Can we just appreciate the Connect 4 guy? That is talent.
mistertee stole my comment right from my brain
mistertee 👍👍❤️🇬🇧
RIght?!?!
To master that kind of timing!
Yes!!! I will never look at Connect 4 the same way again. I'm just gonna play it!😄
Let's all take a moment to appreciate Jimmy's vocals on this one. He's hitting the notes that Sting used to hit.
Tim Lazar he really does sound good. But we’ve all been singing these parts for 30 years.
Agreed. And he does a good impression of Sting. I remember when he and Ariana Grande were singing "I Can't Feel My Face" as Sting and Celine Dion on Wheel of Musical Impressions.
And also dude playing Connect Four to copy Stewart Copeland’s cross stick part.
Ikr. I was really surprised. Jimmy was awesome
Jonathan Rose On the original on , he actually sings the first verse in that same octave and doesn’t go to the next octave up until the 2nd verse. This is also the same key as the original. But to your point, I saw him live last summer and he’s definitely not getting those “Sting” notes like he used to. But at this point, he doesn’t really have to anymore. Peace!
Choose your instrument.
“I see your scissors and I raise you a connect 4”
😁
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Shoe
Pneumatic tire wrench.
Pillow is contributing more than I ever thought a pillow could
I think the mic might be inside the pillow, so the mic itself is getting bumped through padding when he hits it.
@@OrigamiMarie yes but it's still a pillow. Yeah of course there is a mic
Forget cowbell -- "More pillow!!"
Best pillow ever!
My go to instrument if you ask me
The Roots are so talented they can make any song sound studio quality, even if they're using shoes, scissors, Connect 4, pillows, etc as instruments.
Yesssss. Yes they are that good 😍
TOTALLY AGREED
I’m very intrigued by the Connect 4, plus I’m surprised that we all can hear the pillow.
DANG!!!! I WANT TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY THE SCISSORS!!!!!!!!
I play with rocks, since it easily beats scissors!!! on learning how to play.
@@elmoknows7 So true! Anyone can play the Spoons...It takes YEARS to learn the Forks LOL
Connect Four as an instrument was inspired!
Yow what about "the forks" 😂
Me too..... Not sure if I could *cut* it!!
The Roots will always be a *cut* above! 😂🙄
I’m blown away by how high Jimmy’s voice got. Literally hit Stings voice from 1980 perfectly. Wow.
John Curtis that’s sting
Javier Lestido No...in the video, it is clearly Jimmy doing it. Sting hasn’t been able to come remotely close to that high note since 1990.
@@johncurtis6815 I think you refer to different parts. I think Javier is thinking about 1:36
I was amazed by that too!
@@johncurtis6815 I wondered if Kirk and Jimmy doubled on the first high part, "This girl is half his age?" In the second part, "His car is warm and dry," is definitely Jimmy.
Damn! Jimmy knocked that harmony out of the park!!! Totally unexpected
A shoe, a pillow, connect 4🤯 The Roots are ICONIC.
DROPPIN JEWELLS right
The perfect song for our times sung by Sting himself, Mr. Jimmy Fallon, and The Roots. It does not get much better than this.
Teacher + minor sexual relationships are totally accepted now. Great point.
Fallon is so EXTRA
@@JammastaJ23 Very good point (but still can't get myself to stop loving the song somehow. A bit like the book in that regard).
Dang Jimmy can really sing! He hit those high notes and blended right in with Sting.
Of course! Have you heard his song Idiot Boyfriend?
How does Jimmy sound more like Sting than Sting? Best version of this song. Ever.
Autotune. 😊
"Don't Stand So Close to Me" the social distancing remix. Terrific rendition. If he can, I think Jimmy Falllon and the Tonight Show should release a compilation of the songs performed on his show during the COVID-19 pandemic as a fundraiser. I know that I would purchase it without a doubt.
what a great idea! donate some of the funds to music teachers...
I agree that would be awesome! I could use that song when I gotta go shopping, not everyone follows the rules as they should.
