend itself quite well in a umber of patterns. Like a knitted skirt, it would be so beautiful and flowing , thanks so much.
    You two are an adorable mother and daughter team. It's so awesome to see. I hope to get my daughter interested to work in my businesses. Hopefully she will desire to be trained and learn how to take her desired open to working with me!?!

    Hi Joanne. I love this cape! Im making it for my sister. I started the pink one you have with #10 needle & 30 stitches. Thought i would give this one a try instead. Your direction are for a 10 1/2 needle but your count is different from your written direction. In this video your going to eighteen but the direction say 15. Am i missing something?

    Hi Joanne. I have tried this many times & I seem to be missing something. I always end up with one side narrower then the other? I’ve watched you do it many times. Is it supposed to be narrower on one side? Help i really want to make this lovely cape. I’ve tried the 24 . I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong!!!

    Hi Joanne \, if i wanted to make this cape or the pink one for two little girls 4 & 6 how many stitches would i cast on for both patterns and how many stitches would the sequences be. I am eighty & have tried to make the pink pattern many times it never comes out as pretty as yours!! I cant get it to look round on the bottom it always comes to a point when i go to close it. It never goes far enough to go over it always separates. It finally dawned i me maybe i just have to knit it larger! Thank you for your lovely videos, Diane😊❤

    • @JoannesWeb
      @JoannesWeb  10 лет назад +2

      OK. Cast on 36 stitches.with 2 fluffy yarns and size 13 needles.
      1.-knit the 36 and come back
      2.-knit 24 and come back,
      3.-knit 12 and come back.
      Repeat these rows 60 times.
      You will have a circle.
      You will then pick up the stitches from the neckline and knit 4 rows, to make the neckline smaller. If you know how to crochet, you can do that too.
      Ill post the instructions so you can copy and print to make a cheat sheet.

    This looks lovely. Quick question though. If we're using another type of stitch (let's say all purls rather than knits), would we use exactly the same method for covering the hole when coming back? Thanks.

So also how do you figure out the number of sts to do if you cast on more . thanks Tammy this is very pretty and I will be making it for me and Christmas gifts this year.

    So, Joanne, can I just check? You can cast on as many stitches as you want, as long as they're a MULTIPLE of a number? So 63 as multiples of 7, for example...? so 14, then 21, then 28, then 35, then 42, then 49, then 56, then 63?

    I've yet to see a video of yours that I don't like. 2 questions - on the second scarf it looks like the neck line is ribbed. How did you do that? Also could you use stitch markers for the different counts or would they get in the way and mess up the pattern?

    • @JoannesWeb
      @JoannesWeb  7 лет назад

      The neck just becomes like that because of only knitting. No purl stitches. And yes, I use stitch markers.

  • @zezevii538

    may I ask when the scarf will start to wave? I've already knitted about 60cm(the longest part) but it's still flat.Is it normal?

  • @annespohn2378
    @annespohn2378 10 лет назад

    Hi Joanne, making your shawl as directed, but have a question: it is supposed to have an odd shape, right? Would you consider making a video making this shawl from the BEGINNING? Your neckline seems to have a pretty neckline. Does this just happen automatically, or did something get left out? THANKS

    • @JoannesWeb
      @JoannesWeb  10 лет назад

      Yes Anne. It's supposed to have an odd shape and the neckline happens automatically. Make sure you mark the front. That is: The side in which you make the change on the number of stitches you need. The back would be when you come back knitting those same stitches. The beginning is casting on 25 and knitting them back.
      To make a cape, you would cast on 36 stitches, using 2 fluffy yarns together with size 13 needles. Well post a picture of it.

    What is the math for this to make it thicker, you said 5 parts. Original is 25,20,15,10 and 5. but your larger one is only 4 - 36, 24, 12, and 6. What if I want to back it wider than 36 inches. What is the math for the 5 parts. like 50,40,30,20,10?

    • @JoannesWeb
      @JoannesWeb  10 лет назад +1

      Sabrina Terranova You can make it wider. The only difference between 4 and 5 parts will be for how "wavy" you want it. The more divisions, the more of a "ruffle" it will look. I have a cape that I made with 2 yarns (eyelash and boa) and # 13 needles. It has 12/ 24/ 36 stitches It becomes a circle. The look is different. The wider you want it, the more stitches you need. Of course, if you make something with 50,40,30,20,10...you will have a very wide, very "ruffley" scarf.

    • @JoannesWeb

      The problem with making the stockinette stitch is that the edges "roll" in. Also. The thickness would not be there. I do recommend that you knit, both ways.
