  • Hello Everyone And Welcome Back! Today I thought it would be a good idea to go over whether Season 1 was the success they wanted or failed to do so? To be honest it is a tough one when you include all the elements to it the 15th Doctor, Ruby, Sutekh, Russell T Davies, Disney, The BBC, 8 episodes a series, a 5 month gap from The Church On Ruby Road, The Space Babies opener and so much more! But what where your thoughts on the season, was it a success or a failure? Let me know in the comments below!
I should also point out I did enjoy this season despite me seeming slightly negative towards it at times in the video. It did have some brilliant stories, a great companion and other elements too!

I have watched Doctor Who from the Unearthly Child onwards.I didn't watch much of the Pertwee era ( far too much James Bond) and I hate Chibnals writing..
But Season 1/series 14 has to be not just the worst Doctor Who Series but one the worst TV series ever.
At any other time it would have been dumped straight to video and not recommissioned,

Yeah, I don’t think this was the success. This doctor was weak. In my opinion he just cried all the time and it just felt like Gatwa was just playing himself only crying a lot Ruby Sunday doesn’t seem to have that much of a personality. In my opinion in the overreliant on the baby storyline just irked me a lot.

@@TheBlueWhoReview you’re welcome my acquaintance. I just don’t believe that they’ve been traveling that long the fact that they have to tell us how long Ruby has traveled with the doctor tells me a lot. There’s a thing called show don’t tell they need to show us that Ruby has traveled a lot so I don’t believe that she has that big of a relationship with the doctor.

Ncuti has not gone down well but Millie was good. Very disappointed really due to major plot holes and the stupid resolution of the so called legend. Sutekh was a joke sadly.

@@lorrainesheridan496 Thanks for sharing your thoughts! What makes you think Ncuti hasn't gone down well? In terms of the resolution and Sutekh I completely agree, Sutekh was wasted and I still don't understand why he was so concerned about her mum! 💙

I mean the fans have had their say, DoctorWhoTV was always positive until the Whittaker era - when the weirdo anti woke brigade was complaining about Bill Pots mentioning being gay like twice the series ranked second out of the first 10 even when people were review bombing other sites.
But on DoctorWhoTV this series ranked bottom, BELOW Chibnall's seasons. Rogue is in the bottom 20 (and a story about birds who just want to cosplay DESERVES to be there with Fear Her).
Best episode was Boom, and even that was failed by some weird casting for the daughter.

@@redfieldblair Thanks for bringing up what DoctorWhoTV said about it! I must admit Boom was the worst for me (as I felt it was slightly boring) whereas Rogue was one of the best of the season! But it's nice to hear you enjoyed Boom more then me, despite it's faults!

@@TheBlueWhoReview I mean as a site they didn't say anything, it was visitor ratings:
      8. Space Babies Average voter score: 4.48
      7. Empire of Death Average voter score: 5.04
      6. Rogue Average voter score: 5.25
      5. The Devil’s Chord Average voter score: 5.57
      4. Dot and Bubble Average voter score: 6.06
      3. 73 Yards Average voter score: 6.94
      2. The Legend of Ruby Sunday Average voter score: 7.09
      1. Boom Average voter score: 7.10
Space Babies, Empire of Death and Rogue fell in the bottom 20. Honestly that's not a good score for any of them. On IMDB it's about the same just with 73 yards doing better, but all still well below classic level.
For the reviews going forward I hope this is taken as intended, but "boring" immediately switches me off a review - because boring is as meaningless as "I didn't like it". Was it the pacing (an issue I had with Empire of Death), the lack of a credible threat (one I had with Rogue) or maybe the situation was too outlandish for you to care about the outcome (ala Space Babies).
Boring is the starting point - and I'm sure there's a good reason why you found it so, it's just not a helpful in a review.
I know you probably only said it as a quick comment, I just have a personal mission to remove boring from the vocabulary of reviewers :)

@@redfieldblair Thanks again for sharing those statistics! In terms of boring and removing it it's a tuff one because I just found it a boring watch in general 😂 but breaking it down it's the fact that they where stuck in the same place with the same few people for the whole episode I just didn't find it enjoyable to watch! 💙