MY THOUGHT EXACTLY!
Actually, next Saturday there’s going to be a huge online concert, hosted by jimmy fallon, Steven colbert, and jimmy kimmel
That would be amazeballs!
O M G AMAZING !!! Who watched at LEAST twice ?
Me!!! Loved it!
I did!😆
I have watched at least three times.
3 x's sis!!😃
I’m on time #5
1. Jimmy with those high notes man!
2. The guy with the scissors is a mood and a half
I love Jimmy’s harmony in this, ahmigosh. 😫
Oohh Jimmy nailing those high notes!! Don't stand...!!!
I know right? He harmonizes well. Noice
This seems like an underrated comment. But regardless, the whole song was perf!
Stuti Khadka … agree. He’s the best ! He’s helping so many of us get through these trying times.& his daughters are so adorable .❤️👧👧
On "This girl is half his age" he sounds a LOT like Sting in the original album version.
The way Sting looks at Jimmy is priceless 😂😂👍💯💗
Once again proving The Roots are capable of playing anything! Sting is one of the greatest of all time and jimmy killed it! They are all world class! This was amazing! This literally made my day!
My 14 year old son just discovered Roxanne this week. He was surprised that I could recite all the words to it.
madbug1965 😂😂😂
My brothers were exactly the same way when we watched Face/Off and our mother knew who John Travolta was.
Never thought in my lifetime, Connect Four would be used as an instrument. hahahaha
I knowwww 🤣🤣🤣
You thought it would only become a instrument in the distant future?
Jimmy's harmony was on point!!!
I think Jimmy has finally convinced me he's more then just a talk show host, sometime actor. I'm impressed.
Jimmy's voice is so good
Damn Jimmy killed that and Quest was just super hyped to use those scissors and forks as instruments. Love these videos!
I agree!
He’s a Police fan. He gets amped for this
@@mstephens44 It definitely shows!
I'm gonna start playing the scissors in public like Questlove so peeps don't stand so close to me.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Please let us know, so we can watch you.
That sounds like it will be very effective, I think I’m going to do the same.
Harmonies were INSANE on that.....wow!
Jimmy truly has a great voice
when you are musicians, you can play any instruments even a connect 4
@Barry Allard i bet that easy for him
Or a pair of shoes
@Barry Allard 🤣🤣🤣
My vote is for the hair pick on tupperware....lol
It was mesmerizing. The connect 4. Magic.
Jimmy was more Sting than Sting.
Jimmy did great on the high notes! Great job Jimmy!
yep!!
Right?!
Agreed. I felt like Sting looked that way. Assuming he was aware that he's next to Jimmy
Yep.....the young youthful Sting voice during the Police years.
The scissors and Jimmy’s enthusiasm is LIFEEEE
the forks were killin' it!
Leave it to The Roots to backup anyone like Studio Quality with anything, anywhere, Improv-ement!!
Indeed! The Roots are the best!!! ♥️♥️♥️
Seriously, though!
I love that the scissors guy is wearing a Hanson shirt. That is just perfection.
Jaimie Clark-Boutcher : 😂😂😂
It is too good ✂️ Also just FYI, that’s Questlove, the iconic drummer of The Roots 🥁💜
The “scissors guy” 😳🤣
@@KishaLynnElliott Ikr?! That's akin to saying, "I love that those four guys from England back in the day had cute matching haircuts"....8-P
Big ups to Jimmy's vocals👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Damn Jimmy!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
This has got to be the greatest musical experience to come out of this whole thing. Brilliant!
Also check out Lin-Manuel Miranda and the whole cast of Hamilton performing for a little girl on John Krasinsk's "Some Good News" home vicast (episode 2)!
Twenty six links, I agree wholeheartedly!
Jimmy Fallon is certantly the world's best Sting impersonator.
I love how The Roots can use scissors, pillows, connect four game and shoes as instruments and still sound fantastic.
When I came across this last night, I was in shock. Having a basic knowledge of film and video production, I was amazed not only at the performances (scissors? Shoes? Connect 4? 🤯), but the time it took to record each performance and then piece it all together. That is a delicate and time consuming job. Koodos to whom ever thought of this bit. And that song, too funny:) Really enjoyed this production. Thanks Jimmy, The Roots and Sting 👍🏽
i choose to think they did it in actual zoom meeting style
@@surfingthedarkness with perfect internet connection..
@@myaukat JamKazam is great for performing together online
@@surfingthedarkness Absolutely cannot do that. Internet connections interrupt the sync.
You're right! It's amazing. Can I ask you for advice, please? I found several programs that offer technical solutions but do you know if there's a simple app to produce this kind of split-screen? I'd like to make music with friends and it's just impossible at the moment...
It's nice to see Jimmy enjoying himself that much !
Jimmy has such talent in singing! When he hits the high notes it’s perfect! Exactly like it was in the original recorded song. Flawless!
Tbh, this is one of Jimmy best singing performances I’ve ever seen from him. Like I always knew he was a good singer but, he is amazing in this! ❤️
😊
Jimmy Fallon, you rocked those vocals! Love it!
Ahh! The memories! 1980 was a very special year🥰
"What instrument do you play?"
"4 in a row!" 😂
Jimmy giving out young Sting vibes
Frontline foods looks like a great cause. As an icu nurse I can tell you the donated food is one of the things that helps me make it through the day. Not even really about the fact that it’s free (though I definitely appreciate that.) but just that it’s there on my unit. I certainly don’t have time during my shifts to make it to the cafeteria and I’m too exhausted to pack a lunch between shifts. Looks like they aren’t in Colorado, but we deeply appreciate all the meals from our community 🙏🏻
Jimmy, I beg you. Please give us some Roots magic every week. God damn.
One of my favorite bands. One of my favorite musical bits from Jimmy (classroom instruments, edited (visually) like the theme from The Brady Bunch), and Jimmy hitting those Police high notes... gonna be one of my "memory vids" from all... this.
Love jimmys voice there like sting at his younger years.💓💓💓
Superb! Reminds me of nursery school in London. They played the best music!
I love this song! This was done very well as a group! Praises to out to The Roots, Jimmy and Sting!! 🎶🎹🎶💋
"Who is that guy, he seems familiar."
_starts singing_
"Goddammit."
Yep. Got stung, didn't ya?
@@CosmicStargoat hahahahahaha
Time, it passes and spares no one.
I can watch this over and over.
This gave me chills! Jiiiiiimmmmmyyyyy!!! Stttttiiiiiinnnnnggggg! Rooooooootttttsssss! LOVE!
The guy in the upper right is just playing Connect 4 by himself 🤣
Lol. Me.
Kïšhïə Båñğəř that’s what I’m saying 😂
Have you ever seen anyone use it as a musical instrument though?
V SW I have not
@@VaDonteWilliams I cannot say I have 😂
When The Roots and Jimmy Fallon along with Sting sing one of ur favorite songs! ❤️
One of the best they’ve done
Jimmy & Sting's voices go well together.
Love this and the "instruments" 😂
Loved the connect 4 and the cushion oh and yes, Jimmy's vocals were gorgeous.
Duuude! Fallon can sing man.
I think this is my favorite one of all!👍🏽
Wish I had friends like this!! The wonders of being a popular person in today’s world..
Can't believe Sting sounds so great. Froma generation when artists had real vocal talent.
Right on.
There's just as much vocal talent to be found in younger generations too. Only, back then the big talents used to be in popular mainstream acts such as The Police, whereas nowadays most people choose to listen to talentless vocalists on records where the vocals have more to do with the computer on which it was produced, rather than the singers. The reasons elude me, but oh well.
jimmy fallon seriously needs to make an album and redo music hits from the 70's-80's-90's w/ other famous singers.that would be epic .like low key his voice is really good...and the fact that he pulls off singing with sting .and it sounds amazing.....like come on man make an album already...im so there to purchase that album....
Ft. Paul Rudd. Lol.😁😁😁
how ardently and sincerely she (Nancy) says 'I love you' at the end of this episode is so lovely.
Jimmy needs to get Stevie Nicks to do Stand back with him
Theres no K in Nick's not trying to sound mean or anything, actually more people than you think, think there is a K in her name before Nicks
Oh thank u for the correction
@@shannonmccarthy3461 oh, did the original poster write KNICKS as opposed to NICKS? Asking because this exchange is confusing, especially how the correcting statement is written.
At any rate, I LOVE Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac 💕
That was great! And the former high school marching band nerd in me appreciated the tuba! 😉
LOVED this. Add Sting to Jimmy's impressive list of musical impersonations. I thought his Jim Morrison couldn't be topped... perhaps I was wrong!
i cant stop watching this, is genuinely beautiful.
This song is so amazing! Jimmy Fallon has the perfect voice to sing along with Sting. I'm amazed how such a high quality came through. It's studio quality. I want more!!! Come-on, Jimmy, Sting, Roots!!!
I remember Jimmy's impression of Sting on SNL "fla la la la flo fla la la flo" LOL
Me too😂That's why I had to laugh when I saw them next to each other😂
Goose bumps ensue listening to the soothing melody of Quest Love's scissors and forks...but the most riveting moment is James on the melodica...give him a "thank you" note!
The roots are my heros
When u have the legendary Roots & Sting together with Jimmy Fallon, who knew the magical sound & great vibes would be so fun to watch & listen to🤷🏽♀️. But can we talk about the creative thought💭 behind using scissors ✂️ & connect four as musical additions though...luv’d it!!!
This is so wonderful! I wish Jimmy could do 'More Cowbell / Don't Fear the Reaper' this way with as many original cast members as possible + special cameo by Mr. Walken.
Stings voice seems to have become even more haunting....awesome and full marks from this teacher
LOVE Sting! LOVE The Roots! LOVE Jimmy for bringing this to us! thank you thank you 🤗
This at home version is so good. I love all the household items they use! Jimmy is so funny to watch on here and he does a great job hitting the high notes. Haha I love it
Jimmy, as an editor, I must say that this is possibly one of the most finely-tuned and creative works you've done. But you are a pro, so should I expect anything less? I think not. I feel a compilation is in order, sir. Thank you, Sting and The Roots, as well as your video and audio editors, for making all our lives a little better-minded during this difficult time.
Jimmy is a great singer if he wants to.
I am a ride or die Sting fan. Fabulous he is still rocking. Bravo Sting, Jimmy and the Roots.
Jimmy has a great singing voice. I had no idea
You must have missed all of his musical bits over the past 20 years.
@@VIDS2013 I'm a fairly new fan 😅
WhovianVelma welcome!
@@chloenguyen6398 thank you! 😊
WhovianVelma you’re welcome!
I loved the look Sting shot at Jimmy when he started hitting those high notes. Bravo one and all!
Sting, thank you for being Sting and for the hard work and sacrifices it's surely entailed over the years (!!!!). Roots and Jimmy, thank you, too!!
The best version, hands down!!!
just amazing. the level of talent and creativity on this is just incredible. The connect four guy is just classic. Thank you for this...
the roots are so talented they make any performance special.
The Roots are the best!👍🏿💃🏿
I don't think anyone could listen to this and not smile! Thanks to everyone involved!
Stewart, Sting and Andy was one of the best bands ever.
Sting's face at the end haha
Omg smashing incredibly applause.
Sting sounds fabulous. The musicality of Jimmy Fallon never ceases to impress me. The Roots...no words.❤️
I've missed The Roots! Also, super creative! I love the tennis shoes and the Connect Four.
Jimmy really had a great voice, it goes well with Stings voice. This should become the Covid-19 song, with Sting, Jimmy & Roots.
I love Jimmy! best version ever
Quest is one of the best percussionist I’ve ever seen! Amazing!!!!
